I had one of the best music experiences of my life seeing Dave leading the Pres Hall band sitting at his feet about ten years ago. He went through his solo stuff and lots of Fats stuff and other stuff he wrote/arranged/produced. I saw him a few other times randomly playing trumpet in the band but the night leading the band going through his life’s work was unforgettable.

They heard a big crash when the records hit the floor, then he stumbled out all fucked up. Ron called 911, and while they were taking him to the hospital he says "I'm not done shopping yet!" True story.

	11:51pm Dean: Right. Marston et al. are masters at taking the best source, however defective it might be, and extracting the most information from it while at the same time not compromising quality with heavy-handed noise-reduction.
	11:54pm Dean: Caniell is famous for patching full opera productions sourced from radio broadcasts from which chunks of performance were missing for whatever reason with excerpts of contemporary performances including the same artists. Nobody can detect the slice.
