As for McKenna & the Stoned Ape thing - I'm with him as far as our ancestors in deeper PreHistory were out there in the forests & jungles where the plants & fungi were. & being high on them is perhaps in fact our Natural State after all. & even that this is profound for Society. As for Fungi being Aliens - this seems Metaphor ? The fact (?) that Fungi are genetically closer to us than to Plants is almost more than I can fathom - tho our co-evolution is apparent...

Autumn can provoke wanderlust though not so much this year. Flight/freeze? The seasons still change here it’s just subtle and confusing because fall is the planting season and more tourists come in the winter. I still walk the beach singing boys of summer. Aliens and mushrooms would be McKenna theory as far as I know. I am dressing today some kind of a black and white outfit with old Niki Barr band t shirts.

Got the fire in the woodstove started to take the chill of autumn out of the house. Leaves are down here, except the oak, of course, oaks are the unkindest tree, dropping leaves from fall to winter to spring. Not wanderlust here, more hygge / cozy time. This Rupert Holmes song makes me smile for some reason.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:37am

Rupert Holmes also was the writer of 'Timothy'? right?
Avatar 11:37am
Joe B:

@thin slice - it was not a number one song though
Avatar 11:38am
Roberto:

Correct, Dano! Perhaps the only hit song about cannibalism.

Dano, yep

This is fantastic! I haven't heard this since I was like 8 years old. Forgot all about it
Avatar 11:38am

And Wikipedia tells me it wasn't released until 1980. So I was lied to.

@thin slice - you were on the right track - pina colada by holmes was the final no. 1 of the 70s
  11:40am
TerrDE:

Joe, Pseudo Echo is in that category
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:41am
Krys O.:

That's what Rosco means? I thought it had to do with the stage lighting company.

@efd: Really enjoyed your premium this year, Evan!

Heya Joe and gang, let's get treated and not tricked.

Evan, I am still working diligently at naming that unnamed ska song you played. Should have an answer in a few years ...

@Carmichael I appreciate your efforts!

I need to hear the unnamed ska song. What label was it on?

unknown label, chresti. unknown everything ... Here's the link (it's at 1:33):www.wfmu.org...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:46am
efd:

@chresti No label, it was on a mix tape someone had from the early ‘80s. I played it on my show twice, shared it with some serious music heads, sent it around on our internal WFMU email list… no one knows it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:47am
efd:

And it’s not Shazam-able, nor do the lyrics return anything useful on internet searches.

I used to record the Reggae Beat on KCRW in the 80s.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:51am

@chresti it’s really more of a “ska” song, imho, not authentic. Very likely English.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:55am

@chresti Could be! One of the challenges in identifying it is that there’s no discernible chorus or title. Sounds similar to Madness but I’m pretty sure it’s not them. My guess is it’s a non-LP B-side that was never released later on, hence the lack of Shazam-ability.
