Martin Mull! This Jew-boy is liking this selection of Christmas tunes. Great start, Miss Therese!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:05am Matt from Springfield:

Therese! Awesome Xmas selections!

WHAT?! How could I miss an amEdeo fill-in??! That boy needs to send out emails before he comes on! :)

Good evening Miss Therese I hope you are doing well and greetings to all up on the board.

Hiya, Therese. I wish this wasn't your final show of 2014.
  12:07am Steve-O:

Therese, hi! I hope you're doing well tonight! =)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:08am Matt from Springfield:

Get born! Keep warm! Short pants! Romance!
Learn to dance! Get dressed! Get BLESSED! Try to be a success!
  12:09am Steve-O:

@BKZ: Oh, this is her last show for the year? Aww. =(

Ah well, I'll just try to make every minute of this one as fun as possible! =)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:09am Ken From Hyde Park:

At what time do we pass out presents? I'm going do konk out pretty soon. I'll just leave them under the tree and you pick out one that looks right for you.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:10am Matt from Springfield:

Was this recorded when Susan Cowsill was married to Chris Stamey?
  12:10am Steve-O:

@Matt: Yeah, that was a bummer for me, too. I *always* enjoyed his stuff.

@Ken: Thanks, Ken. Can't believe it's almost Christmas already! =)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:11am Matt from Springfield:

Listen, the Snow Is Falling!!! This is so wonderful, and the closest thing WFMU has to a sentimental annual Christmas tradition!

Grab a candle (or lighter) and carol along! :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:13am Matt from Springfield:

@Steve-O: We'll just have to send emails to amE until he puts together a distro! ;)
  12:13am P-90:

Anyone live where it's dark enough to see the meteor shower?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:13am Matt from Springfield:

Mucho appreciado on the original vinyl + surface noise, Therese!
  12:14am JakeGould:

No, P-90. Nobody here lives in my pants. And I already showered.
  12:15am KP:

I saw a shooting star
  12:15am Steve-O:

@Matt: No snow here in NTX, but there might've been a couple of tornadoes up in Oklahoma; hopefully they didn't do too much damage, but still, that's the South Plains for ya.....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:16am Ken From Hyde Park:

Your burning log video - youtu.be...
  12:16am KP:

Over NYC. very bright
Avatar 12:17am Bad Krampus Zero:

A couple of years ago I found a Liberace Christmas record in the dollar bin of a record store in Oklahoma.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:18am Matt from Springfield:

Ah, Susan Cowsill was married to Peter Holsapple, not Chris Stamey. But their daughter is named "Miranda", not Marissa. Hmm..

@Steve-O: Stay safe from those frigid tornadoes! Don't want to have a *Flight* Christmas!

Gemenids meteor shower page with link to USTREAM camera - www.nasa.gov..., although the stream appears to be a very dark image of inky blackness.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:23am Matt from Springfield:

For all-important Cowsills family info, this page is pretty up-to-date and comprehensive:

Evidently, Marissa is Bob Cowsill's daughter, Susan's niece...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:25am Matt from Springfield:

Thanks Ken, we might as well try to watch the shower anyway!

@Jake: What a gyp! YT can show loops for 100 hours, how come they didn't loop that fan video for that long??
  12:25am P-90:

Love the vibes on this (E. Friedberger)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:25am Ken From Hyde Park:

There needs to be a 3-hour fireplace video with a fan stoking the flames. And probably some cats.
  12:27am rw:

Hey, this reminds me... my 82 year old mother's CD player broke. Is it too late to bring her into the world of mp3s? She wants something to play Xmas music on and I'm thinking she should have an iPod or something rather than another CD player.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:27am Matt from Springfield:

Woooo!!! Go Camera Obscura, for covering this Jim Reeves classic! (I'm a fan of the slowing-freezing-to-death narrative genre, y'know..)
  12:27am KP:

Christmas Obscura
  12:28am P-90:

There should be more Christmas songs with vibraphones in the arrangements
  12:28am JakeGould:

This is such a beautiful single.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:28am Matt from Springfield:

