After the ball was over, Bonnie took out her glass eye,
Put her false teeth in the water, hung up her wig to dry;
Placed her false arm on the table, laid her false leg on the chair;
After the party was over, Bonnie was only half there!

Mrs. Yankfan asks me, "Where does Monica find all this great music?" I explain that Monica has an account at the Great Music Emporium.
  7:35pm
ken in denver:

Off to a nice start, Monica!
  7:35pm
david:

brighter side: u cleaned up a lot of Goo from that surface, Monica :)
  7:36pm
Andrew Waterloo:

I found one credit that says the song features a solo by Floyd Smith, recorded March 1939

Sunday night at 9pm be gone! Why can't this show last forever, Monica?
  7:37pm
JTKMDNY:

Southern Comfort! First alcohol I ever got drunk on (at the ripe old age of 14)
  7:37pm

It gets rid of excess copies of Sonic Youth "Goo" from any surface!

monica:

Andrew Waterloo - that must be it!! thanks mucho... david - goo be all gone.... hey there, ken from denver!... deanland - and tell Mts. Yankfan that I spend WAY too much time and $$ there....

texas scott:

me.too JTKMDNY
first drunk with SC
I was 17
  7:39pm
deanland:

Sounds like Goo-B-Gone is now Goo-B-Went. Revolto-rama aromas: Liver or peas, or worse yet, liver and peas. Revolting. And most Estee Lauder products. I once hugged someone who was wearing a bunch of Estee Lauder yuk, and had to contain myself and not heave all over her.
  7:41pm
sugarwolf:

Black Cherry Merlot Hand Sanitizer. The smell of hand sanitizer is already gross, now it also smells like cough syrup.

And all the other women at work are obsessed with it.
  7:42pm
tr;sh:

Rotten tofu rushes ahead of my eating frequency. And laundry detergent/fabric softener baking in the dryer. Putrid exhibits A and B.
  7:42pm
sweet cheri:

monica this may sound real crazy, but any kind of shaving cream makes me blow chunks!! so i try to avoid it.
  7:43pm
Lucy:

I took a class field trip to a sewage treatment plant. There was a giant room with olympic swimming pool sized vats of solid sewage, dubbed "the extra credit room" cuz that's what you got for staying in there for a whole minute breathing it in. The smell was like a mix of shit and burning rubber...
The other thing i hate is the smell of Yankee Candle stores!
  7:44pm
texas scott:

I once yakked at the smell of my aunt Geneva's pea salad, at a 4th of July picnic.
I will NEVER touch the stuff.or go near it.
But she's long gone and SOMEONE always makes it at a fam gathering.

Doug S. - ha! You best take that up withthe fine Dave Mandl!... JTKMDNY - made ya puke, huh?... deanland - oh yes - aroma overkill (especially in confined spaces like an elevator) can be suffocating. jury out on liver!.... S'Wolf - there's such a thing as Black Cherry Merlot Hand Sanitizer - feeling sick already.... tr;sh - i hear ya, lady! (you are a lady, right? if not, sorry!)... sweet cheri - chunks you say?... Lucy - oh good god. and candle stores! P.U.!... t'scott, now that's funny....

Catsilk:

Checkin' in at last >> ! The leftover turkey is finally no more. Nice to be here with a big, full belly-o-thanks. Love the shoes and eyebrows.
  7:56pm
sugarwolf:

Certain air fresheners are a bit icky. We had an apple cinnamon one at work and it just made me think "now the bathroom smells like poo muffins"
  7:57pm
tr;sh:

Party of drunken teens. One has puked considerably. Wafting from the kitchen is a second pizza, heavy with the same Parmesan that coats the bathroom floor. It's a wafer thin moment.

(Lady? Yes. ..more lady than lady-like.)
  7:57pm
G:

Done eating, so now I can type without greasing up the kb.

Gonna be honest, which is my simultaneous strong point and weak point...

Ya know those really heavily scented bathroom wipes that some people use? The ones where the scent is so strong you can't quite tell what the smell actually is, but it's really, really strong, and doesn't smell like anything you ever smelled in nature? And then when someone uses one in the bathroom, the scent wafts down the hall into nearby rooms for 5-10 minutes afterwards?

