My preferred coffee shop serves a locally roasted dark roast, consistently good. At one time one of the baristas was known to play a wide range of music over the PA. I would not have been surprised to stroll in to Ahmed. The barista won a grant during COVID to travel to make field recordings. Still eager to hear what he captured.

Ars Nova Workshop noted that Cline had composed the music on a COVID era arts grant that ANW had helped secure for him. Chinen’s Halvorson piece also says the Halvorson compositions gestated during lockdown.