Agree, P-90! It gives an ethereal, frozen feel to it, very wintry.
  12:30am JakeGould:

rw, what kind of CD player? Like a Discman? Or a boom box? Or a component?
  12:30am JakeGould:

Froggy Horse! The most beloved horse in the stable!
  12:31am rw:

She had a 5 cd changer hooked up to a component stereo in the living room.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:32am Matt from Springfield:

"Jolly Old Soul", another great Starbucks Xmas comp -- including, Carla Thomas own "Gee Whiz, It's Christmas"!
Avatar 12:32am Bad Krampus Zero:

Let's hope raccoons don't cause any more power outages up there.
  12:34am P-90:

rw: Seniors LOVE iPods. Maybe check out Neil Young's new hi-fi iPod-style players? The sound is VERY hi-fi.
Avatar 12:34am Bad Krampus Zero:

When I was a kid I had a Snoopy vs. The Red Baron single that was released on the Peter Pan label. I don't think it was The Royal Guardsmen performing the song, but I could be wrong [and sometimes am].
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:35am Matt from Springfield:

@BGZ: It's Big Edie and Little Edie's fault - coddling the raccoons, feeding them Wonder Bread in their attic! Next thing you know they'll attack our critical infrastructure!!
Avatar 12:35am Bad Krampus Zero:

I'm just happy I made it out of Cleveland without hearing "The Little Drummer Boy" one single time.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:36am Matt from Springfield:

@BGZ: What if it was Joan Jett's "Little Drummer Boy", how do you feel about that?
Avatar 12:36am Bad Krampus Zero:

I love the cover of that compilation. Christmas trees being shot out of cannons!
Avatar 12:36am Mugsy:

And no disrespect toward Kate Bush.
  12:36am rw:

P-90, Yeah, that's what I thought. Thanks for the confirmation.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:36am Ken From Hyde Park:

I like your selections, Therese, better than the cheesy songs I hear in the stores.
  12:36am JakeGould:

rw: They still make them. Which blows my mind. Here is an Onkyo for $150 that seems good. www.amazon.com...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:37am Matt from Springfield:

Weehawkwind?! :D
  12:38am JakeGould:

Or this Sony is apparently popular and the specs are pretty cool: CD Playback : CD(CD-DA), CD-R/-RW, CD-RW/-RW Multi Session, 8cm CD , MP3 (32kpps-320kbps, VBR) www.amazon.com...
Avatar 12:38am Bad Krampus Zero:

@Matt: I think the world would be a better place if everybody stopped playing "Little Drummer Boy." Surely he needs his rest after decades of *pa rum pa pum pum*-ing.
  12:38am rw:

Therese, have you been sick? My voice has been at least an octave lower this past week. It's kind of good. Maybe you should start smoking.
Avatar 12:39am Bad Krampus Zero:

Is anybody in Weehawkwind named Frank?
  12:39am JakeGould:

My parents were mildly upset that I liked the “Little Drummer Boy” special as a kid.
  12:40am P-90:

I've been looking at this "raccoon" story. PSE&G have not said how they knew it was a raccoon. Did they go to the substation, open the door, and a raccoon ran out? Do they have it on video? Methinks this raccoon was merely a media-friendly PR invention, a furry little diversion from the question of human error...
  12:41am rw:

Thx JG!
  12:41am JakeGould:

Trigger warning: According to the Jersey City mayor, it was indeed a raccoon. Cannot unsee this. pic.twitter.com...
Avatar 12:42am Eyepatch Fox (AKA Mister Vixen):

Thank you for the awesome music! I'm Christmas decorating!!! :D
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:42am Ike:

That suggests to me that Mayor Fulop is NOT counting on the support of any animal-rights organizations in the future... I wonder if he has a PR person who is mad that he sent out that grodey tweet. Myself, I like a pol w/a sick and twisted sense of humor -- if only he would stop fracking w/Friends of the Loews.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:43am Ken From Hyde Park:

Ken, Kim Kardashian broke the Internet with her massive ass so hey.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:45am sugarwolf:

I hope it wasn't Lame Pun Raccoon who perished.
  12:46am JakeGould:

Thank you for introducing me to lame pun raccoon, Sugarwolf! knowyourmeme.com...
  12:46am P-90:

