at least, I consider it more "atmospheric" to listen to these radio dramas deep in the night, perfect time for it :)

finally a Southern accent?
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 6:09pm
Austin Rich:

Mr. Fab: we have a local team, that I guess is a feeder team for the SF major league team. The local team is The Volcanos, and sadly, they do not use Van Halen's "Eruption," when the team hits a home run. It's really a lost opportunity.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 6:09pm
Austin Rich:

That accent is... suspect, methinks.
  6:09pm
Ellen Lovebug:

When I went to White Sox games as a kid at Comiskie Park, whenever the WS hit a home run, they set off fireworks!
  6:10pm
Ellen Lovebug:

The accent sounds like someone is trying to audition for Colonel Sanders for a KFC commercial
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 6:10pm

Most Volcanoes games end in fireworks. It's controversial, locally, but good free regular entertainment if you have kids.

Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 6:12pm

I think more people were superstitious in the 40's than they are now. At least, I don't think I've met many people recently who are superstitious, except in the, "I need more Stevie Wonder's 'Superstitious.'"

Nowadays, actors have dialect coaches. Back in the day, you just pretended.

  6:25pm
Ellen Lovebug:

Interestingly this is the scariest Box 13 so far
Avatar 6:26pm
Mr Fab:

No, the Hellraiser is the whole month. But it's a "silent" fundraiser. No long on-air pleading.
  6:26pm
Ellen Lovebug:

That anyone would want to use something like that..knowing there are followers of religions that do that kind of thing...it's scary
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 6:27pm

Got it! I assume we can briefly mention the link or something, then get back to the point quickly? (I'm already planning Oct for Dimestore...)

Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 6:37pm
Austin Rich:

I usually drop a disclaimer like this during the episodes that feature The Voyage of The Scarlet Queen, but this episode features a lot of music, voices, and accents that are problematic. They were wrong then, and are wrong now, but were also a part of entertainment then. I usually don't want to cut out episodes or clean up the past for the sake of being PC, but I do want to acknowledge that this can be hard to hear at times. Perhaps this is a long was of saying: we are here for the academic entertainment value, and not to spread dim-witted views of others.

I could hear you working the problem through your live mic. The Play could be heard in the studio speakers through your mic.
