	7:32pm Joe: Tonks our cats who has since passed. When we got her the vet figures she was around 10 had probably had at least two litters at some point. She was missing her back left leg had a damaged eye and ear. She was found on the street hungry. She had a skin condition on the back of her neck which she could scratch due to her lack of leg. Meowed the most horrid sound you ever heard. But was the sweetest thing
	7:33pm Sam: Oh my god, you have to screen people so carefully. Getting a pet is a huge commitment that could last 20 years. Lots of people don't realize what they're getting into, and so many pets end up being abandoned because the owners can't deal. That's the worst case scenario.

	7:39pm kimzilla: @Dale, cause if you know their specific traits it can really match your lifestyle well, for example, a basset with a retired family vs a mix where they get some active genetics that they can't handle.
	7:40pm Emily: @ Joe awww! Reminds me of a cat I adopted in college—F-sharp. She was about that age, had all sorts of issues—she was pitiful. But she just showed up on my porch one day and stayed, so we took care of her til the end. Tonks was lucky to have good loving humans for the end of her life!
	7:40pm Sam: Mutts all the way! They're psychologically healthy. Purebreds are usually all screwed up and don't live as long because they're inbred. I knew someone who's psycho puppy mill dog had to stay in the garage all the time because it wouldn't stop barking constantly.

	♥ 7:50pm dale: peanut (my avatar) had two sets of teeth, two inch long legs and a fused spine. she had fatty lipidosis, we had to express her bladder, she had infections, seizures, and finally got cancer. she made it to 15 and was happy for most of it.
