↳ Song: "It Ain't Necessarily So" by "Paul Robeson"
I revere Paul Robeson but don't see how that track fits the dance theme.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:25am
Jan Turkenburg:

↳ WR @10:23
The dance theme doesn't apply to all songs. It's more like when I'm doing a show round a certain artist. A lot of music has something to do with it, but not all.

WR:

↳ Jan Turkenburg @10:25
Ok, got it and greatly enjoying.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:27am
Jan Turkenburg:

When preparing many of my shows I start off with searching for a certain theme, artist or style and let serendipity take over every now and then.

WR:

↳ Song: "Koe Koe Dans" by "Kees Pruis"
The music for this sounds very similar to what was often used as the theme song for the The 3 Stooges short comedy films. I assume some US arranger adopted it. Wonder if there were much earlier versions.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:45am
Jan Turkenburg:

The music was originally written for Laurel & Hardy. With one melody (the coo coo part) expressing the clumsy Laurel and the other melody the poche Hardy.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:46am
Jan Turkenburg:

Kees Pruis starts his song with: this is the Laurel and Hardy tune, doesn't matter if you don't know the words, just dance with me and sing 'coo coo'.
Avatar 10:47am
DJ Guin:

just watched some Laurel & Hardy this past weekend. still holds up and is funnier than the Stooges.

Ah, thanks, my mistake. Right, Laurel & Hardy.

Your emphatic "Not Allowed" just made me realize that you have this yes / no motif in your programs. Except the one where you have the duck / racoon motif.

↳ Song: "I'll Dance At Your Wedding" by "Alice Babs"
Alice Babs, Swedish, great singer, great recording.

I was thinking 1948, as listed on discogs, was too early but I looked further and find her recording career started in 1939 at age of 15.

WR:

↳ Song: "I'll Dance At Your Wedding" by "Buddy Clark with ...
One thing that made me question the date of the Babs recording was it being a year after the Clark recording. Several other recordings exist (Fats Waller for example) so have not tracked down the history of the song. Clark had had moderate success before WWII, his recording of the wedding dance song was made as his career was blossoming in 1947. Info I read about Babs did comment on how remarkably in her young career, with access only to records, she kept up with the latest in swing and pop.

Sadly Clark died in a private plane accident in 1949, age 37.

Footnote: Clark recorded a song titled "Linda" that had been written for recently born Linda McCartney. "Linda" was recorded several times but Clark / Noble had the hit.
