Therese and Pat! Loyal listeners! LET'S DO THIS!!
Avatar 12:12am BadGuyZero:

Liquid Liquid opened for LCD Soundsystem at the Terminal 5 show I was at a few years ago.

Pledge for Jub Jub!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:13am @sugarwolf@:

I had a coworker ask what jury duty is, so I think remedial civics is needed!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:14am @sugarwolf@:

I took the practice citizenship test, and I think I did ok??
Avatar 12:15am djsheilab:

This is an excellent show for me! Just about to file my citizenship application.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:16am @sugarwolf@:

Good luck, djsheilab!
Avatar 12:16am MattBelow:

Pledge for Sheila's citizenship test!
Avatar 12:18am djsheilab:

Thank you @sugarwolf! Yes @MattBelow pledge in the name of Therese and the resident aliens of WFMU.
Avatar 12:19am BadGuyZero:

@djsheilab: I highly recommend going on YouTube and watching as many Schoolhouse Rock videos as possible. As a youngster I learned lots of things from those animated educational segments. You might even get lucky and find videos someone uploaded from the VHS tapes released in the 80s that feature Cloris Leachman rapping between Schoolhouse Rock shorts.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:19am Matt from Springfield:

Lou Reed-esque!
Avatar 12:20am BadGuyZero:

I do believe that this Pavement song first appeared on a Schoolhouse Rock tribute CD.
Avatar 12:21am MattBelow:

@BadGuyZero: Worth it just to see Cloris throwdown a freestyle!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:21am @sugarwolf@:

I just took a practice civics test and 100%!! I am either a good citizen or a nerd. Or both!
Avatar 12:26am BadGuyZero:

I bought an Overlake record while they were playing on Therese's show.
Avatar 12:27am BadGuyZero:

Therese helps bands sell their records!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:34am Matt from Springfield:

What an episode to miss!
I already intended to catch up on that but HWWOW! What a surprise! No spoilers! :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:38am Matt from Springfield:

Between 1707 and 1783, US and Scotland were both in the British Empire at the same time.

(United Kingdom of Great Britain at that time, Ireland was still an outright possession of the Crown in the Empire then).
Avatar 12:40am BadGuyZero:

There was a tribute album to 1960s-to-1970s cartoon theme songs that came out around the same time as that Schoolhouse Rock tribute record.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:40am Matt from Springfield:

Irish independence, 1921!
Always *thrilled* to educate, thank you! :)
  12:43am tomasz.:

I'm glad at least someone on this comment board knows UK history. no idea what i actually learned in school
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:43am @sugarwolf@:

@BGZ: oh, I remember that one... It had Juliana Hatfield & Tanya Donelly doing the Josie and the Pussycats theme...
  12:44am tomasz.:

ah Tanya *heart eyes emoji*
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:45am Matt from Springfield:

@BGZ/sugarwolf/tomasz: Sounds like an amazing song! (And comp!)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:47am @sugarwolf@:

it was very 90s.... I cant remember if I actually owned it or if it was just at my college's radio station....
Avatar 12:48am BadGuyZero:

@sugarwolf: That's the one!

@Matt: Here's a link with a list of the theme songs and who performed 'em.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:51am @sugarwolf@:

oh Mary Lou Lord, she was one of the first concerts I ever saw. And it was at Maxwell's... we thought it was soooooooo far away from the train station.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:51am Matt from Springfield:

Avatar 1:05am listener mark:

Hey, just saying hey
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:05am Matt from Springfield:

I haven't heard it until now, but I want to see it - the concept alone is incredible!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:06am Matt from Springfield:

You can't establish a Navy without congressional approval - no votes, no boats...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:07am @sugarwolf@:

I love your showtune love, Therese!!
Avatar 1:08am BadGuyZero:

That song Pat was singing is from The Chipmunks' new album, "Alvinton."
  1:09am tullius:

Awesome political radio, folks.. And those three words are so rarely accurately uttered in sequence.
Avatar 1:10am BadGuyZero:

I could see the Statue of Liberty from the Jersey City hospital I was in last year.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:10am @sugarwolf@:

I went to The Statue of Liberty & Ellis Island for the first time this summer.
1:13am Bob in DC and/or Virginia:

Politics and geography ... this may be the best episode of Therese's show ever.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:13am Ike:

Generally, musical theater is silly. That was "musical theater" in the same way that a gold-plated flying time-traveling Lamborghini is a "car". In other words, I like!
Avatar 1:14am MattBelow:

Ringy-dingy! More phones need a jingle-jangle!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:14am Caryn:

I'd heard another track from Hamilton, and I thought it was weak rapping and weak Broadway musical material: basically the lowest common denominator combo of both. Did not get all the hoopla at all. This was, however, considerably better. If most of Hamilton is like this, not like the other bit I've heard, then fine, hoopla accepted.
  1:15am PJ:

Per Wikipedia (take that as you may), Liberty Island is part of New York (though it is wholly owned by the federal gov't).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:19am Gaylord Fields:

Conversely, the 90% of Ellis Island that is landfill belongs to New Jersey. That leaves most of the main building as part of New York.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:20am Matt from Springfield:

