I have no hard feeling against CDs. They just don't last as long as vinyls.

@Yvang. Have you lost data from some of your CDs? I have a very large collection dating from the early 80s and have had no problem. Vinyl, of course, will exhibit degradation after many plays---ticks and pops, etc.
  7:48pm
Listener Gregory:

I’ve had a couple of CDs go bad on me, but that is out of some large uncounted number. I hope not to live long enough for that error rate to increase significantly.
  7:59pm
Gerry from Miami:

WOW! I lived not far from Locust Street in Philadelphia in the fall of 1964, when this Hasaan ibn Ali recording was made. I was in the UPenn dorms at 37th and Spruce.

Yes many of my old CDs are now unreadable. Maybe I did not take good care of them, but I remember back in the days they were promoted as they would last forever which was a lie.

Living in Vermont, I scoff at virtual COWWS. Just yesterday I saw the real thing, and they were very content. Moooo!

@Yvang. True that! "Perfect sound forever," I recall was the industry claim. I have had a few problems with recordable CDs that I dubbed from the originals.

Recordable CDs are even more unreliable. Thinking I used to back up my digital files on CDs makes me nauseous.

I have no understanding of Marion Brown. Every piece of his seems different. I heard him once live, and I was unimpressed. But his recordings sound nothing like my memory of his performance. Help!
