I usually try to compare a few sources, to make sure I'm not just relying on the first thing I found. But Box 13 is pretty well documented, and most of the people posted episodes seem to be posted the same set of files. I suspect a fan, in the early internet era, digitized his own collection, and that set has been floating around online ever since.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 9:23pm
Austin Rich:

That was one of the rare occasions on Box 13 when you can hear the transcription disc - and a part that almost skips. Usually, the shows were better archived than that.

Tonight we have our second to last Dimension X story, written by Robert Heinlein. It is also one of the worst sounding episodes of Dimension X. I did a lot of clean up; you can hear everything. But wow... this one is murky. Be warned.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 10:22pm
Austin Rich:

The final Dimension X episode that we are airing next week - Nightfall - is actually an astonishingly good recordings, for late-period Dimension X. So that's our reward for the rough one this week.

If we knew, they wouldn’t be lost!
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 10:31pm
Austin Rich:

In Chandu, they're always searching for Robert Regent. They never find him. But that's pretty much every episode.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 10:35pm
Austin Rich:

Again, I am curious about the provenance of the Dimension X episodes. I've done some digging online, and there aren't really better recordings. (Unless some super-fan somewhere has transcription discs that they aren't talking about.) So most likely, the recordings we have of Dimension X are fan recordings, that have been circulating for years.

This is such a throw-back to a different era of Sci-Fi. Heinlein tries to paint this picture, that it's sweet, that this old guy is getting his last request met. I keep thinking about all the workers and employees that he's sort of yanked around just to live out his wish. Who's gonna get in trouble after he lives out his wish?
  🎸 10:53pm
Heather Z:

↳ Austin Rich @10:51
I'd imagine it was seen as all the workers' privilege to be on the mission? Grr

Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 10:56pm
Austin Rich:

Heinlein has another story, about an old man who can barely make a space flight to another planet, called, "The Green Hills of Earth," which is quite beautiful, and really well written. I think of this story as Heinlein's attempt to recapture that same nostalgic magic, and not quite getting there.