I always think to myself, "Jeez, is THAT how you want to smell down there? SRSLY?!?!?!?"
Avatar 7:57pm
monica:

mizz, catsilk lani!.... s'wolf, yeah, scents made to mask make things worse - let poo be poo fer chrissakes.
  7:58pm
Doug S.:

Anyone remember WFMU's pizza-scented air fresheners? They were a premium given away during the '91 or '92 marathon.
  7:59pm
Listener Schned:

Amazing how masking smells turns out worse, ex. Irish Spring soap (hurl). I'd rather endure yer nasty but chemical-free pheromones!! Ups to TX Scott, pea salad as a great "radio sight gag" -ha-
  8:03pm
sugarwolf:

Masking scents just make the yucky smell like... yucky smell mixed with strong artificial yucky in another way smell.
  8:05pm
herrump:

oh, oh, what is this "sedated" tinker bell stuff that's playing?
  8:06pm
G:

@sugarwolf: exactly. is that what they're going for? because that's what they're accomplishing, sigh
  8:07pm
david:

cooked lamb smells pretty bad...
  8:07pm
G:

monica has used this fanciful ramones cover for years, herrump...
  8:09pm
JustinMc:

The best is when I'm at the gym and there's the smell of sweat accompanied by overpowering cologne. Love it! Hey dude, you stink . . . don't make it worse with the cologne.
  8:10pm
Roberto:

So-called strawberry-flavored toothpaste often used by dentists for cleanings. Double feh.
  8:11pm
sweet cheri:

monica in my opinon the guy who invented shaving cream should've been shot right on the spot!
  8:11pm
Chris A:

I got some charcoal-scented soap at the Brooklyn Flea today. It doesn't sound good, but it does smell good, hope it does when I use it.

G, I'm late to the party, as usual :( Wow, it's fantastic! I'd love to have it to get me through the airport rigamaroo this xmas travel season.
  8:13pm
tr;sh:

I wonder when things tipped away from vinegar and baking soda as deodorizers? 60s? Mad Men?
  8:13pm
G:

I shave with soap, that keeps both the extra scent issue and the shopping issue marginally more constrained
  8:13pm
sweet cheri:

well on that note i have to split now so i'll see you again next week. but i"ll still listen,,night all!!

Monica and Doug, YES. There needs to be an FMU cologne. What a weird and wonderful idea for a marathon premium!!
  8:20pm

wow, i'm lagging bigtime here on the stream, that butter comment came about 45-60 seconds before the butter sounds :-)
  8:22pm

Will "Build Me Up Buttercup" be next?

  8:36pm
G:

I had a heart operation when I was 3 and was in the hospital for a month. They fed us mashed potatoes made from flakes or something that smelled to me like some kind of metal, not potatoes or food.

The big ol' nurse felt she had to put me over her knee to show me how important it was to eat them, but I was already marching to my own drummer. :-)

For the entire rest of my childhood, my mother had to save a few boiled potatoes aside for me when she made mashed for the other kids. I would want to gag just smelling mashed potatoes too upclose.

In my twenties I forced myself to get used to them, but junky or weird smelling mashed potatoes can still get me really grossed out...

  8:40pm

I never got my name mentioned on Romper Room or the Magic Garden :'(
  8:40pm
joe mulligan:

romper room was the kid's show where the host called out the audience kiddos
  8:40pm
Chop Scott:

Monica! The show was ROMPER ROOM--I remember getting a birthday shout out from her as a young lad. Always so love your program! Cheers!
  8:41pm
deanland:

Mrs. Yankfan says that was Romper Room in which the audience was greeted by the jovial hostess.
  8:45pm
Andrew Waterloo:

Romper Room was a rare case of a series being franchised and syndicated, so local affiliates—Wiki: Los Angeles and New York were prime examples—could produce their own versions of the show instead of airing the national telecast. For some time local shows all over the world used the same script but with local children.
  8:46pm
Andrew Waterloo:

I guess we all had our own Romper Rooms
  8:47pm
