I play music that is old and that is new. Some of it is digital while some is analog. It is from many different countries; sometimes it is loud and at other times it is quiet.

Good afternoon Mayuko and listeners
Avatar 12:02pm Mayuko:

Good afternoon, fred!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:02pm Scraps:

h'lo hey
Avatar 12:03pm fred:

Welcome Scraps!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:03pm listener james from westwood:

Afternoon, Mayuko and all!
Avatar 12:05pm Mayuko:

My radio family Scraps! How are you? Welcome on board, james!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:06pm Scraps:

i'm going to listen (as usual lately) lying down (because pain). Cheers, ever'body. Cheers my radio family Mayuko!
  12:07pm rbrt:

hi hi
  12:08pm rbrt:

what is this sad doggy puppet from ?!?!
Avatar 12:08pm Sem:

Hello, Mayuko, the Vertiginous, those who identify as horizontalist, the passers-by.
  12:09pm rbrt:

horizontalist lol
Avatar 12:13pm Mayuko:

Hi rbrt! I actually do not know where this Mr.Doggy is from, but if my understanding is correct this is an accurate illustration of a person in a liminal space in the modern age.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:14pm listener james from westwood:

Home studio for the win. Another good day not to have to run across Exchange Place with frigid Hudson River winds worsening an already chill day. (Says the guy who went up to Nyack, NY, for coffee and doughnuts just after dawn.)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:15pm coelacanth∅:

olá Mayuko e Mayuklings
  12:19pm rbrt:

I feel like I know him from somewhere, I just want to give him treats
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:20pm paul b:

I put "Mr. Doggy" into Google reverse image search.
Google thinks It is actor Ben Stiller. Technology, it will save us!
  12:21pm rbrt:

paul haha
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:22pm listener james from westwood:

Oh, I dig this Creshevsky!
  12:22pm rbrt:

I totally did the same thing, lol
Avatar 12:22pm Mayuko:

Good afternoon, Sem! Horizontalists somehow sounds to me like a serious identity, with a level tool in their hands policing artwork installed on people's walls, checking if they're absolutely leveled etc....
  12:22pm rbrt:

I knew i recognized him! It's "hush puppy" from lamb chop!!!
Avatar 12:22pm Mayuko:

Hallos coelacanth∅!
  12:23pm rbrt:

  12:23pm Rickwaukee:

@paul b: When I saw doggy in Mayuko's tweet earlier, who came to mind is actor David Paymer
  12:24pm rbrt:

ok I can stop obsessing over the doggy puppet now lol
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:24pm coelacanth∅:

whatever you do don't image-search "lamb chop" without the word "puppet", unless you like to see animal flesh.
Avatar 12:25pm Mayuko:

@paul b That's so funny!! Maybe the eyebrows did that?
  12:25pm Rickwaukee:

I would usually dock points for using the ubiquitous baby sample, but it's working for me here.
  12:25pm rbrt:

"Hush Puppy is happiest when there is a good mystery to solve and loves to play any kind of music, as long as it's fast" :)))))
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:26pm coelacanth∅:

i've used this same baby sound sample in a piece - as did Prince.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:26pm listener james from westwood:

Breakbeats and broken bones FTW!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:27pm coelacanth∅:

yeah i think i heard it in a tv ad once too
  12:28pm Rickwaukee:

Almost as done as: eagle screech
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:29pm coelacanth∅:

in my defense, when i used it i'd never heard it anywhere except as a ring tone my phone supplied. (the piece utilizes most of the ring tones from that phone)
  12:30pm Rickwaukee:

Can't decide if that's Ace Ventura or Austen Powers fight noises
Avatar 12:30pm Mayuko:

ah, thank you for identifying the dog, rbrt! Hola Rickwaukee!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:30pm paul b:

Eyebrows yes and ears too possibly -- no one communicate this to Mr. Stiller.

rbrt noted Mr. Doggie is actually a Shari Lewis Puppet. I would add as a fun-fact that she co-wrote the Star Trek episode Lights of Zetar
  12:31pm Rickwaukee:

Hola, Big M!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:32pm coelacanth∅:

  12:33pm Rickwaukee:

I sorta had a thing for Shari Lewis when I was a lad
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:35pm Ken From Hyde Park:

It's a three-pronged attack: subliminal, liminal and superliminal.
  12:36pm rbrt:

★ this Elipse album
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:36pm coelacanth∅:

damn -Shari Lewid died pretty young.
Avatar 12:39pm fred:

I guess I had a good week: I got my october swag today, and I think I found a good cobbler (my trusted former one closed shop last year)
Avatar 12:40pm Sem:

A cowboy boot cobbler, I hope, @fred.
  12:41pm rbrt:

like shoe cobbler or fruit dish dessert?
Avatar 12:41pm Mayuko:

Welcome on board, Ken!!
Avatar 12:42pm fred:

@Sem: of course
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:44pm coelacanth∅:

an old cobbler in scotch plains,nj c.1995 replaced the heels on some black suede boots with softer heels for, i believe, around 12 bucks. that wont happen again.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:48pm coelacanth∅:

i finally found a cobbler within 30 miles to me that gets only good reviews, but my boots would cost at least $90. to re-sole,and i only need one of them done, so i bought new vibram soles. i haven't done it yet. it's a big job because they'll have to be trimmed on all sides.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:50pm redkayak:

Hello everyone :)
  12:51pm rbrt:

hiya redkayak
Avatar 12:52pm Sem:

fred, I'm on a bit of a Denis Johnson jag these days. Who are you reading lately?