It looks like they got their hands on a raccoon that was killed in a trap and posed it in front of something power-y looking. Smells more like a cover-up than ever. What part of a power grid is that vulnerable to a small mammal, and rips the animal open like that in the process of causing a blackout?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:47am Ken From Hyde Park:

@Jake - Lovely...can someone tell her to get out of the way of the meteor cam?
  12:48am JakeGould:

Who is in the way of the meteor cam?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:53am Matt from Springfield:

What a WFMU Supergroup! Glad those guys got together for our War on Christmas fundraiser!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:54am Ken From Hyde Park:

Kim Kardashian's big butt is blocking the meteor cam. And probably Professor Hubert Farnsworth's smelloscope, too.

So over the Kardashians. And I don’t even watch the teevee!
Avatar 12:56am Bad Krampus Zero:

Did anyone dance like Elaine Benes?
  12:56am P-90:

Raccoon: NOT a rodent.
I'm not saying I'm SURE it wasn't a raccoon, just pointing out that it MIGHT have been been an easy scapegoat, a way to head off an inquiry by officials, and bad press...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:56am joeray:

I am going to shamelessly mention that I've got two kittens left that need homes, and they are awesome and adorable and smooshable, and you can learn more about them in the blog post:

Lady Lobo and Mot the Smoosh are taken, but Petal and Stockwell are as of yet unclaimed. I've had some inquiries for Petal, but I'd prefer she and Stockwell to find a home together like the other two.

Wait, I may be slow, but is Fountains of Wayne in Wayne, NJ?
  2:11am JakeGould:

One of the most saddest Christmas things I have ever seen/heard…
Avatar 2:17am Bad Krampus Zero:

When I lived in Seattle one of the local movie theaters showed a double-feature of "It's A Wonderful Life" and "Holiday Affair" [with Robert Mitchum!] on Christmas. That was my Christmas tradition. One Christmas I also went to the Varsity Theater to see the new Gamera movie.

One Christmas the Young Fresh Fellows put together a two-night showcase at The Crocodile called "An Evenings In Edenbrook Forest." One of the Fellows had bought a set of godawful plastic medieval knight costumes at a thrift store and they needed an excuse to wear them during a show. That was the impetus for the showcase.
  2:18am JakeGould:

Okay, that was a downer. How about the time 10 years ago when I saw a very realistic Santa with a roll of bills in Rockefeller Center almost getting into a fight with a parent?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:18am Matt from Springfield:

@BGZ: That's a lovely tradition!
And LOL @ the YFFs!
  2:19am JakeGould:

BGZ, those are great memories!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:20am Matt from Springfield:

@Jake: Shit, that's a downer...so much so that it would probably bring a smile to Andy Breckman!!
Avatar 2:20am Bad Krampus Zero:

You can always count on Seattle's musicians to come up with top-notch shenanigans.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:23am Matt from Springfield:

Don't fall into the "named show" trap, Therese!!
Some shows are good just as the host! Gaylord Fields, Irwin, Irene Trudel, Scott Williams, Brian Turner, etc.
Avatar 2:24am Bad Krampus Zero:

Saint Therese's Sacred Songs
  2:25am JakeGould:

Seriously, as a Jew-boy raised in Brooklyn my memories were just tons—and I mean TONS—of buildings filled with those electric Menorahs that have the orange light on them. I mean that’s my Hanukkah Harry memory right there.
  2:25am JakeGould:

“Working Tomorrow, Up Now” with Therese
  2:25am P-90:

I thought "Therese" was a good name. Are there any good nominations yet? That convey the spirit/style/vibe of the kind(s) of name you're looking for?
Avatar 2:26am Bad Krampus Zero:

"This Week's Model"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:26am Matt from Springfield:

And here's Chris Stamey! (Type of the devil...with friends, Peter Holsapple is almost certainly one of those friends! As a dB maybe that's implied even..)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:27am Matt from Springfield:

Following California's recall procedure, I vote "No" on changing the show name, but if it is changed, I vote in the 2nd question for: "Nothing Succeeds Like Therese".
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:28am Matt from Springfield:

