Listener comments!

Avatar 12:02am Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

This 80's-like piece is almost intolerably perfect.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:04am Therese:

It was an early birthday present from Kurt Gottschalk!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:04am Matt from Springfield:

Therese! Great song, you're our DJ after Midnight!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:07am pacific standard simon:

I hate my radio, but I love my computer.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:08am Matt from Springfield:

The way the transmitter's been, the computer sounds like the best listening option lately!
12:08am Bob thawing out in DC:

Greetings, Therese! Hello WFMU land!
Avatar 12:09am Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Something from 1984's Electric Dreams might fit here, perhaps ELO's "Video."
Avatar 12:09am Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

At 33 OR 45.
  12:10am Mike east:

just ate a bowl of ice cream with cashews and chocolate syrup. rarely listen to the radio past midnight. great track!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:15am Matt from Springfield:

Cashews + chocolate, sounds a bit exotic!
Hi Mike and Kenzo and Bob and PSS and all Thereseketeers coming in!
Avatar 12:15am Droll:

Mike, You know the rules: bring enough to share with everyone. Can you warm the syrup up first? Thanks, I like it runny. Extra cashews, please.
Avatar 12:16am David L.B. is RRN63:

- did you just invent Nutella MikeE?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:17am Matt from Springfield:

Avatar 12:20am Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Therese is throwing today's best party ever.
  12:21am KP:

Therese, Happy New Year, just in case
Avatar 12:23am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Should I :
a.) Try & sleep thru Therese&amEdeo
b.) sleep thru some other stream like CoolJazz or Indian music
c.) let my damn computer & brain rest awlready - ??...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:24am Matt from Springfield:

@RRN63: Let your brain rest, and let everything after happen by involuntarily gesture...
Avatar 12:25am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Avatar 12:25am Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

RRN, if you could find a way to power the comments as well while you sleep as while awake, then I approve of your plan.
Avatar 12:27am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...I'll trust you to come up w/ the technical solution Dr. K...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:29am Matt from Springfield:

@Kenzo: This is why we need self-executing memory scripts, which I'm sure will happen sooner or later on the InterTubes...you can interact as a bot with comments based on your existing preferences - stay online even when you aren't!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:31am pacific standard simon:

The Hunter?
Avatar 12:31am BadGuyZero:

"Electric Dreams" is the prequel to "Her," right?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:32am Matt from Springfield:

Internet Golden Boy Kurt Gottschalk is pretty nice!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:34am Matt from Springfield:

@BGZ: It seems to be! Wasn't aware of that '84 film until you mentioned it--thought you meant Phil Oakey's "Together In Electric Dreams"--which it turns out, was made for THAT film!

Also a prequel: Kate Bush's "Deeper Understanding", from '89.
Avatar 12:34am BadGuyZero:

My goal for this year is to receive more candy canes than Glen Coco.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:35am pacific standard simon:

OMG, it's even worse than I remembered -- more hair than the entire rest of her band combined, AND leopard print outfit.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:37am Matt from Springfield:

It IS a New Year! Come out of your shell!
That computer you've had a crush on--ask IT out!
Avatar 12:38am Droll:

Crush your computer before it crushes you!
  12:42am trish:

So is '2001: A Space Odyssey' is a road trip movie? Or tragic bromance, maybe?
  12:43am trish:

Is is is is
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:45am Matt from Springfield:

Whoa, Sly & Family version of "Que Sera"!!
Avatar 12:54am Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

@Matt: I've designed that comment bot in my head many times already.
WTF is Her and why did I miss something related to Electric Dreams??
Like Kate Bush's Deeper Understanding, how about Laurie Anderson's Big Science?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:56am Matt from Springfield:

I also like Big Science, and most of Laurie's material from that timeframe.

