One of my favorite concerts was the tour for the sporting life album.

I feel glad to live in a world where Diamanda Galas and John Paul Jones of Led Zeppelin put out a record together.

Diamanda Galas did a version of "Gloomy Sunday" AKA "The Hungarian Suicide Song"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:34pm
Dan Bodah:

@Marc, why is it known as the Hungarian Suicide Song?

Ike:

I have listened to, and enjoyed, many ear-shattering and "difficult" sounds on WFMU. Bowling balls being rolled down staircases? Yes please! Blender full of marbles? Love it! But an hour of D. Galás? EEK! When I hear her, I start to believe there is a Hell. (That's sort of a compliment.) But I admire alla youse who can get into this. You're on a higher level than me. Peace out!

Rich in Washington:

The composer was Hungarian. Supposedly, lots of people committed suicide after hearing it. An old urban legend.

@Ike: Go punch a goat! (But not in Brooklyn or Jersey City)

I had some prejudices overturned tonight. Thanks Dan.
