BSI:

NGHills:
agreed!
  10:36am
Cecile:

What can we do to stop the RIAA to stop pursuing individuals, and actually just pay their artists? They are wasting a lot of artists' money pursuing this. Unless that's the point?

How can we send a message?
  10:50am
Cecile:

They're spending money they should be paying their artists!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

this is so wrong.
  10:52am
jtkmdny:

Maybe the jury looked at it as stealing and thought that the punishment fit the crime. This is pretty rampant and I doubt that the defendant showed any remorse.
  10:52am
Just Wondering:

will there be a cartoon of Charlie Nesson? :-)
  10:56am
Cecile:

another point to make is that Napster was putting music back into circulation that the record companies let go out of print. So they weren't making money off that.
  10:58am
Cecile:

ah, well, I am off to a meeting. Talk to you later!
  10:59am
popo:

FYI from RIAA Website:
"We are grateful for the jury's service and their recognition of the impact of illegal downloading on the music community. We appreciate that Mr. Tenenbaum finally acknowledged that artists and music companies deserve to be paid for their work. From the beginning, that's what this case has been about. We only wish he had done so sooner rather than lie about his illegal behavior."
seems silly
  11:02am
cb:

That Coralie Clement song was wonderful
  11:19am
bw:

thanks again Charlie
sorry my nirvana joke fell flat!!
  11:19am
annie:

amazing show today bw.... have to keep coming in from the porch to hear the spoken word bits..
  11:32am
Cecile:

@popo: so hypocritical.
They should just change that phrase to "certain, large-selling artists and music companies..."
  11:34am
Cecile:

I like Au Bon Pain in a pinch. They also have yummy shortbread.
  11:50am
north guinea hills:

from the beeb on tenenbaum..: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/technology/8177285.stm
  11:52am
north guinea hills:

interesting the bbc is covering it, but i can't find anything on any american news site's front page....
  11:56am
Cecile:

I thought of a way to fight the RIAA.
Publicize every documented case of artists getting ripped off on publishing and royalties after these judgements. It will put holes in their argument that they are looking after the artists.

I think the US news media is nearly as poorly informed on the issue as the American public, and also, it bores them.
  11:59am
Ike:

Good idea, Cecile. I like it.
  1:21pm
bw:

here is a link to the comic I excerpted today:
http://www.amazon.com/Space-Dog-Hendrik-Dorgathen/dp/2020335425

The whole book is amazing - worth picking up
