Listener comments!

  Sat. 9/19/09 6:05am Sue:

Hi, Joe! Good morning! How's it going?
  Sat. 9/19/09 6:08am Joe:

Hey, Sue! I'm rubbing the sand from my eyes. What about you?
  Sat. 9/19/09 6:12am Sue:

Same here, man. I've been up since two hours ago. I'm just glad I don't have to go into work extra early this morning. We were supposed to have some crazy meeting but it got canceled. I mean, who has meetings at the crack of dawn on a Saturday morning?! My boss is a self-declared Napoleon :)
  Sat. 9/19/09 6:14am Joe:

What was that joke about why Napoleon always had his hand in his jacket? Because he was scratching his nose? Anyway, you're right about Sat. morning meetings. That should be against the law. Glad cooler heads prevailed!
  Sat. 9/19/09 6:15am dale:

top of the morning, joe. hard to take the darkness art this hour, though
  Sat. 9/19/09 6:16am dale:

also hard to type at this hour
  Sat. 9/19/09 6:16am Sue:

Yeah, I don't know how much longer I can take it here on the west coast. I'm always going to be a Jersey girl. The people here are too friggin nice!
  Sat. 9/19/09 6:17am Joe:

Hey, Dale! Yeah, you said it. It seems to lift a little later every morning...Love serendipitous (sp?) typos--"darkness art" is great! Should be an album title.
  Sat. 9/19/09 6:18am Joe:

Sue, you should come back to Jersey. Later in the show I will play a song that tells you just why Jersey is best.
  Sat. 9/19/09 6:21am Sue:

Awesome, I'm looking forward to it. I am pretty homesick. I was considering London for my next move but I might just come on back home. I'm diggin' your tunes btw... as usual... thanks for accompanying me while I get ready for my day!
  Sat. 9/19/09 6:23am dale:

love the raga-ish of this amon duul. i have a bunch of early popul vuh on vinyl that this reminds me of. actually if you played this at 16rpm it would sound like popul vuh. do turntables still come with a 16rpm speed?
  Sat. 9/19/09 6:23am Joe:

Aw, shucks, Sue, thanks! I'm always surprised that folks are up so early, esp. on the West Coast!
  Sat. 9/19/09 6:25am Joe:

We've got these great tables at the station that do any speed, Dale! But yeah, I think Neu! actually did a whole album side at 78 rpm or 16 or some such thing--maybe "Neu! 2"?
  Sat. 9/19/09 6:33am dale:

i think the 16s were only spoken transcription discs. they're probably all molding away in small-town schools or in the library of congress now.
  Sat. 9/19/09 6:36am Joe:

Wow! It's funny that 16 used to be on so many turntables, even when I was a kid in the late 70s/early 80s. I wonder why?
  Sat. 9/19/09 6:44am dale:

love this version. have you ever heard the johnny mann singers beatles album? it's that horrible great that we all appreciate.
  Sat. 9/19/09 6:47am Joe:

No, I've never heard that, but it sounds great! I mean "great" in the loosest possible way.
  Sat. 9/19/09 7:36am dale:

'bake me a lady who will bake me a daisy?'
  Sat. 9/19/09 7:37am Joe:

Ha ha! I think he's saying "Bake me a baby"!
  Sat. 9/19/09 7:38am dale:

oh, a baABY.....
  Sat. 9/19/09 7:46am dale:

joe, you have the most eclectic collection of 45s i ever heard. is this all garage sale/salvay finds or do you troll record shows as well?
  Sat. 9/19/09 7:48am Joe:

Thanks, Dale! I do both, but I rarely pay more than a dollar for anything! I'm sure I miss out on some good stuff that way, but I'm a cheap bastard.
  Sat. 9/19/09 7:54am dale:

i stopped buying records a while ago. I moved them from my attic to the garage and when I realized I had an entire pickup truck bed filled with standing discs I decided to stop. especially when i saw that i had three copies of the smothers bros live at the green onion.
  Sat. 9/19/09 7:57am Joe:

I admire your ability to control your addiction! I agree that the Smothers Brothers x3 is a bad sign, indeed. I'm a little worried, but it hasn't reached that point....yet.
  Sat. 9/19/09 8:17am tw2sheds:

I'm sure its been said before but isnt the tra la la riff from the Banana Splits lifted from Buffalo Soldier? (Make those math problems you have to dodto post easier, OK?)
Sat. 9/19/09 8:20am Lisa in Tampa:

Calling a band the Evolution Revolution these days could get you shouted down at a town hall. (Hi, Joe!)
  Sat. 9/19/09 8:21am Joe:

You're no doubt right, tw2sheds! I think the bubble gum gods who wrote all these tunes stole EVERYTHING from EVERYBODY!
  Sat. 9/19/09 8:22am Joe:

Hey, Lisa! What about songs about sea monsters?
  Sat. 9/19/09 8:23am Lisa:

They're what it's all about!