Oh boy, National Lampoon and their shenanigans!! ;)
  2:29am P-90:

This REALLY takes me back...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:30am Matt from Springfield:

This captures the general Spirit of '74 quite well!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:32am Matt from Springfield:

Generous HTs to the Sound of Philly soul.
Avatar 2:33am northguineahills:

Damn, I was flossing my teeth, and missed the mic break, I'd go w/ Jake's suggestion.
  2:34am rw:

I want a Kung Fu Christmas too. How about Therese's Kung Fu Christmas with your host Therese?
  2:35am rw:

Okay that was stupid. I'd like to retract.
  2:35am JakeGould:

Another idea on the same theme, “Therese’s Morning Night.”
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:35am Matt from Springfield:

I could second BGZ's choice if it was phrased
"This Week's Model, with Therese".
Avatar 2:36am Bad Krampus Zero:

"What's Your Damage?"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:36am Matt from Springfield:

WHOA! "Cristina" (Monet). That was apparently not ALL THERE IS!! :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:40am Matt from Springfield:

"A Toast to Christmas in the 80's with Singing Glasses" - NICE!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:42am Matt from Springfield:

YAY!!!! Elton!
My Mom's an "Old Eltonian" - having first seen him live over 44 years ago...

Disco Deutsch Stille Nacht! Ausgezeichnet!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:46am Matt from Springfield:

Wow, it's Klaus! Called it BGZ! :)
  2:48am P-90:

"Nightlight with Therese"
"Way Past Bedtime with Therese"
"Weekend's End with Therese"
REALLY: What's wrong with "Therese"? The show doesn't have a "theme", which is really what a cute title communicates.
The identity of the show is your tastes and personality, like Gaylord's and Irene's and Irwin's shows; and those are some of the classiest shows, like this one. Sorry, but "Therese" is the classiest name you could have, and maybe the best. just sayin'
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:50am Matt from Springfield:

Hear hear P-90!
Like you my first choice is the current one: "Therese".
  2:51am JakeGould:

“A Nightcap with Therese”
Avatar 2:52am Bad Krampus Zero:

[I hope Therese has the Star Wars Christmas record nearby]
  2:52am rw:

There's a Star Wars Christmas record?
  2:53am JakeGould:

“Irish Exit with Therese” Also, please no Star Wars. Only real stuff. A Gloria Parker is amazing!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:54am Matt from Springfield:

@Jake 2:51: Another good nom for my second choice.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:54am Matt from Springfield:

The last set - COMPLETELY Clicky-Starred!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:55am Matt from Springfield:

Christopher Guest - I was wondering if he was on that Lampoon music track :)
Avatar 2:56am Bad Krampus Zero:

@rw: There is! And it has Jon Bon Jovi on it!
  2:56am JakeGould:

“Tucked in with Therese”
  2:57am Steve-O:

Hi Therese! As for show names, how about, "Therese, Actually!"?(it's based on your Twitter hashtag)
Avatar 2:57am Bad Krampus Zero:

"Stay Tuned with Therese"
  2:57am rw:

Bye Therese! Have a Jolly Holiday! See (hear) you next year!!
  2:57am Steve-O:

@Jake: I like that, too. =)
  2:58am P-90:

You could call it "Stan", but that name's taken.
"The Glow in the Dark" or "Glow in the Dark Music"
or "The Glow in the Dark Radio Program with Therese"
"Redeye Radio"
I'll keep it in mind, @Therese. Have a FAB holiday!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:59am Matt from Springfield:

I think I wish you a Merry Christmas, Therese!! :)

Thanks for a wonderful Xmas show, really got me in the holiday mood! Have a good vacation and see you again in the New Year!

Have a good night everyone!
  3:00am Steve-O:

Well, anyway, it's been a wonderful 'nother year with you.....'bye Therese, we'll miss you, and have a wonderful and safe Christmas and New Year's! =D
Avatar 3:00am Bad Krampus Zero:

Thanks for the three hours of holiday tunes, Therese! Have a fantastic Christmas. See you back here in 2015.
  3:00am P-90:

"In-song-nia... nah
  3:00am JakeGould:

I would say, “Actually Therese” should be the show name.
