I seem to remember an SCTV skit where a character mistakenly believes that Chuck Mangion recorded the love boat theme

Stickmen is still on my - haven't heard live, but want to - list. I had a Stick, but having already played guitar for years. I just couldn't relate to the tuning.
He was the band member who took my ticket when I saw the first Peter Gabriel solo tour in Poughkeepsie. At the time, I had no idea what he looked like. Then...he was up on the stage with Peter killing it!
Fun fact. The only person in recorded history to be hit by a meteorite lived in Alabama. Across the street from the residence was the Comet Drive-in Theater (Sylacauga, Alabama).
I once called Chuck to see how much it would cost for him to play at my wedding. This was in 1999. He was very nice on the phone. I forget how much he quoted me.
was not a fan, either. the willem dafoe episode of fishing with john is a classic, though.

@Webhamster Henry. The current QUADROPHENIA LP has the Royal Philharmonic with opera star Alfie Boe, and the immortal Billy Idol. Also featured is Phil Daniels, whom I don't know.
Climate change is the only issue that truly matters. Everything else, although horrific, is a distraction.

I'm with you, Joe. Earth Day and Christmas. Not that I'd want to hear carols all year, but the peace and goodwill thing could stand some more dusting off.

There is a HUGE disinformation campaign about climate change coming from both oil and anti oil economic interests who share nothing w you or me. Do your own research. Theres distortion, misrepresentation and out and out lying from all sides.
We're already seeing an ad up here that talks about how Biden has signed legislation to ban gas-powered vehicles. Riiiight. It's from gas-producers org but of course flies by at the very end.
Henry Ford made a car that ran on hemp oil in the early 1940s. Apparently the body had some sort of hemp material as well but I am not 100% on that part.
Yes! Perhaps my favorite example of this type of thing is Mick Hucknall (Simply Red). Went from seeing the Pistols at the legendary Lesser Free Trade Hall gig to VH1 superstar

THANKS, Rev Rabbit! A name and role I had forgotten he played.
...pretty sure that Climate Change is real & hugely consequential for Weather Events
...Scientists having told us a *real real* long time ago that higher temps & more moisture in the atmosphere from melting ice would mean Fewer - but Larger Storms, which (frankly) even a fool should be able to see for themselves has become our reality - in spades

Scott McCloud of Girls Against Boys was a (literally) card-carrying member of some smoker's rights organization. Just realized the irony of someone named "McCloud" being a heavy smoker

Manure. Yes, methane is especially bad for temperature change. & lest anyone forget - Environment is one good reason to not support Eating Animals & the impact it has.
But CowPoo - more than Carbon form Fossil Fuels you reckon ? & who funds *this* study, with this conclusion - & what is their particular history of 'expertise' - since we're on a Do "Your Own" Research kick right here...

Yes, Rev, exactly. Here's OED's definition:
A professional male dancing-partner or escort; a ‘kept’ man (see kept adj. 1a), esp. a young man supported financially by an older woman in return for his attentions.
Popularity contest, for sure. Museum has some nice artifacts on display, tho. Saw Jim Morrison's Boy Scout report card, Jimi Hendrix's childhood drawings of sports heroes. Michael Jackson's spangled glove.

It'd be fun to hear a set of rock adaptations of classical, e.g., The Quick's cover of "It Won't Be Long," which cribs Love Sculpture's "Sabre Dance," which covers Khachaturian's composition.

I met Joe McGasko at a Lame Drivers show. Joe introduced himself to me! I think someone gave him $20 to do that, just to make me feel like I'm somebody.

Working at the Record Bar next to the bookstore in the mall in Macon Ga. had its
perks. I had a BOX of I.R.S. Singles by an unknown local band called R.E.M. “Radio Free Europe”.
Had a crush on the woman at bookstore and she gifted me 5 or 6 issues of Art Forum with the masthead torn off. They had a flexi of “Let X equal X” by Laurie Anderson.
Can’t remember who it was by, but I had at least one that came on a box of cereal ! It barely played ! Thanks for flexing J

I had a bunch of cool R.E.M. rarities from growing up in ATL and spending most of the money I earned in HS on records ... all gone now. Lost a bunch of stuff when my dad died when I was in college.
Did I walk into a flexi conversation? I have an Eva-Tone sales kit, sent to me by rep Dan Mikrut in 1985 when I was high school senior, producing a fanzine. He treated me like an actual customer.
There was an 80’s magazine called “Flexipop” which had a free flexi-disc with each issue. I remember having one by Altered Images but would have to go digging in the basement to see if I had any others.
Sort of timely with TheBeatle right now putting out four early Hit Singles on one-sided 3" records - with nice graphix & stuff. I don't need another artifact per se, but why not...
Bob Brainen played 90 minutes of dB's last Saturday.
