Hey Bill, have you heard the new P. Ubu record? My next door neighbor says it's good and may be the last one.
Avatar 12:19am
Bill Mac:

I've heard that Ubu is gonna pack in for the last 20 years, but it hurts my heart every time I hear it. Didn't know there was a new one coming out, I'll be on the lookout for it

i'm very very very very sad about David Berman. I thought American Water was one of the ten best rock albums in the last thirty years.
  12:41am
rw:

chresti, glad you're having a good time! It's cooling off a little here. Looks like mid 80s next week. Did you make it to Granny's house?
Avatar 12:42am
Scraps:

and Berman was a damned good poet as a lyricist, which almost nobody can say in rock (IMGDO).

just unhappy...
Avatar 12:42am
Bill Mac:

Hiya Scraps, lemmee see if I can get some Silver Jews on
  12:45am

Oh man. Sad news about D. Berman. Much too young.
  12:47am
chresti , Franco - SF:

rw, we did! No one was home! At least we think it was the house...I left a note (maybe it was Granny’s ten dollar bill that I found)

It's nice when artists retain their integrity into their later years. I don't think it's an easy thing to do.
Avatar 1:18am
Bill Mac:

UofE was Allen & Mushroom from San Francisco.
Avatar 1:21am
Bill Mac:

I didn't catch Allen until later in his career. He was still a force until his death
  1:25am
rw:

I never saw DA but ALMOST did in the late '70s. Saw Gilli Smyth but had to leave before Daevid and Gong played at a weird festival in a theater in LA. It was my first concert and we couldn't stay because we didn't have a car and my folks picked us up a little too early!
  1:41am
rw:

Good story! Now I want to find the video...

@Mauri What, Nina?
  1:52am
rw:

Haha! Nice! Looks like a great show!! You guys all should have lost. Prog rock dance rules!
Avatar 1:55am
Bill Mac:

I know! I didn't remember the sordid details until I saw the video. Only reason I lost was cos the other two guys were in heat and knocked over equipment.
  1:59am
Mauri:

Yeah Nina. I will watch your winner video when I get back home.

French Frith Kaiser Thompson should make a third album.
Avatar 2:03am
Scraps:

Thompson still plays French’s song “Now That I’m Dead” live, as far as I know....
Avatar 2:07am
Bill Mac:

I remember hearing that. According to the credits French co-wrote that one
Avatar 2:08am
Scraps:

Huh, I misremembered; I thought it was written by French solo.
Avatar 2:09am

Me too for that matter - someone named Blair.

Hey VP, there was something on the playlist that I thought would be of some interest, maybe not. Nigel Benjamin, the guy took over the vocal duties in Mott after Hunter left, passed away last week, so I did a little tribute. How you doing anyway?

Soul Jazz have confused Rate Your Music with =The World of Keith Haring=. RYM have assigned it as Disco/Punk, which I could see with Keith Haring getting into.... but Art Zoyd? Pylon? Fab Five Freddy? And, yes, The Girls? It’s all over the map. I want to read the liner notes, yeah.

Thanks Mauri, hopefully soon!
