Hello Trouble - hello all - I am grateful and a bit shocked for the Gil Melle tune Trouble; last week I had 'Gears' in my head, but couldn't remember the title or the artist - I have it on a Blue Note Compilation from the 80s, but all my vinyl is locked away alas. Thank you so much for playing it and putting me out my misery!!! Serendipity or co-incidence? Qui Sais as the French say...Amazing: )

i think the hobby lobby ruling has to do with the massive disrespect our leaders have for the workforce, as well as disrespect for women. we're both lucky to have jobs AND so many are clearly available so we can go gallivanting off to an employer that fits our views to a T

Wow. I can't believe Trouble's info spot could become so divisive among her listeners. Perhaps it's my ignorance as a UK listener, but I just thought it was interesting and educational. I can't imagine such a reaction in the UK; especially when Trouble is about the best 3 hours of radio I hear a week!!

for me... personally.. I agree with trouble 95% of the time when she voices her opinions.. however 100% of the time I think it ruins the fun of wfmu and is not why I listen. It ruins my enjoyment and turns me off.. to the point where I really consider stopping my Tuesday morning ritual (even though I'm all for her viewpoints).. It just feels icky.

It is a valid observation, though: in the USA, the loud (not necessarily) majority assumes their opinions are the only game in town, and simply the presence of another viewpoint is an attack upon their rights (?!?!) ...

They simply can't share the same room with another opinion. If something offends you, IT is (somehow) the problem and must be legislated out of existence. Etc. I'm sure it is universal, but the polarizing effect is particularly nasty in the states.
