I couldn't find my ottoman, so I brought my scottoman.

It's a cushion that relies on baked oats, among other things.

Hi Hubig! Happy 2021! Now that you mention it, I have't seen it either; guess it got bought out by Big Pharma.
Avatar 🛎 8:18pm
Hubig Pie:

I could use some big pharma, woke up this morning with 101 fever and now awaiting Covid test result My sense of taste is impeccable and my smell has always been questionable, so I got that going for me
Avatar 8:19pm
Mary Wing:

Oh no! Did you go out to get tested today with a fever?
Avatar 🛎 8:23pm
Hubig Pie:

Ja , Mary. Fever has abated and feelin' just fine at the moment, but I stuck inna bed so glad to see this show be on.
Avatar 8:26pm
Mary Wing:

Happy to help with your healing; staying in bed is best, buddy!
Avatar 🛎 8:29pm
Hubig Pie:

It was drive-by contact free testing. The wife wants me to stay in the bed room and not running around the house shedding germs and swilling beer. I feel like a cloistered nun
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:36pm
doctorjazz:

I had a positive test a few weeks age (turned out to be a false positive rapid test, 2 more accurate, but slower to result tests were negative), but until untill we knew, I isolated in a small room for a week, which was crazy making.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:37pm
doctorjazz:

Feel good, Hubig Pie!
Avatar 🛎 8:38pm
Hubig Pie:

Thanks Doc. What is the rapid test ?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:44pm
doctorjazz:

They'd a version of the test that you run in a machine and get a results in 15 minutes or so (it's very much like a flu or step test, if you've ever done any of those). They're Handy since you get them right away, but they're not as accurate as the one that takes 4 days or so.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:46pm
doctorjazz:

(I'm guessing that's what they used to clear visitors for Trump... You remember how that worked out... Most of the White House got infected at some point. Congress likely had a similar system)
Avatar 8:47pm
Mary Wing:

I wonder what percentage of the rapid tests are accurate? Seems rather silly if there are so many false positives, but if it keeps healthy people at home for a week along with the actual sick folks, I guess it helps.
Avatar 🛎 8:54pm
Hubig Pie:

Well, I was told I'd get results in 24 - 48 hrs so I don't think the test was of the rapid variety then
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:55pm
doctorjazz:

There's actually not a single answer, it's complicated. The test is most accurate in people with symptoms, not as much of you don't have any. Is more accurate of the infection rate in the community is high, less if there isn't. It's more accurate 5-7 days after exposure, less if you test sooner (that's true for the slower test as well-in fact, most of this it's true for both, but more for the rapid). And the technique of the person doing the Dean and running the test also makes a difference.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:55pm
doctorjazz:

It's still useful if someone is Ill, and you need something to go on in less than 4 days
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:58pm
doctorjazz:

The slower test, called pcr, varies in time from place to place, 3-4 days on average, though some hospital labs have it down to 4 hours or so.