"Her" is the Joaquin Phoenix/Scarlett Johanson film with Oscar buzz, "A man...and his AI computer..."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:58am fleep:

You get to watch Joaquin Phoenix but only hear Scarlett Johansson. Not my idea of a good time.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:00am Matt from Springfield:

@fleep: Ha! Though I'm sure when that feature is available, some people will pay big $$$ to have Scarlet as the voice of their own computer.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:04am Matt from Springfield:

GoooOOO Balkanalia!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:05am pacific standard simon:

Can I order the Therese voice option on my computer?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:09am Matt from Springfield:

"For a Mouse Pledge or above, you can download the Therese voice option, as well as..." ;)
  1:10am KP:

PSS sign me up
  1:12am KP:

I can't let you do that Dave
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:13am pacific standard simon:

OK, I gotta get up in the morning. 'Night, all.
  1:14am KP:

You know if you ask Siri about Her, you'll get some interesting remarks, if she's in mood
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:15am Matt from Springfield:

Night, PSS!
Avatar 1:19am Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Oscar buzz. OK, never mind then.
Avatar 1:20am Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Harold from Harold and Maude was the voice of the computer in Electric Dreams.
Avatar 1:22am martian land dow:

RevRabbit this show is too good to kill so I'm opting for your sleep with Threse / AmEdeo threesome option. Now don't conspire with AmEdeo, Therese to fuck with my head giving me weird dreams and stuff.
  1:22am KP:

This is awesome. Sounds like MC5
  1:24am trish:

Harold - Bud Cort
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:24am Matt from Springfield:

Oooh, new Thai psychedelia?
  1:24am KP:

I saw 2001 with full orchestra
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:25am fleep:

Dozing off late with WFMU streaming and the lights still on - easy. Then I get up, actually get ready for bed, turn the lights off -- WIDE AWAKE.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:25am Matt from Springfield:

Now H&M, that's one of the best of all time!

Wish I could see/hear Bud Cort in more things.
Avatar 1:28am Whooda:

fleep My free gimpy wifi connection usually see's to it that I don't overdose on unattended steaming action...but not always. I can HEAR you Therese!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:30am Ken From Hyde Park:

Well, the Christmas tree, along with about 12 pounds of loose, dry needles, is out of the house. Now, where are the St. Valentine's decorations at?
Avatar 1:37am BadGuyZero:

I'll cut your belly open and show you the black stuff inside.
Avatar 1:39am BadGuyZero:

I'll put the ZZs on both your cheeks, you rat bastard.
  1:39am KP:

Come on down here, the bar's on fire
Avatar 1:40am BadGuyZero:

You need to get addicted to diction.
  1:42am KP:

I called up a friend
Avatar 1:42am Whooda:

I got an offer for you Therese, I'll stay awake if you increase my diction then I'll increase your energy. (That's what I would LIKE to say but I know better than to say that.)
  1:47am brycepunk:

White Manna --fuck yeah!
  1:48am KP:

I am getting heavily edited here, and deservedly so
  1:49am KP:

No, the other Al ... Al Coholic
  1:50am brycepunk:

now... Now the wfmu-world need some It's Not Night: It's Space. Yes?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:51am Matt from Springfield:

I've been getting great returns on my white-hot solar...like manna from Heaven!
  1:53am KP:

I'm a Doors of the 20th Century fan
  1:55am KP:

21st Century
Avatar 1:56am indoor shootout:

KP I bet your still writing 2013 on your checks. Am I right?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:59am Matt from Springfield:

I think it would be cool to write 2104 on our checks. 2103, better still! :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:00am Matt from Springfield:

"amEdeo Disappeared, Feared Found"!
  2:01am Dan in Milwaukee:

I picture Therese tracking Amadeo through the station on a monitor, much like in the film "Aliens"
Avatar 2:02am ! I X Key !:

I hope no one uses any of this information for malicious startling
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:03am Matt from Springfield:

DVD parody, good premium idea, Dan! Marathon's coming! ;)
Avatar 2:03am BadGuyZero:

There is something slightly creepy about the John Allen cutout. He looks like he's been imprisoned and at the same time a bit psychotic.
Avatar 2:04am BadGuyZero:

Judy Nylon is Virginia Plain's sister.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:04am Therese:

Yes! It's because he's in a window- is he in the next room? Maybe?
Avatar 2:05am department store boat:

Do Bill Haley's eyes follow you up the stairs Therese? That could be why it scares you every time. You can never be quite sure what he's staring at.
Avatar 2:06am BadGuyZero:

