hey irwin, a friend of mine has become obsessed with your songs in the key of z book; any chance for a sequel?
  9:08am
JJZ:

I'm enjoying this Intersection song.
  9:10am
Irwin:

Lonnie: I don't have the patience to write a KoZ sequel. Will your friend write it for me? Will you? Any takers?
  9:12am
Negator:

Irwin, Did you hear Rupture show on Fri. last week? Had a Canadian DJ remixing a bunch of Sooca. Sounded terrific!
  9:13am
Negator:

Socca, I mean.
  9:15am
GUMBY:

That Intersection piece was way out, like the Land of the Giants theme, but trippier. Nice set.

Parq:

Ol' Pal, what a delightful surprise! Looking forward to freeform virtuosity this AM.
  9:20am

Speaking of which, can anyone recommend how I can get old cassette tapes into either CD or MP3 format? Best way?
  10:39am
carol:

Hi Otis. I was sleeping too. But it's not half over yet. He's playing hippie music.

  10:47am
Irwin:

Otis: Bong hits for Jesus and Mohammed! Peace, bro.
  10:47am
Rob W:

Regarding converting cassette audio into mp3s or cd tracks: There are a lot of ways... You can buy a stand-alone cd burner, that you use without a computer, and simply connect the cassette player to it and dub. You can buy a Pro Tools mbox or mbox mini and hook it up with your computer - that's kind of the more serious and precise way to do it. That gives you both the hardware you need to load audio from any source into your computer, and the software to edit it and convert to WAV files for cds or mp3 files. That's what I do but I do Pro Tools production for a living. Also I believe someone is now marketing a cassette player with USB connector to the computer for loading cassette tracks into your computer. One problem you have no matter what is slicing up the audio into individual tracks. Some programs exist to attempt to do that for you automatically, but the only really surefire and precise way to do that is manually, with a program like Pro Tools or other audio editing programs, and that takes time no matter what.
  10:48am
jonathan:

pamela,
i just bought an i-mic. it works on either pc or mac.
about $35. it allows you to hook up your turn table, cassette player, 4 track etc. to your computer.
  10:49am
otis:

so when are we going to hear.... gulp... hannah montana?
  10:50am
Mickey Mephistopheles:

Pamela: Tape Deck -> Computer sound card -> your hard drive. Good software: Audacity. Better software: Adobe Audition. Good sound card: Whatcha got. Better sound card: M-Audio Audiophile 192 or 2496.

Irwin: Hi!
  10:50am
Rob W:

Correction on my cassette-to-mp3/cd comment: I should have said "stand-alone cd RECORDER" rather than "burner." For instance the Sony RCD-W500C is a widely available consumer model, though I can' t vouch for it.
  10:51am
Cecile:

I like that you like Lee Morgan so much.
  10:53am
Marty from Chico:

"Drive on Driver" could have been a Kenny Rogers song in another life!
  10:53am
otis:

i agree with cecile. you could play a whole 3 hours of lee morgan. great music to work with and my toes are tappin.
  10:54am
GUMBY:

Love the Lee Morgan. I saw a picture of him from Francis Wolfe at Blue Note and Lee had a bandana. Does that make him a hippie?
  10:59am
Cecile:

Yes. A total hippie.

Irwin, ITA. we should have 179 minutes of Lee Morgan next time.
  11:04am
otis:

i thought you'd have hannah montana's work on a usb drive connected to your key chain for fast listening at any given moment. i am now convinced you are a hippie. i'm calling crazy eyes killah, he wants his jersey back.
  11:04am
Pat:

First-time listener from Columbus, Ohio. Enjoying the show.
  11:06am
Laurie:

Hanna Montana thinks Jesus rocks: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rb_HXgPlgEs
  11:06am
Laurie:

For the record, I think Raptor Jesus rocks.
  11:09am
Pamela:

Thanks!
  11:09am
carol:

If it comes from a Putumayo cd, I think that makes it hippie music.
  11:10am
Irwin:

In tribute to Hatch, we are all honorary hippies today. Go Obama, the New Messiah!
  11:11am
Midwest Trish:

Bong hits for Obama!
  11:11am
Cecile:

Carol: double hippie points if you bought it at a store that has rocks that say "love" on them, and bags woven of the hair of organic unicorns and faeries.
  11:11am
Negator:

  11:18am

Cecile,
I think Irwin shops there weekly.
  11:19am
Cecile:

LOL! He should be able to redeem his hippie points for an incense burner or something, then.
  11:21am
aharon:

  11:22am

sahak:

  11:34am
dei xhrist:

This Raining McCain will guarantee more votes for anyone but McCain.
  11:35am
Parq:

  11:35am
