James, I just saw that Slift is coming to NYC. When I first heard them on efd's show, their Bandcamp page had a note saying "want to play D&D with us? E-mail!" They took it down at some point. But I figure I'll bring a coupla dice to the show and roll them up on stage at some point. Why not roll the dice, eh?

Well, she didn't specify how disrupting the Tour would affect any change in the direction of France's governance apart from gaining attention, if that was their intention. Adam & Androu: the entire point of protest is disruption. If you can't shut down the machinery of capitalism, you are not a threat to anyone in power, so why would they take your demands seriously? Protest must disrupt. So, yeah, fully behind a protest that can shut down an internationally broadcast sporting event -- and do a good enough job to get the athletes to pay attention!

And I like sports! (Not cycling, but you know, that may change soon if the weather cools off and I can get my halberd out of the closet.)

My records reside in a studio in the backyard. I'd start with the s/t album, which features a bunch of the gang that played on Linda's albums at the time. But don't miss Endless Nights. Here "The Water Is Wide" is really lovely.

it's so funny, if I heard her sing this one more time I was gonna strangle her but now the tears

^Her "The Water..." Features Garth Hudson on accordion, iirc.

Before she knew she was sick, she did visit for a show upstate for Mo, and I took her to karaoke so that was nice

Yeah. That's the problem with life. We're always getting it wrong while at the same time in retrospect getting it massively right.

in high school she recorded a song for her BF who was at college. I "borrowed" that tape, copied it, and played it for my mom at some point. She was not happy about that. But it was beautifui. I still hope that copy will surface.

just the song, not the personal audio letter. I'm not a monster. But it was Diane harmonizing with herself and it was most wonderful

Also, cheers, my Dark Dears! Hoisting this Brooklyn high for Julie and Diane and for all of you.

@6:47 Julie: harmonizing with herself - whoah, did she have a home studio setup or something? Since you mentioned the audio letter nature of the tape.

A thing I'm finding with people who've passed - it's so frustrating now everyone's in touch with everyone. & I wish I could interact with them now as the maybe wiser but @ least different person that I am now.

Julie:

No she played back a cassette and sang to it. Very rudimentary setup!

@6:49 Julie: that kind of lo-fi setup can (and probably did) add some magical fairy dust to a beautiful voice like that of your sister's...

We need a Wikipedia editor to add Diane to Mo Pleasure's list of collaborators.

Even if I never had siblings I found the bonus hour rather touching - not to forget full of good tunes. And those tapes of your sister's work are a proper treasure chest. I will check them out if you put them to youtube for instance. Thanks, good night!

Thanx for sharing such wonderful memories of your sister, Julie! She had such a great voice and I'm sure she would have gone on to great success had misfortune not derailed her from the course of her life. God Bless You.
