As you can tell, they take a few liberties, as they try to keep the story a little shorter, and have it clock in at under an hour. You'll notice other changes and omissions... and things they keep the same, too.

This movie is amazing but it messed me up as a kid. Lots of scary moments that freaked me out. I still have recurring tornado nightmares and I think this movie is to blame ha ha

You can sort of tell that Judy Garland is really trying to sound "younger" for this radio presentation.

The 1950 Lux Radio Theatre adaptation of "The Wizard of Oz," written by Sandy Barnett, was the only time that Judy Garland ever recreated her most famous film role as Dorothy Gale. Additonal cast included Herbert Vigran (Hickory/Tin Woodman), Hans Conried (Hunk/Scarecrow), Edwin Max (Zeke/Cowardly Lion), Ruth Perrott (Auntie Em), William Johnstone (Uncle Henry), Betty Lou Gerson (Glinda the Good Witch), Noreen Gammill (Miss Gulch/Wicked Witch), Gil Stratton, Jr. (Mayor of Munchkinland), Charles Smith (Doctor), Herbert Butterfield (Professor/The Wizard), Charles Woolf (Lawyer), Jay Novello (Guard), Marian Richman (Woman), Eddie Marr (Man), Norman Field (Voice), and David Light (Toto, Dorothy's dog). Dorothy Lovett was Libby Collins. William Keighley was the host, John Milton Kennedy the announcer, and the Music Director was Rudy Schrager. Garland sang "We're Off to See the Wizard" and "Over the Rainbow." A contract for the show, with J. Walter Thompson Company dated December 18, 1950, states Judy was paid $5,000 for her appearance.

Also, the Oz Musical was a monster hit in 1902, and had little to do with the book, and had songs swapped in depending on who was in the show. ↳ Song: ""The Plot To Muder Santa Claus"" by "Rocky Fortune"
I've probably mentioned this before, but the primary creative force behind Rocky Fortune was George Lefferts... in-between his gigs working on Dimension X and X-Minus One.

So, while he did more Sci-Fi for radio than "noir," this was his attempt at writing a "noir" show.

This was pretty common in the "pulp" era; writers would try their hand at any genre that they could "sell." So a lot of people writing sci-fi would also write detective stories when the sci-fi wasn't selling.

The Woggles are great! I've never seen them live, but those albums are great!

Last week, Frank was hanging out with a Chimpanzee. This show rules.

Is a kiss a differently betting pool than the getting knocked out?

He's got to get knocked out pretty soon!

That boss sounds very calm for having walked in on a fight.

It must happen all the time.

Similarly, John Byrne wrote an infamous story which tried to establish that the Inhumans’ dog Lockjaw could always talk but just didn’t feel like it. It furthermore tried to establish that he was originally a normal human before being transformed into a monstrous dog!
Fortunately, that nonsense got retconned null and void.

When was that? It sounds like a very "80's" story idea.

Was just talking with Kreightoven about Peter Gabriel, and remembered I had seen him with Sinead O'Connor - That totally escaped my mind, that I have seen Sinead perform live - even at the time of her passing. I think I'm losing my mind... or maybe I've seen to many shows for my mental filing cabinet - Hahaha!

It's hard to remember every little thing that happens in a full year, let along many, many of them.

That's at least the second "From Here to Eternity" reference he's made.

David Shortell:

Frank’s Rocky Fortune period was during his career lull right before “From Here to Eternity” and signing with Capitol Records. I don’t know if there’s any truth to “The Godfather”’s horse head anecdote.
