And how was your first American Thanksgiving experience?

Excellent. Just the way JD and I like it: by ourselves

Well, Lake Erie does have three hundred miles of beaches......

Nice, dinner for 8 food for 20 sounds familiar!! JD & Dan sounds cozy!! We had a good one, 5 people, food for about 10!! So nice to spend it with friends & not at Misa's work for once!!

Fine feast last week. Always a weird food day with timing and pacing with snacks and the day's other meals....or meal-ish moments.
In today's food encounters, I just et a brisket sandwich at a BBQ joint. And my systems of consumption, awareness and outcomes are long past the age where I can eat such a big heavy , sloppy, meaty thing and not say, "Ohhhh, I don't knowwww about this..."

sounds like the 'itis, post bbq coma

Avatar 10:19pm

Avatar 10:20pm

Should have said specifically ohio; i was responding to that. Sorry!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:22pm
Little Danny:

@Kris: I feel like I've asked you before but is surfing a thing in NZ?
Avatar 10:23pm
Scraps:

It’s funny, but I got into a defensive conversation with a ohioian who said you can surf, when I laughed it off, twenty years ago
Avatar 10:23pm
Kris Holmes:

Surfing is huge in NZ
Avatar 10:25pm
glenn:

one of these years i'm going to take the ferry from pelee island to sandusky, ohio.

Remembering when Erie was often joked about for its massive pollution, at Thanksgiving I asked my sister who lives with her family near the lake if there were opportunities for clean shore outings. She was boastful about the beaches and pleasant natural spots.
Avatar 10:26pm

Burn on, big river, burn on
Avatar 10:27pm
glenn:

i don't know about the south shore, but there are many lovely beach areas on the north shore.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:29pm
Little Danny:

@Kris: hereby requesting some NZ surf music then. Tho' all I can think of at the moment is some 45 by the Surfires. There must be others, right?

This JT is great. You know Steve Mancha's (earlier) version of "Friday Night," Kris?
Avatar 10:36pm
Kris Holmes:

yes, also great, big Steve Mancha fan here
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:37pm
Little Danny:

Of course you are. Wonder how that found its way into JT's hands
Avatar 10:40pm
Kris Holmes:

Don Davis, was a producer from Detroit that worked with Mancha at Groovesville. He moved to Memphis to work at Stax & brought a bunch of Detroit songs & acts (Dramatics, JJ Barnes etc) with him.

Kris Holmes:

so there is the direct link
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:40pm
Little Danny:

Nice! Thanks for the info. That's pretty cool
Avatar 10:42pm

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:43pm
Little Danny:

Man the Moments are underrated
Avatar 10:45pm
Kris Holmes:

i'm back on a bit of a Moments kick at the moment, so great. I love the tracks where they get a bit of tempo & have a bit more rawness to the production. Sometimes they're too slick & syrupy but this stuff is great

Been here doing bills and cleaning.

Lore:

Kris: Does Curley Mays still play around San Antonio? I recently turned up a newspaper ad from '58 where he's on a bill with Classie Ballou, Lowell Fulson, & Floyd Nixon (sic? Dixon?). Mays is the only one who gets a description: "Picks Guitar with Nose, Teeth, and Feet." Fairly recent Youtube clips suggest he could still be a fun night out.
