Big Star! Nice opening set @DJ Pat. Interested to hear Music for Enophiles, and what Larry H. has to say.

Listener Robert:

As I've mentioned to some Enophiles, I divined a fortuitous meaning to the title track of "Taking Tiger Mtn. (by Strategy)": It seems to be about the abortive Russian-American Telegraph project. "We climbed, and we climbed, oh how we climbed" the telegraph poles. "Over the stars", i.e. north of the Stars & Stripes, into Canada & Russian America, "to top Tiger Mtn." There is no actual Tiger Mtn. in China, the location for the opera for which it's named, although there's a Dragon & Tiger Mtn. But there's a Tiger Mtn. in Washington state, close to where the Russian-American Telegraph line went. "Forcing the lines thru the snow" of Russian America, which is now Alaska.

I'm 52, and my rock crowd absolutely worshiped Eno, the four albums. For a while (ten years or so) I had as my favorite rock album ever (Taking Tiger Mountain). (now my favorite rock album is Wire's Chairs Missing.)
