ooh, some serious tuvan-y stuff here.
Avatar 7:03pm slugluv1313:

good evening, Dan and everyone!
that Russian soldier's piece is BEAUTIFUL!
Avatar 7:03pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Tibet - Himalayas - top of the world. Sounds like this.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:04pm Ken From Hyde Park:

When I sing along to the hymns in church, I do it in throat singing style now. No one has noticed yet, aside from my kids.
Avatar 7:05pm Dan Bodah:

Good evening all! The Russian soldier appears in a short cell phone video strumming & singing that song in uniform (with a patch indicating he's in Russia's Arctic division). He's surrounded by other soldiers who are all paying rapt attention. Unfortunately, the video cuts off before he's done. Despite the mistakes, the song is incredible -- never heard another like it.

@DanBodah: YoutUbe link for that track anywhere?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:16pm Ken From Hyde Park:

@Jake - Check out vocalfrier.tumblr.com and you should see it.

Yup, here it is. www.youtube.com...

Love how raw and chaotic this recording of Ensemble Elesa is -- most of the releases of this song tame it down quite a bit.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:26pm chris:

Hi, Dan, might i recommend this show serve home-distilled booze? i think it would go quite nicely.
Avatar 7:27pm Dan Bodah:

Haha - there's an idea for a reward for supporters during the marathon -- a *full* flask

according to the interweb, Siberia covers 5.1 million square miles while the US of A covers 3.79 million sq miles.
Avatar 7:35pm Dan Bodah:

Michael 98145, gratz! You're hired if you want an (unpaid) Vocal Fry research internship. @kat -- hello!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:36pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Will Vocal Fry appear on the new schedule or will it be banished to Siberia?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:36pm Michael 98145:

proud to assist the WFU Accu-Mind
Avatar 7:37pm Dan Bodah:

The plan is to be on the new schedule...

Do or DIY/Vocal Fry has been a match made in heaven, too bad Vicki's not returning in the new season.
Avatar 7:38pm Dan Bodah:

"The cuisine of Sakha consists predominantly of the traditional drink kumis, dairy products of mare and reindeer milk, sliced frozen salted fish stroganina (строганина), loaf meat dishes (oyogos), venison, frozen fish, thick pancakes, and salamat - a millet porridge with butter and horse fat. Kuerchekh [Куэрчэх] or kierchekh, a popular dessert, is made of mare milk or sour cream with various berries. Indigirka is a traditional fish salad. This cuisine is only used in Yakutia." -- Wikipedia. MMMMMMM KIERCHEKH FTW

Vegans probably have to eat pickled watermelon and cabbage. Ian Frazier, about traveling in Siberia (The New Yorker): "Soon after Bikin, we suddenly entered a weird all-watermelon area. Watermelon sellers crowded both sides of the road under big umbrellas in beach-ball colors among wildly painted wooden signs. Sergei pulled over and bought a watermelon for a ruble, but as we went along the heaps of them kept growing until melons were spilling into the road and the sellers were giving them away. A man with teeth like a crazy fence hailed us and in high hilarity thrust two watermelons through the passenger-side window. By the time we emerged at the other end of the watermelon gauntlet, we had a dozen or more in the van. The watermelons were almost spherical, antifreeze green, and slightly smaller than soccer balls. We cut one open and tried it—delicious. This was not a part of the world I had previously thought of as a great place for watermelons."
Avatar 7:59pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...Hasil loved his 'melon, I have it on good authority...
Avatar 8:01pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

That were a good one, DJ DB.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:04pm chris:

Avatar 8:07pm slugluv1313:
