good morning DJ BB and all. have been enjoying this makaya remix album. his ‘autumn in new york’ remix off it is really gorgeous. the original eddie gale black rhythm happening track is so cool, was on a formative album for me that i bought ages ago called blue note rare grooves collecting a bunch of the funky/soul jazz/organ things from the late 60s/70s. eddie gale was waaaay out on that comp.

Invasion Of The Body Snatchers could have been a Mystery Science Theatre dud, but because it had good directing, writing and acting, it's a 4 star film. I wonder if Manos Hands Of Fate could've been a 4 star film if it had Orson Welles directing it?
  1:13pm
Nick Melucci:

The 70's remake is better.😄
  1:16pm
dan:

@Nick
I guess because it had Philip Kaufman directing it, and he went on to do "The Right Stuff", "The Unbearable Lightness Of Being" and "Quills".
  1:16pm
Eugene Bentley:

The original was historically more interesting than the remake, because it reflected the paranoia of the Red Scare at the time.

@Eugene...
Perhaps...but I prefer the dark ending of the 70s one.😄

Hey, Bob. Body Snatchers was filmed in Sierra Madre, just a few miles from here!

I saw The Dragon Brothers playing Pink Floyd type music live in front of a surfing movie at The Santa Monica Civic Auditorium in the early 70's. I do believe the band was simply called Dragon.

I always associate Chris Conner with a song called "Something Cool." A very "cool" song revolving around booze and a pickup at a bar.
  1:32pm
Gerry from Miami:

Leonard Nimoy was in that 80's remake of "Invasion of the Body Snatchers." It was set in the SF Bay area rather than LA.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:34pm
Franco Twinkie:

Gerry, my mom and I went to see the remake. It was good, but it didn't have the zing that the original had in spades.

@Franco Twinkie. Maybe we just weren't as paranoid of the Commies in the 80's as in the 50's.
