Listener comments!

  9:06pm
john:

Hey Evan! Thanks for the band info, we were just saying they sound like they should be from Pittsburgh. And apparently there was, according to Becky's brother, "some sort of huge Donnie Iris event" the night we arrived. The mind, such as it is, boggles.
  9:07pm
efd:

I'm starting to think there's ALWAYS "some sort of huge Donnie Iris event" in Pittsburgh.
  9:11pm
john:

It is, after all, Donnie Iris Territory!
  9:17pm
cheri:

hello evan--i'm back,,how was your summer? mine was great,,,i got a greta tan...as always i love your show!!! please play more 70s,,,,thnx efd
  9:29pm
cheri:

tell us evan how was your vacay??
  9:38pm
efd:

hey Cheri, I thought maybe I'd never hear from you again. My vacation was great, glad yours was too.
  9:38pm
chimp:

Oi oi oi!
  10:06pm
C:

weird. i haven't checked in to the comments board in months and cheri is here when i get, apparently after a long absence.

oh my god, am i cheri and not know it???
  10:10pm
efd:

C, i can't answer that question but it's nice to have you on the comments board again regardless.
  10:12pm
C:

Better than being back on the board, great to hear the Funk again!
  10:25pm
seang:

Hell Yeah, Feels Good to Feel!
  10:36pm
Sybil:

Belated good evening to whoever's here... Slow night on the comment board tonight!
I'm prepping for the fall term, what's your excuse? ;)

Anyhow, great music to do it by.
  10:37pm
Brian:

The Jim Jones Revue is the big revelation of the show so far... But I missed the first part of the show, will need to check out the archive to get that segue between the first and second songs... so amazing it's a trending topic on Twitter.
  10:39pm
Parq:

Just joining the comments, but I've been listening all along. Evan, no worries about that Dickies glitch at the top of the show. Not knowing that particular track, I just figured you were busting a funny voice about your own trip to Minni, and did not realize what I was listening to until I heard "Manitoba" mentioned.
  10:54pm
efd:

hi Sybil, Parq and Brian! Thanks for checking in.

Sybil, I feel like in general there are fewer comments at this time, although I think there are actually more people listening. My theory is that the earlier-evening listeners are otherwise engaged, as opposed to late-night chilling by their keyboard.
  10:56pm
efd:

At least, that's what I tell myself to stave off the feeling that no one's listening! :)
  10:58pm
Sybil:

You could be onto something, efd. The way my weird schedule will run this Fall, I'll be getting home just about in time to be finishing supper for the start of your show. But since Thursday is the only day I don't have an early-early morning class, at least I'll be able to stay up till midnight... if I don't fall asleep...
  11:01pm
Sybil:

(Not to suggest that your show would ever put me to sleep!)
  11:13pm
CP:

this mantles song rules!
  11:15pm
efd:

and that lock groove at the end makes it ideal for the TGSFKATMTO!
  11:24pm
efd:

ok everyone, get ready for the story behind the story of The Yachts' "Look Back In Love (Not In Anger)"
  11:34pm
cheri:

thanx for your company evan it was a great show,,,,i hope to be back next week,,,g'nite,,
  11:37pm
efd:

thank YOU, Cheri!
  11:39pm
jason:

that Marshmallow Staircase was killer! I've been meaning to buy that record, you just pushed me over the edge. And apparently they're not sold out of the 100 LPs yet... Anyway, enjoying the show Evan, been tuned in since The Laureates (will have to catch the opening set in the archives)
  11:42pm
Scott S.:

Stark Naked and the car thieves seems a surprising name for an early 60's group with that kind of sound. Evan "Funk" Davies, thank you for that fascinating history lesson
  11:44pm
efd:

Scott, that's a good point and I should point out that Chuck included the caveat "if you believe the website" when referencing the Stark Naked version. But regardless, even Teddy & the Pandas were covering it.
  11:46pm
efd:

Jason, yeah, that Marshmallow Staircase is great! Haven't been able to get it on the show as much as I'd like, unfortunately. Thanks for listening!
  11:47pm
Sybil:

OK, wreckless eric singing "put a little love in your heart" after that wonderful historical journey through "Look back in love not in anger"... purrrrrrfect!
  11:51pm
Danne D:

Hi EFD! (or is that Ev Funkin' Davies?) Hi Funk fans. Sorry I missed the show tonight - I am in DC actually :) went to the Nationals vs Cubs game tonight - what a great ballpark! Can't wait to check out the archive. Have a good night and see you next week :)
  11:53pm
efd:

hey Danne, great you got to see a game in DC! I hope to make it to that park next year. Thanks for checking in!
  11:54pm
Tom C.:

Pet Sounds Schmet Schmounds.
  11:55pm
efd:

Tom, I think I am going to steal that for the show title.
  12:00am
Tom C.:

Lovely. Summer Days (and Summer Nights) Schmummer Schmays (schmand Schmummer Schmights) doesn't have the same ring.
  12:25am
Joe:

I'm just stopping in to repeat Scott's point that Stark Naked and the Car Thieves seems like a HIGHLY unlikely name, indeed.
