I play music that is old and that is new. Some of it is digital while some is analog. It is from many different countries; sometimes it is loud and at other times it is quiet.

listener james from westwood:

Am listening to an FMU archive from two thousand goddamn four, which feels like a thousand centuries ago. Interesting to hear the DJ (Eva, of the Moonshine Heather program) airing some of the then-big FMU hits.

Good afternoon Mayuko and listeners

Good afternoon james and my radio family fred! Good morning, chresti! Glad to be back on the radio and listening to music with yous!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:06pm
fred:

Speaking of radio family, Mayuko is up for adoption! Not that Scraps or me are giving up on her, but someone has to step up and join us. This radio family has to grow
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:07pm
Ivan:

Hi Mayuko, everyone! welcome back.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:07pm
Webhamster Henry:

Hi Mayuko! Keep filling the archives with goodies!
Avatar 12:08pm
Mayuko:

Hallos, Ivan! Back in Canada yet? Welcome, Henry!!
Avatar 12:11pm
Mayuko:

And yes, I'm up for adoption again! Hoping to expand the radio family.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:11pm
Polyus:

I completely forgot the adoption part when I pledged, ah well. Hi Mayuko.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:12pm
Ivan:

No..:( over a month stuck in the same hotel is starting to get to me. but going home next friday \(^o^)/
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:12pm
listener james from westwood:

Delightful track; goes well with copyediting and caffeine.
Avatar 12:18pm
Mayuko:

Thanks for tuning in, Polyus! Not only you but people seem to be pledging early this year for some reason?!

I'll announce later but keep your wallet in just yet! I got some surprises prepared for live-pledgers this year!!!
Avatar 12:22pm
Mayuko:

@Ivan wow that's really long!!! Congrats on your soon-retuning home!
Avatar 12:23pm
Mayuko:

james, this show is made exactly, EXACTLY for that type of purpose, kinda dedicated to fellow freelancers!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:24pm
doctorjazz:

Taking a break from shoveling to check in (feeling a bit vertiginous).
Hi all!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:26pm
Ken From Hyde Park:

Hello, Mayuko and vertigo-getters!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:26pm
fred:

Maybe it's just the Pledge For Life program getting some steam. Live pledging goodies should draw more money, not reward what was already coming anyway
Avatar 12:26pm
Mayuko:

Welcome, doctorjazz, and Ken!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:29pm
listener james from westwood:

@Mayuko: w00t! Starring this show for future inspiration, perhaps as that 2004 archive I was listening to earlier did! Hoping I don't wait until 2034 to re-listen to this one!

P-90:

Greetings and Hinamatsuri wishes, DJ Mayuko and Vertigo Prefecture
Avatar 12:33pm
Mayuko:

Welcome, P-90! I completely forgot that it's hinamatsuri tomorrow! Maybe I should get me some Japanese sweets later.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:35pm
Dave in Vermont:

is there an English translation for Hina?
Avatar 12:39pm
Mayuko:

@Dave Apparently "Hina" is said to have developed from an old word "Hiina", which means small and cute. I had no idea. (& hallos!)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:40pm
Dave in Vermont:

The Small and Cute Festival?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:42pm

The small and cute Dolls festival, I guess? and this "dolls" include men dolls, they're small and cute too.

Avatar 12:44pm
Mayuko:

I kinda not wanna see life-size hina dolls, which won't be "hina" anyway.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:45pm
Dave in Vermont:

is that why the creepy music today? also appropriate the MJ doc is coming out in time for the festival
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:48pm
fred:

Damn, I missed another Japanese festival. There's a small shop/studio in Paris that sometimes holds sidewalk small-scale events on such days. Really nice, more neighborhood than cultural vibe. But I missed it this time
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:52pm

A little Amacher airplay! How loud should we be playing this?
Avatar 1:12pm
Mayuko:

@Ike he was about to talk over me on mic. he's not done any fill-ins or even cleared to be on the air yet!
Avatar 1:13pm

Welcome Manana! Yes! And they are one of the most beautiful things that's everywhere!

rw:

Good morning! Sounds like Saturday!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:17pm
fred:

Cats don't need clearing. Not that they'd care about getting that anyway. I wouldn't trust one with a regular show, though
  1:18pm
Barnaby:

Good afternoon Mayuko and all
  Swag For Life Member 1:18pm
Manana:

I have been trying to teach a river stone to speak for a while. Takes patience.
Avatar 1:18pm
Mayuko:

@Henry Feels like playing that really loud makes you feel very good and also could hurt your neighbors health.
Avatar 1:19pm
Mayuko:

Doug! Glad to be back on radio!!
Avatar 1:19pm
Mayuko:

rw, good morning!! Good afternoon, Barnaby!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:20pm
david w:

One amazing thing about Amacher live shows was that it was super loud but didn't hurt.
Avatar 1:22pm
Mayuko:

@Manana Haha, I imagine stones certainly can teach us a thing or two about patience! They seem to be the most patient people ever.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:26pm
fred:

I do like stones. I just like cats better. Unless you're talking about caring for one. Stones are so low maintenance
Avatar 1:28pm
Mayuko:

@david w wow, that is amazing. it is actually interesting how even some noise music are pleasant to listen to and other are more just irritating. I suppose some artists have deeper understanding of the physical quality of sounds, not only its concepts/ideas.
  1:29pm
ike:

@fred, would they play anything other than Cat Stevens and Cat Power? That would get old fast. Oh, and those Chris Watson cheetah-purring tracks on repeat, maybe.
Avatar 1:29pm
Mayuko:

@fred A cat with a regular show cannot be expected to show up every week on time! Though I have a feeling he'd get the biggest pledges when it comes to fundraiser.
Avatar 1:32pm
Mayuko:

@Ike All I can think of is Renaldo and the Loaf's "Bearded Cats".
  1:33pm
rw:

The amount of my pledge would depend on the music the cat DJ played. Maybe a little on the cat's on air personality too. Plus a few $ just for being a DJ cat.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:34pm
fred:

@ike: I'm pretty sure they wouldn't ever play Felder, no being but some human would be damaged enough to do that
  1:34pm
rw:

And Mayuko, Renaldo and the Loaf is WAY better than The Jingle Cats, which is all I could think of.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:36pm
Polyus:

@fred - It's way to deep to shovel, we just recorded the most February snowfall on record here in MN. I am more worried about what happens if we get a rapid warmup this spring. The downstairs is gonna be a little wet.
  1:36pm
rw:

fred, a cat might play Felder. You know you can't really trust those guys.
Avatar 1:37pm
Mayuko:

@rw It's because you care about contents, and sorry but you are MINORITY!!! Many people would donate for the DJ cat just for being a cat, assuming from how popular they are on the internet.
  1:41pm
rw:

Ha! Mayuko, you may be right. I really feel like a stick in the mud these days. Why can't I get excited about cat videos? I'm serious. I think it's a problem.
Avatar 1:43pm
Mayuko:

And no you can't really trust those cat guys. And dogs aren't any better either - while I had the 36hr straight work marathon at my client office there was a small dog project manager who would yell and bit my leg telling me to get back to work every time I leave my seat. Extremely strict manager. I prefer having stones around me than these people.
  1:47pm
ike:

I missed the beginning of the show — do you ever listen to REALLY FAST techno to keep yrself awake? The faster Jason Forrest type stuff? Or just this kind of speed?
Avatar 1:47pm
Mayuko:

@rw NO! You're just being normal!!!!!!!
  1:49pm
rw:

36 hr. work marathon is insane. February was bad for me but nothing like that! Never in my lifetime as far as I can remember. No wonder they call you a fucking legend!

Mark Hollis. Sigh. I have so many mundane memories tied to his music, because the first time I heard it was an event
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:54pm

Yes to what Listener James from Westward said. See you next week, Mayuko!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:54pm
coelacanth∅:

Mayuko @1.43 that was a small dog though. almost not a dog at all, just a genetically engineered variation on napolian. Leroy would be a good boss.

Leroy looks like an awesome boss. Remember to throw him a Bono every once in a while. Okay, that didn't make sense but you get what I was going for.
