I play music that is old and that is new. Some of it is digital while some is analog. It is from many different countries; sometimes it is loud and at other times it is quiet.

Does anyone have trouble with the app? I'm listening on the 128k stream, which sounds fine
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:08pm

Using the pop up, am I hearing P'o now?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:09pm

The app and pop-up are bleeping and blooping more or less in unison for me just now.

Hi Mayuko!

I just thought I'd mention to your Mid Hudson listeners that there's going to be a kind of 80th Birthday celebration for the late Maryanne Amacher (who died in 2009) at her house tomorrow, Sunday Feb 25th at 4PM-7PM or so,
80 Marius Street
Kingston, NY.
I'll be there droning or something with some apps, and also playing with the Catskill Mountain Gamelan.

I think it was around '99?

H'lo. At 9 o'clock (Snohomish county time), I switched here from a sober discussion about whether we should arm teachers. That's America 2018!

Sorry. Of course, WFMU is America 2018, too.
Avatar 12:24pm
northguineahills:

@Mayuko: They recorded it in 2000. it's on their "Goodbye 21st Century" double album. (They also do Yoko Ono, Christian Wolf, John Cage, and other compositions. Jim O'Rourke, Christian Marclay, and Wharton Thiers lend a hand as well).
Avatar 12:24pm
northguineahills:

Yes, rbrt, you're correct, it was '99.

My radio family scraps! I thought more Americans were finally supporting gun control this time around.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:28pm
fred:

I saw them do it on the Goodbye 20th century tour. I think I saw that in 2000. A very confusing experience for a lot of people in the audience (many boos until they performed a few SY tunes at the end). That show had one of the best performances of a Cage piece I ever heard
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:29pm

@ngh It'll probably be pretty chaotic! I did a little work with her a few years ago, but my art partner Nik used to live with her.

Mayuko, some more Americans support gun control now, and maybe we'll get a little tiny bit more legislation because of active young people. But I didn't mean to start a gun control discussion.... just, it's weird to wake up in the only country that feels this way.

@Scraps: That Onion article pretty much summarized the bullshittery here. We live in an insane timeline when The Onion actually writes accurate political commentary. I got some people from my ISP showing up today, to sell me on switching to a better plan. I got a nice rebate, so I signed up. They lingered for about 15 minutes more as I told them about WFMU. One tested me with a favorite old band of his from Guinea, and here came two pages of plays in the archives, one two days ago. They left writing down the station's name and URL. Since this was after I signed up, I think there might be two new listeners in the near future
