  9:25am Vivian:

Hey everyone, I'm headed for NY today. In between visits with family, I want to go record shopping. Where should I go? Also, if you know some drinking establishments with local brews on tap, let me know.

as for records stores, it depends on what your looking for, but if in manahattan, other music or academy are good starts....
  9:29am BSI:

My bank account still has massive scar tissue from the last time I was in NYC and stumbled into Other Music......
  9:30am Cecile:

What about that Brooklyn Brewery? And they have a taco truck in that neighborhood.
  9:30am Parq:

Is Ken channeling Donald Rumsfeld? Yes, I think so.
  9:30am Vivian:

Thanks Max and Bad Ronald!

Nachum Segal says "good show, ken"
  9:31am Joe Steele:

The Blind tiger on Bleeker street is one of the best beer destinations in the city. The have local and non local taps.

The Swift (E 4th and Bowery) is a nice Irish Pub and it's close to the Other Music on Eat 4th Street.
  9:32am Vivian:

Cecile, good suggestion. From what I located, Brooklyn Brewery is only open on Fridays. Sadly, I will be at a family dinner this Friday, where I can not escape.
  9:34am Laurei:

I don't think I want to think about any president sucking their own dick. DNW.
  9:34am Mark:

sucking his own what?
  9:34am Cecile:

Oh, dear. The taco truck is around a fair amount, from what I gather.
  9:35am Ken:

Mark, it was "sucking his own three dicks."
  9:35am John from Oslo:

my girlfriend was impressed by my moonwalk yesterday

  9:38am Negator:

"a COP WAS GETTIN IT FROM BEHIND.."
  9:38am jan:

Other music can get you lots of what you you hear on Ken's show.
  9:38am Hugo:

My bank account took a hit from visiting Downtown Music Gallery the first time. They used to be on the Bowery, but they've moved to a new location.

As for beer, I was surprised by the paucity of good pubs in Manhattan, but maybe I was looking in the wrong places. Generally speaking, then, Germany and Belgium, and the British Isles for good ales.

  9:41am Vivian:

Thanks all for the suggestions. I checked out Other Music's website,-right up my alley.
  9:42am Parq:

Jan, you mean Other Music the store? If so, I second that.
  9:43am Vicki:

I'm REALLY glad Harry D Cup ain't on Twitter.
  9:43am annie:

ok, i'm sick
  9:43am Hugo:

Here's the new address:

Downtown Music Gallery
13 Monroe Street
New York, NY 10002-7351

Other Music is recommended, too, but you'd expect more good stores in a place like Manhattan.
  9:43am Negator:

Harry is sick.

Harry D Cup is saying everything that is true about this country.

  9:48am Vicki:

thanks for playing The Muppets
  9:48am Mark:

get ready to hit the button Ken
  9:48am BSI:

funny how fresh the Pistols sound after playing the hell out of this record 15 years ago, then not touching it since then...
  9:48am Tom:

If you're in Brooklyn, Academy is great for vinyl, and it's very close to Brooklyn Brewery which is open Sat afternoons too, something like 12-4.
  9:49am Parq:

Hugo, when the Virgin Superstores went under earlier this summer, people said over and over that there are "no more record stores" in NYC. I kept patiently explaining that there are plenty, but some people feel that, if it's not a part of a big-box chain, it doesn't exist.
  9:50am Mark:

Let's think of other songs with fuck for Ken to play
  9:50am Peanut Gallery:

How patient? Still patient?
  9:51am ozzy skateboard:

oh is that the theme? just got here...
  9:51am BSI:

There's always that timeless seasonal classic by Fear, 'Fuck Christmas' -- that's good for an itchy dump-button-finger.
  9:51am Vivian:

Argh! Thursday is my only free day. The rest of my stay will be out on the Island until Sunday. Thanks though for the suggestion, Tom.
  9:51am Joe Steele:

Aye, Brooklyn Brewery is open Saturday as well. Good for fresh beer and hipster watching. Mugs Ale House is nearby as well, on Bedford Ave.
  9:53am jeremy the listener:

the air is getting slippery by primus. no dumping required
  9:55am John from Oslo:

Hi Mark, A good fuck-song is "Fuck off You Fuckin Fuck!" by sideburn satan

Wait to listen till Ken's show is over : )
  9:57am Swami:

Permanent Records in Billyburg; I think.
  9:58am Ken:

I need your help everybody. Trying to come up with an idea for Seveb Second Delay tonight that is somehow related to Craigslist. Let me know...
  9:58am JCityJensen:

Thanks OsloJohn!
  9:59am Joe Steele:

Theres a song about fucking by a band called Toupé. I think it's called "Fucking"
  10:00am Vivian:

Andy sells his soul on Craigslist?
  10:00am JCityJensen:

√ this out for the Craigslist : http://current.com/items/89926029_the-craigslist-genie.htm
  10:00am Cecile:

How about you have people on Craigslist give you show ideas?
  10:00am Hugo:

Parq, I'm sure there is, but you wouldn't normally know about them unless you're a local or have abundant time for just walking around and making accidental discoveries. That said, I had lots of time in Brussels a couple of years back and found many good second-hand stores. 10-inch Blue Notes from the fifties? Highly tempting ...
  10:00am Mark:

I heard Michael Jackson's soul is on sale on Craigslist
  10:01am Joe Steele:

My cousin (english major, or something) posted a resumé on Craigslist and got a job offer to be a foot model.
  10:04am PMD:

Hi all, listening and not commenting. Fuck.
  10:05am Ken:

How could we use Craiglist to get people who are NOT listening to call in to the show?
  10:05am still b/p:

Maybe some confusionation if he listed himself as a qualified pedant.
  10:06am jeremy the listener:

get all yer listeners to post their MJ paraphanalia (using pics from the internet) and list the station phone # as the only means of contact
  10:07am Parq:

Someone mentioned Academy. It has a branch in Manhattan, too, on my favorite block of the Flatiron Dist, 18th between 5th and 6th.

Ken, offer them a pony.
  10:07am Vicki:

Ken - tell them they'll get 5 dollars from Andy if they phone in
  10:08am -max-:

Nice one, Vicki! Serves two purposes, getting people to call and soaking Andy.

Ken, in a key way, "Hurt Locker" is very much about the Iraq War, and how warfare has come out of jungles and mountains and come onto city streets where "The enemy" might or might not be standing and watching as soldiers do their jobs. Did I also think it was an exceptional movie? Yes I did.
  11:01am jeremy the listener:

the job could be for a local radio station talk show slot
  11:01am Happy Listener:

Offer attention, offer Andy's abuse, it doesn't matter, people will call. Posting it in the message forums (like musical beat) may get more interesting results than just placing an ad.
  11:01am JCityJensen:

Hey Ken - can u play any 'Drawers' today? and/also (anyone) - where can i get CD of them - I contacted the band but they said they havent released anything yet........
  11:01am Cecile:

I am very excited to see this. I have seen clips and erm, been blown away. That scene with David Morse...
  11:02am Steve Gugel:

When does your show begin?
  11:02am Cecile:

please don't f- with Venue, Ken.
  11:03am Steve Gugel:

Why am I asking?
  11:03am Ken:

Great ideas about Craigslist all! Parq, that's true, but I guess what made it such a great movie for me is that it spoke about war beyong the Iraq war as well.
  11:03am Steve Gugel:

Why did you get me on this question kick. I don't know.
  11:03am Cecile:

thank you! I like this song.
  11:04am Listener zero:

Ask for little kids on craigslist.
  11:04am c:

ken, go to craigslist personnel section and start emailing everyone - many emails, maybe a couple responses - tell them you are a big time radio station in nyc offering a "prize" (try diff cities)
  11:05am Steve Gugel:

That sounds like "I'm your fetus, it's your desire"
  11:06am Ken:

  11:06am ozzy skateboard:

So most of us are Losers !!!! HEY NOW!!!!!!!!
  11:20am Parq:

Ken, I totally get and agree with your point as well. As one critic put it, this is an Iraq war movie for people who don't like Iraq war movies. And I'm glad you finally told 'Cile you love her; I was beginning to worry.

Way back when that record was on AM radio, I thought it was "I'm your penis, I'm your fire." The 14-year-old mind . . .
11:20am Tom ( The Bactrian Support Network ):

RealPlayer is for Geeks and pornographers anyway
  11:22am triish:

Hootie! Say it! It's fun. Hootie!
  11:26am doug from dc:

Well the good thing about RealPlayer was that it always buffers, so I could scroll back if I missed something. But I switched to MP3 a while ago because of the improved sound quality.
  11:27am Happy Listener:

"Jibba Jab" sounds like Mr. T and Louis Armstrong got into the teleporter accident from "The Fly".
  11:29am c:
