The next day I was at ground zero helping as a volunteer with the clean up in a very small way. Thanks for speaking feelingly about your own experiences of the day.

Then they sent everyone home, because the scale of things wasn't clear (if the unthinkable can happen there, could it happen anywhere in any office building in any city?). I got in my car and decided to drive to my parents' house in the tiny town where I grew up, an hour away. My dad and his employees and friends were sitting in the shop, trying to take it all in. 5:00 came at noon that day. I thought about my friends in NYC and wondered if they were all OK.

	🎸 ♥ 4:39pm Ciggy: 9/11/01 a beautiful day, like today. I was riding up the elevator at 90 Chuch St (The building takes the whole block of Vesey St, Church St. West Broadway & Barclay St). At 8:43am I was riding the elevator when the lights and cab shook. I got off the elevator and a co-worker said an airplane crashed into the North tower, "We're going up to the 13th floor 'to get a better look'" Well, after 10 minutes of curiosity, it turned to disgust when I witnessed a beautiful well tanned man in an olive suit fall to his death. That sickened me. As I went back to my office, the second plane crashed into tower two. The powerful blast shook my building. I looked at my 2nd in command and said, that's no accident. Let's get the he'll outta here. Praise to our security. We quickly moved out to Church St in an orderly fashion moving North to Warren St. I saw a piece of an airplane turbine next to a Burger King. I saw FBI agents dash towards the WTC & workers full of ash & panic heading north, away from the WTC. Then, up in the sky, two F-16 fighters circling around the towers creating sonic booms. I decided I had enough and headed West where the height of the buildings were low, then headed north on Greenwich St. I met a co-worker, Kola who wanted to get his keys but I convinced him that there was no way security would allow him into our building. So we walked north. By the time we made it to Canal St. Tower 2 crumbled. Kola started crying. By the time we made it to 14th St the North tower crumbled. Kola made it to the PATH Station. I headed north to GCT via 5th Ave - fearful that the Empire State Building was the next victim. I made it to Grand Central and a train was departing on the Harlem Line to my hometown of Yonkers / Fleetwood. My only fear was getting the train through the tunnel (thinking terrorists would plant a bomb in the tracks). I made it home before 1pm. My parents were glued to the TV set. I walked in, my parents were not that comforting. But that's their nature. twenty years later, I'm ok with that. Never forget / Always remember.
	4:39pm Old Dave: I remember stumbling around my workplace outside Philadelphia explaining the situation to 3 Mexican and 7 Amish workers that morning. In hindsight, their reaction of bewildered condolence was pretty correct. After all, I was the only one among us paying any wage taxes.

Then they sent everyone home, because the scale of things wasn't clear (if the unthinkable can happen there, could it happen anywhere in any office building in any city?). I got in my car and decided to drive to my parents' house in the tiny town where I grew up, an hour away. My dad and his employees and friends were sitting in the shop, trying to take it all in. 5:00 came at noon that day. I thought about my friends in NYC and wondered if they were all OK.

	🎸 ♥ 4:39pm Ciggy: 9/11/01 a beautiful day, like today. I was riding up the elevator at 90 Chuch St (The building takes the whole block of Vesey St, Church St. West Broadway & Barclay St). At 8:43am I was riding the elevator when the lights and cab shook. I got off the elevator and a co-worker said an airplane crashed into the North tower, "We're going up to the 13th floor 'to get a better look'" Well, after 10 minutes of curiosity, it turned to disgust when I witnessed a beautiful well tanned man in an olive suit fall to his death. That sickened me. As I went back to my office, the second plane crashed into tower two. The powerful blast shook my building. I looked at my 2nd in command and said, that's no accident. Let's get the he'll outta here. Praise to our security. We quickly moved out to Church St in an orderly fashion moving North to Warren St. I saw a piece of an airplane turbine next to a Burger King. I saw FBI agents dash towards the WTC & workers full of ash & panic heading north, away from the WTC. Then, up in the sky, two F-16 fighters circling around the towers creating sonic booms. I decided I had enough and headed West where the height of the buildings were low, then headed north on Greenwich St. I met a co-worker, Kola who wanted to get his keys but I convinced him that there was no way security would allow him into our building. So we walked north. By the time we made it to Canal St. Tower 2 crumbled. Kola started crying. By the time we made it to 14th St the North tower crumbled. Kola made it to the PATH Station. I headed north to GCT via 5th Ave - fearful that the Empire State Building was the next victim. I made it to Grand Central and a train was departing on the Harlem Line to my hometown of Yonkers / Fleetwood. My only fear was getting the train through the tunnel (thinking terrorists would plant a bomb in the tracks). I made it home before 1pm. My parents were glued to the TV set. I walked in, my parents were not that comforting. But that's their nature. twenty years later, I'm ok with that. Never forget / Always remember.
	4:39pm Old Dave: I remember stumbling around my workplace outside Philadelphia explaining the situation to 3 Mexican and 7 Amish workers that morning. In hindsight, their reaction of bewildered condolence was pretty correct. After all, I was the only one among us paying any wage taxes.
