Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:01pm Richard S:

Good evening!
Avatar 7:02pm Dan Bodah:

Hello BB, ultradamno, Richard S, and all Fryers from across the globe
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:03pm coelacanth∅:

greetings Dan and all
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:04pm Webhamster Henry:

Hi! Whoa 2-hour fry coming up! You can play some really long Diamanda Galas or have some live-ish guesting.
Avatar 7:05pm Lux Exterior:

get your war bonnets out
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:06pm Mr. Pumpy:

Hello, Dan and all Fryers! I used to sort my dad's meds for the week on Sundays...now I do it on Mondays between 7 and 8! This is good music to arrange pills to. Oops...a benzo just fell in my mouth! What to do?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:08pm coelacanth∅:

Avatar 7:09pm Lux Exterior:

wash it down with some go go juice
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:09pm maestroso:

I've seen Huun-Huur-Tu several times, in Hong Kong and US. Always interesting.
Avatar 7:10pm ranjit:

HHT & stimmhorn! an interesting combo!
Avatar 7:11pm Lux Exterior:

his mother also threw acid in his face
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:13pm Webhamster Henry:

Here's what happens when vocal is completely overheated! I measured Mimmi Rosendahl's whistle at 10500 Hz or so.
  7:14pm yetibob:

maestro - i saw them in Hawaii, of all places. Unexpected and brilliant.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:15pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Hi, YB. What's your situation this afternoon? Alternator fixed and all?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:17pm YETI BOB:

KFHP: No, I'm cooling my heels here in Sedona until the car is fixed. Not the worst place to be stuck - it's beautiful, even if everyone here is crazy.
  7:18pm yippie:

I always wonder if you're allowed to say milf on the radio or only mil
Avatar 7:19pm Lux Exterior:

Does that gutural technique have a name?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:19pm YETI BOB:

@WHH: Wow. I can hear that in my left ear, but not in my damaged right ear. It's damn impressive but also a bit painful. Mimi, please don't do that! :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:20pm YETI BOB:

Lux - Kargyraa, I believe
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:21pm YETI BOB:

There's a movie called "Ghengis Blues" which I can't recommend highly enough
Avatar 7:21pm Lux Exterior:

Thanks, I've been having trouble with getting volume from these low kind of songs when singing
Avatar 7:21pm Lux Exterior:

defo gonna watch it
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:22pm Mr. Pumpy:

That wallaby was a real WILF!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:22pm chresti:

Hi Dan and Fryers, not chickens! I was listening in the shower.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:24pm Webhamster Henry:

@YETI BOB Mimi is LOUD! she did warn to turn down the volume. It's not super loud to me, but my spectrogram says it is!
Avatar 7:24pm Smurph:

Awesome show today! Loving all the sounds.
Avatar 7:25pm Smurph:

(only Wilf I know is a character in a William Gibson novel, so I don't think that counts.)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:27pm YETI BOB:

@WHH: The subtleties a spectrograph would miss!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:29pm YETI BOB:

actually I'm pleasantly surprised I can hear 10.5KH in my "good" ear, at my age
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:30pm Ken From Hyde Park:

A guy named Zygi Wilf owns the Minnesota Vikings sportsball team, but I don't think that counts either.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:31pm YETI BOB:

@WHH: I think that perceived loudness increases with pitch, even if absolute amplitude is held constant. That's part of the reason Mimi's whistle tone is so LOUD
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:32pm YETI BOB:

@KFHP: I was thinking of this guy en.wikipedia.org... who wrote some important math books
  7:35pm headcleaner:

this is getting in my head in a very nice way there, dan
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:36pm coelacanth∅:

i can hear Mimi's whistle loud and clear - and it kills me! frequency-wise i have the hearing of an average 17-year-old; but those highs almost instantly make me feel like shit.
it's not uncommon for me to have to turn off soundscapes, drones and such on Bryce's or Fabio's shows because of high frequencies.
...Mimi's Amazing nonetheless!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:37pm coelacanth∅:

Thanks for sharing it Henry. fascinating
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:38pm YETI BOB:

yeah it's equally unpleasant and amazing!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:39pm YETI BOB:

Dan's music picks, on the other hand, are just amazing.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:42pm Handy Haversack:

Sounding great, Dan! I am in waaaaaay over my head cooking, but I'm listening!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:43pm Webhamster Henry:

I wrota an imaginary Sound event featuring top octave music: (2006) For Children Only: Sting Labs (Anopheles, 2006)
The giddy realization that adults can't really hear sound above 15KHz or so makes this all digital treat literally unlistenable. Some of these have turned up as ringtones. Most of the time, if you see a bunch of kids gyrating in the street in rhythm, you can blame these guys.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:45pm Webhamster Henry:

Also from 2018: Bella Kline is a jeweler who makes microscopic bells and flutes out of silver. Working with a microscope, the tiny bells and clappers are crafted with pitches so high you can only hear the interference of their frequencies. The tiny whistles and ocarinas play only one note, and are played with eyedroppers.
  7:46pm headcleaner:

@Henry - is there a way to tweak the frequency bands on that "unlistenable" track somehow so that adults can ... sort of hear it? Or at least be able to able to extrapolate the high-frequency parts?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:48pm Webhamster Henry:

@headcleaner - sure - it's easy to transpose it down an octave, which is pretty detectable!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:49pm Webhamster Henry:

Here's some more hi freq hijinks I was doing 10 years ago:
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:50pm listener 126464:

Poultry set

Vocal fry + chicken-> Col. Sanders.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:52pm chresti:

Poultry set to celebrate the chicken bone age!
Avatar 7:52pm Dan Bodah:

Gotta come back to the chickens every now & then
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:53pm Richard S:

We need more "novelty" tunes like this.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:54pm listener 126464:

The Colonel is break dancing!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:56pm Webhamster Henry:

I remember this old Sheila Chandra.
  7:56pm headcleaner:

@Henry - good to know - I may give a shot sometime
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:59pm WR:

thank you Dan! Another great Fry!
  8:00pm yippie:

Down in the hen house on my knees,
I thought I heard a chicken sneeze,
But it was only the rooster sayin' his prayers
Thankin' the Lord for the hens upstairs
  8:00pm ?:

As the sun sets on the Gowanus Canal we bid Adiue to DB # 1 & all fryers. B safe & healthy