Hello, redkayak.
  12:54pm rbrt:

♡ puppet band!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:56pm mauri:

ma ma ma yu ko~
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:57pm listener james from westwood:

There's another great Creshevsky track that gets occasional airplay on FMU, always a treat, IIRC "Great Performances."
Avatar 12:58pm fred:

@Sem: Sadly, I've been re-reading mostly lately. Also, I subscribed to The Baffler and n+1, and these magazines are like small books
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:58pm redkayak:

Hey @rbrt, @Sem :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:58pm redkayak:

@fred the Baffler is awesome
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:59pm Mark Hurst:

Yes, hope to see everyone at the Road Movie next Saturday at Monty Hall!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:59pm Mark Hurst:

Here's the signup: montyhall.ticketfly.com...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:00pm Ken From Hyde Park:

I got a ticket for the Ride movie. Looking forward to that, for sure! Should I bring cookies or something?
Avatar 1:01pm Dave B:

Hiya Mayuko!
  1:01pm Rickwaukee:

Let us know if you see your shadow when you leave your home, Mayuko. Har
Avatar 1:02pm Sem:

I started reading The Awl, after seeing you mention it. Though it has discontinued operations, it's good to see the archives will remain up, liked what I found there.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:02pm coelacanth∅:

don't sweat the anxiety,Mayuko - just imagine everyone as puppets
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:03pm Mark Hurst:

See you there, Ken. Not sure what the proper snack is while watching dashcam footage..
Avatar 1:03pm fred:

@redkayak: I got a tote bag from them and it was big enough to hold my boots for my aforementioned trip to a cobbler's shop. Cowboy boots in a Baffler tote, that might be unusual
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:04pm listener james from westwood:

@Mark: Something crunchy, to act as counterpoint to the crumpling hoods and exploding taillights.
  1:04pm Rickwaukee:

@coelacantO: that is an excellent idea - I like Mayuklings too
Avatar 1:07pm fred:

@Sem: The station's own Jim the poet had a column there. Catapult might be worth checking out too. It's a mixed bag, but there are a few gems
Avatar 1:10pm Sem:

Thank you, fred.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:12pm redkayak:

@fred The Baffler is indeed like a book - each issue. Very good writing though....
Avatar 1:12pm Mayuko:

Hi redkayak, mauri, thanks for tuning in!!
james, Great Performances is a funny one, think I played it too if I remember correctly?! Should play it again even if I did!
Avatar 1:13pm Mayuko:

Aw! Thank you for the link & listening, Mark!
Avatar 1:14pm Mayuko:

Dave B! How you been?!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:16pm Webhamster Henry:

Happy Setsubun, Mayuko!
Avatar 1:16pm Dave B:

Doing well, thanks you! Was thinking about you and D recently... we need to get together one day soon!
Avatar 1:17pm Dave B:

(p.s. I'm cooking up a batch of Golden Curry)
Avatar 1:17pm Mayuko:

@coelacanth∅ Everyone being puppets sounds even more horrific!!! On the internet people already often appear like a bunch of just programmed bots sometimes!!!!!!!!!
  1:19pm Barnaby:

This sounds really great!
  1:19pm Rickwaukee:

Wow, I was either swimming with whales or on a date with a replicant
  1:19pm rbrt:

this is beautiful
  1:20pm rbrt:

Primo quadro that is
Avatar 1:21pm Mayuko:

Setsubun! Spring is coming! On the calendar, anyway!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:21pm melinda:

Avatar 1:22pm Mayuko:

Glad you dig, Barnaby, thanks for tuning in! Hi melinda! Glad to have you here!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:23pm redkayak:

Hi @Mayuko. Nice selections today!
Avatar 1:27pm Dave B:

Now THIS is nice....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:28pm Ken From Hyde Park:

I liked that pinano piece.
Avatar 1:31pm fred:

The late forties must have been weird and challenging times in Japan
Avatar 1:36pm Mayuko:

@fred yeah, I can only imagine but it must have been the toughest time in its history.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:39pm melinda:

Cool sounds.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:49pm coelacanth∅:

Mayuko @1.17 it does sound terrifying...unless it amounts to just not taking any of it seriously.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:50pm coelacanth∅:

hi melinda
Avatar 1:50pm fred:

That Hikashu track was nice. Is that the same band that was somehow associated with Otomo Yoshihide?
  1:52pm Rickwaukee:

Trigger Happiness - LOVE that title!!
Avatar 1:52pm Mayuko:

@fred yah, I think Otomo Yoshihide participated an album of theirs or something like that.
Avatar 1:52pm Mayuko:

@Rickwaukee me too!
  1:53pm rbrt:

I love this quirky Littile P
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:58pm listener james from westwood:

That's H. P. Lovecraft!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:59pm listener james from westwood:

Whoops, didn't mean to Lovecraftsplain!
  2:00pm Rickwaukee:

Yay - your future is not knowing where the bathroom is! Very accurate
Avatar 2:01pm Sem:

Thanks, Mayuko! Been fun, fun, fun. See ya next time.
Avatar 2:01pm fred:

Thanks Mayuko!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:01pm listener james from westwood:
