Favoriting Cratedigger's Lung with Rich In Washington: Playlist from May 10, 2019 Favoriting

Rich in Washington's avatar View Rich in Washington's profile Favoriting

A three-hour exploration of excavations from the farthest reaches of humanity's hellish collective brain, through records, tapes, CDs, mostly scoured from country bumpkin thrift stores, creepy charity shops, backwoods junk stores, and even the internet - all mixed live. We don't judge, we just play 'em. Hosted by Rich in Washington.

@Mr. Fab: Not for Booji and Jerry though.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:03pm
Rich in Washington:

These dropouts are driving me nuts. It's actually on the recording, though, not my equipment for a change.
Avatar 7:03pm
Don-O:

Such a sweat and romantic......*burp*!
Avatar 7:04pm
Mr Fab:

Didn't notice Rich. so don't worry. I'm mean, it's pretty glitchy music to begin with, eh?
  7:05pm
Martinibomb:

Morton Subotnick yay!
Avatar 7:06pm
Mr Fab:

And speaking of the MOCA courtyard! (see last show's comments) Morton Subotnick gave a concert/software demo there. I met the man and spoke with him briefly.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:06pm
Webhamster Henry:

You know who's in New York?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:06pm
Rich in Washington:

It's actually on the record, like how it's recorded. I pulled a CD of it and it does the same thing.
  7:06pm
Martinibomb:

looking for disco-ish record suggestions right now to play tonight for a show I'm doing on Freeform Portland 2nite.

Hmmm. Remember that guy?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:07pm
Webhamster Henry:

This tune is dying for a live cover.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:08pm
Rich in Washington:

The 180-Gs should cover this entire album.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:08pm
Webhamster Henry:

You can cover the laughs by hocketing, kecak style.

Beware of the Blog is the gift that keeps on giving. Like an STD!
Avatar 7:14pm
Mr Fab:

I followed it up with two more sick disco comps for my own blog. Probably off-line by now.
  7:14pm
Martinibomb:

it's kinda perfect I already had about half of what I needed pulled more serious/boogie funk disco stuff.. so I think mixing it with these 360 ones will be perfect
Avatar 7:17pm
Mr Fab:

Great! glad to help. Hope to hear your show.
Avatar 7:18pm
Don-O:

I still have Music With Sound in my Ipod.....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:18pm
Rich in Washington:

There was this goofy trend of Disco covers of classic rock songs, like Pink Floyd's Have A Cigar and Iron Butterfly's Innagaddadavida (sic)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:18pm
Rich in Washington:

But have you developed earlids, Don-O?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:19pm
Rich in Washington:

What time are you on, Martinibomb?
Avatar 7:20pm

Hey Granny! nice ta see ya
Avatar 7:34pm
Mr Fab:

MB: check the blog "Stereofound" for an album of disco radio jingles. I'll be adding a bunch to the Sheena stream at some point.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:34pm
Rich in Washington:

I love this track so much. I never tire of it. I once played this for a group of Digital Culture students at a nearby university, giving a presentation on appropriation music and they were just sort of flummoxed that people were doing this kind of thing in the 60s and 70s using tape,
  7:35pm
Martinibomb:

Thanks again for the tip Mr fab! @RICH AGREEEE THIS TRACK IS AMAZE
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:36pm
Rich in Washington:

Trythall is much more well known for his really beautiful minimalist piano compositions.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:37pm
Rich in Washington:

He's been posting things on YouTube and they're pretty interesting.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:43pm

And later, Paxton immortalized the Jimmy Carter Rabbit Attack in song.

oh man wish I'd had this track for my Rabbit Hash Radio good theme
Avatar 7:43pm
Mr Fab:

Elmer Fudd's had elocution lessons
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:44pm

I just found this the other day. His records are sort of peculiar, at least one really standout weird song per LP.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:49pm
Rich in Washington:

Jean Shepherd this guy's NOT.
  7:50pm
Martinibomb:

I assume he meant the mind of a Pygmy goat?
Avatar 7:52pm
Mr Fab:

This talk-over music sounds like samples the Clash thru into "Sandinista." (Where were those samples from, anyway?)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:53pm
Granny Spicy Tuna:

Hey, gang! I will send a postcard to anyone who PMs me their mailing address (via my profile). This has been a super fun project to do while listening to WFMU.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:53pm
Rich in Washington:

Hi Granny! I'll take you up on that! Sounds fun.
  7:54pm
Martinibomb:

What's the project about?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:54pm
Rich in Washington:

I've got a bunch of Optigan samples, Fab. We actually had one when I was a kid. We tortured it!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:55pm
Rich in Washington:

Look up the Optigan. It's pretty trippy. That IS the instrument used in those Ian Dury bits on Sandanista. Tom Waits has also used one.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:55pm
Rich in Washington:

Like a poor man's mass market Mellotron/Chamberlain.
  7:55pm
Martinibomb:

My mom's friend had one when i was a kid and I was obsessed with it that and any of those nutty giganto organs with all the bells and whistle's you'd see at people's houses in the 70s lol
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:56pm
Granny Spicy Tuna:

Martinibomb: Just creative fun project style. I like sending and receiving things in the mail, and i have heaps of neato postcards that need to be sent!
  7:57pm
Martinibomb:

yeah ok just sent u my email at yer contact thingy
Avatar 7:58pm
Mr Fab:

will have to do that, Ms Tuna
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:58pm

Ours was a hand-me-down from our uncle. he got tired of it and gave it to our family. Someone had used what looked like a knife to play a glissando across the keys.

Thank you so much Webmaster Henry! Thanks for tuning in and commenting!
