Charles Mingus said jazz was a word invented to separate musicians from their money. Music for a Free World brings us together, drawing listeners to the healing power of smooth free jazz. Each week, surprise guests bring their own sides to spin and their instruments of choice to spontaneously jam.

this is ecstatic music. I'm listening with my daughter and marveling
  2:53pm
Dan Clucas:

LaDonna, thanks for your perspective re starting relatively late on an instrument, particularly a stringed one. It corroborates how I've felt about beginning the violin at age 53! Even though I've played music my whole life, the violin is a brand new universe to me in many ways and I want to keep it that way. I would offer the same encouragement to anyone who wants to begin a new instrument (or anything at all) later in life.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:54pm
mackeral:

agree 100%, Dan. to begin a thing really is wonderful

Was the basis for "Bonaparte's Retreat" Paddy Maloney's tune for The Chieftains?
  3:23pm

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:24pm

the original bonaparte's retreat tune goes back to the 1800s at least, i think "american" folk