It never fails...the first time I notice him when I'm up there I think he's in another room hidden behind those locker cubes.
Avatar 2:06am ! I X Key !:

Eeky squeaky!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:06am Matt from Springfield:

"You're gonna DIE around the clock...TONIGHT!!!"
Avatar 2:08am ! I X Key !:

What's harder -- making a 0 look like a really thick 1 or making a 3 look like a 4?
Avatar 2:08am BadGuyZero:

I like to imagine that he lost a bet with Ken so now he's trapped in a closet-size room spinning non-stop tunes on the Rock & Soul Ichiban stream.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:09am Therese:

That's actually closer to the truth than you might think, BGZ.
Avatar 2:12am Cantwell F. Muckenfuss III:

! I X Key ! even when it's harder it still doesn't look like a really thick 1, so I would say turning 3 into 4 is easier.
  2:13am KP:

I almost wrote a check for a parking ticket but grew alarmingly apprehensive and settled it online
Avatar 2:14am amEdeo:

May I use "amEdeo Disappeared, Feared Found" sometime, Matt?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:16am Matt from Springfield:

Just push Play...

But OFCOURSE, amEdeo! Or my original idea, "Missing, Feared Found" :)
Avatar 2:18am hack my pants:

Hey amEdeo! Would you do me a quick turn and tape some googlely eyes on that Buddy Holly poster? I'll explain later.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:19am Matt from Springfield:

Tuxedomoon! Now doing other stuff!
Avatar 2:19am ! I X Key !:

! Last time I got a parking ticket, I was parked in a perfectly good place & had gotten the ticket wrongly, so I went to court to contest it (o:
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:21am Matt from Springfield:

@I X Parking rules can be confusing, sometimes even the enforcers miss it. I however have usually gotten them by misunderstanding a rule only to realize it after the ticket appears.
  2:23am KP:

I contested one via mail and won. Sent photo of opposite parking signs. They soon made the signs agree
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:23am Matt from Springfield:

The 80s German New Wave chimney sweeps dance.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:25am Therese:

Who knew Dick van Dyke had it in him?
Avatar 2:25am novelty ashtray:

KP You nailed it! Stay away from the cops at all costs and STILL poke the MAN in the eye with his own finger.
Avatar 2:26am BadGuyZero:

That scene in "Mary Poppins" creeps me out.
  2:28am KP:

I have a pretty sweet set up in city. I can park in one place for a week. If I can't move it, it's $65 for another week
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:29am Matt from Springfield:

How DvD convinced the author of Mary Poppins to allow his synth Wave song and dance moves will be the next Oscar buzzworthy film.
Avatar 2:30am fractured headbone:

KP Wow! I recently parked in Manhattan to take a protest bus to DC I ended up paying $95. for one freakin' day in the parking garage.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:30am Matt from Springfield:

[Questionable Content Warning!]
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:32am Therese:

This is way creepier than that scene in Mary Poppins or the Bill Haley poster in the stairwell.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:34am Matt from Springfield:

In the traditional slasher movie setup, Bill Haley with the creepy eyes would come and kill Ben Mays for his immorality. After running away half-clothed, he would then kill the jailbait. Dick van Dyke as "West-Berlin-Bert" will be the lone survivor.
Avatar 2:35am Whooda:

Wow, I apologize, I'd be scared too if THIS was looking back at me in a stairwell landing!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:37am Matt from Springfield:

2nd play of the Punk 45 comp, 2nd Star! I oughta check this one out!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:38am Matt from Springfield:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:53am Matt from Springfield:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:55am Matt from Springfield:

There's many different ads for Krav Maga, but I don't know which ones if any teach the "real" KM, since so few people in the US are aware of just what that is.
Avatar 2:56am ! I X Key !:

What's that?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:57am Matt from Springfield:

Fave-Airs. Fave-Oars.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:59am Matt from Springfield:

Krav Maga?

But unlike judo/karate/tae kwon do/etc and the Asian martial arts, Americans are well acquainted with those styles and could tell whether an instructor knows the style or not. But fewer Americans are familiar enough with KM to tell if the instructor's full of it.