The C.H.U.D. Foundation underwriting!!!
  1:21am tomasz.:

re: Hamilton, i can vouch that at least one of the guys in that is a bona-fide amazing rapper. i forget which part he plays, but it's Daveed Diggs of the superb noise-rap trio clipping.
Avatar 1:23am MattBelow:

Turnin' up the heat!
Avatar 1:24am BadGuyZero:

C.H.U.D.pionship Wrestling!
Avatar 1:25am BadGuyZero:

Canine Home Protection System
  1:25am MONEYBAG$:

was the full co-host schedule ever posted anywhere?
Avatar 1:26am BadGuyZero:

@Moneybags: I don't believe so. If it was I haven't stumbled upon it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:26am Gaylord Fields:

@MONEYBAGS: It's posted publicly only on day of show, not in advance.
  1:27am Sir Richard Slouch:

Not only have I seen CHOMPS, I read the friggin' book.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:27am Caryn:

@BGZ: if that is the genuine source of the acronym "CHOMPS", that is some weak-ass writing. 3 letters from one 4-letter word? Come on!
Avatar 1:28am BadGuyZero:

I'm pretty sure that's what it is. My brother and I begged our parents to take us to see it and they wouldn't because it was rated PG. I've never seen it. Probably a good thing in the grand scheme.
Avatar 1:29am BadGuyZero:

I just checked Wikipedia: "C.H.O.M.P.S. is an acronym for 'Canine HOMe Protection System.'"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:29am Matt from Springfield:

"Take it from us - we love you" -- "Mr. Show" REFERENCE?!?!

"Take it from me - Iiiii LOVE you!"
Avatar 1:30am BadGuyZero:

Terre T. always played that when people made pledges over a certain dollar amount.
Avatar 1:30am Pat Byrne:

PIT P-A-A-A-T
  1:31am MONEYBAG$:

Tower in Cambridge is now a travel agency(?)
Avatar 1:35am MattBelow:

Boyce & Hart rock the vote!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:35am Caryn:

Thanks, BGZ. But seriously, they couldn't think of words for O and M? Canine Home & Occupant Mobile Protection System or something?
  1:36am Jeff Conklin:

How much do I need to donate to have someone let me in? ;)
Avatar 1:37am MattBelow:

Locked out Jeff?
Avatar 1:37am Pat Byrne:

GOAL IS SET!!! KEEP PLEDGING PEOPLE!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:37am Therese:

Matt is on the way, Jeff!
Avatar 1:37am Pat Byrne:

@Jeff $75 or more
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:39am Gaylord Fields:

They originally had Canine Home Invasion Management & Protection System, which was scuttled for obvious reasons.
Avatar 1:39am BadGuyZero:

@Caryn: Where were you in 1979 when they were making that movie?? *HA!*
  1:40am tullius:

LOL!

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:18am Caryn:

Michael Dorsey
Avatar 2:18am BadGuyZero:

Is it the DVD or blu ray?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:19am Therese:

DVD!
Avatar 2:20am Danne D:

that's a pretty good Dave Hill, Pat :)
Avatar 2:23am BadGuyZero:

I used to have the Criterion "Tootsie" on laserdisc.
Avatar 2:25am BadGuyZero:

I still have the Criterion laserdisc of "Close Encounters Of The Third Kind" which stars [drum roll]

Richard Dreyfuss.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:25am Caryn:

I love that originally in Jaws, Dreyfus's character had an affair with the sheriff's wife. But Spielberg decided to cut that plot line, because it would've made Dreyfus too unlikeable.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:26am Caryn:

@BGZ: and Teri Garr from Tootsie as his wife!
Avatar 2:26am MattBelow:

I think we can make the goal if Pat does his teenage voice the rest of the show
Avatar 2:27am BadGuyZero:

I liked the Saturday Night Live bit about Star Wars auditions. Richard Dreyfuss tries out for the role of C-3PO.
Avatar 2:27am BadGuyZero:

@Caryn: That is true!

I saw Teri Garr on an episode of "McCloud" last night.
Avatar 2:28am Pat Byrne:

That's where I based my impression... Darrell Hammond at his best!
Avatar 2:34am BadGuyZero:

Kevin Spacey did a tremendous Christopher Walken auditioning for Han Solo.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:38am Caryn:

Heh, that ad started out making a point, and then the ending went a little lukewarm. "Voting: It might be worth your time."
  2:38am Santos L Halper:

I wonder who Alice is voting for?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:40am Caryn:

Alice is famously quite conservative with some of his voting choices, but I want to believe he considers the current GOP crop a bunch of loons.
Avatar 2:41am BadGuyZero:

Billion dollar scabies
Avatar 2:53am Danne D:

So if Therese doesn't get this last 16% does Pat have to eat another chocolate bunny?
Avatar 2:53am BadGuyZero:

Jeff should give you bonus time since you let him in the building.
Avatar 2:57am Danne D:

I gotta pass out :) But great show and great job guys :) Please keep pledging everyone :D
Avatar 3:02am Pat Byrne:

THANKS FOLKS!!!
  3:02am Steve-O:

Congrats to Oliver in California! =)

And thanks for all the great tunes, y'all! And I hope you all have a wonderful week. =D
