How many songs name-check Merv Griffin?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:14pm

Hey Kris, hey y'all. Love that Bettye Swann track
Avatar 10:15pm

Hi Dan, it's a classic.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:17pm

Headman was written by JJ Cale
  10:17pm
Jon:

Really enjoying this set!

Jon:

I used to teach in the Dallas area. You’re right - when there is just a slight bit of ice on the roads, NOBODY goes to school!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:24pm
Matt from New Orleans:

This is a classic Kris
Avatar 10:31pm

Someone could do an entire set of Green Onions covers. This should happen.
Avatar 10:31pm
Kris Holmes:

i might be able to get close
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:34pm
Little Danny:

I could get close if I included "Green Onions" soundalikes.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:38pm
Matt from New Orleans:

Ain’t no scallions allowed Danny. Only Green Onions!
Avatar 10:38pm
Kris Holmes:

oh definitely
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:38pm
Little Danny:

Man I love '60s Prestige jazz 45s
Avatar 10:38pm
Kris Holmes:

i bought a few this weekend, some nice ones.
Avatar 10:39pm
Kris Holmes:

Dan, Dominic & I lamented over your not being there.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:39pm
Little Danny:

Haha Matt
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:45pm
Matt from New Orleans:

In the late 90s, Prestige tried to capitalize on the brief rise and fall of acid jazz and reissued a bunch of albums as legends of acid jazz. Willis Jackson had some.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:46pm
Matt from New Orleans:

This Ramsey Lewis track is a fave
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:51pm
Little Danny:

Thanks Kris! Nice to know I was missed
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:52pm
Little Danny:

Great compilations with some of the worst '90s design
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:55pm
Little Danny:

Jackson's 10-minute live version of "Jive Samba" on Jackson's Action is so epic. You know it, Kris?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:55pm
Matt from New Orleans:

Agreed on the design Danny
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:58pm
Little Danny:

Go Misa!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:58pm
Matt from New Orleans:

Good for her.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:58pm
Matt from New Orleans:

I know Jive Samba Danny. It’s a good jam.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:59pm
Little Danny:

For me ARC is way too many record collectors in one place. It makes me itch
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:00pm
Little Danny:

Indeed, Matt
Avatar 11:01pm
Kris Holmes:

LOL Dan
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:03pm
Matt from New Orleans:

I saw Mary Weiss at the Ponderosa Stomp. She was really cool.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:06pm
Little Danny:

There's an amazing mid-'60s live "Great Big Kiss" on YouTube with some inspired vocals from Weiss & co.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:09pm
Matt from New Orleans:

I grew up not far from where the Shangri-Las grew up. Many years later of course.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:14pm
Matt from New Orleans:

Kris agreed on Charles Brimmer
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:16pm
Little Danny:

Probably! A lot of unhealthy men in one place
Avatar 11:17pm
Kris Holmes:

oh yeah, so much sickness
  11:20pm
Dean:

I don't know ARC, and I probably don't want to know it, but we used to have a blast at the Capitol Records building (Hollywood) parking lot record sale early mornings during the '70s.
Avatar 11:22pm
fleep:

Do collectible records with surface noise get cleaned, or does that mess up the value, like the patina on an antique
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:24pm
Matt from New Orleans:

I’m laying down and will continue listening. Have a good night everyone.
Avatar 11:25pm
Kris Holmes:

nah, they get tossed in the trash, you can't clean scratches
Avatar 11:27pm
fleep:

There are how-to videos about cleaning records, not scratches, just x years of dust in the grooves, with wood glue and/or solvents. Probably not worth the effort, as you say
  11:27pm
Dean:

You can't clean scratches, but you can clean particulate matter. I took my copy of Sequentia's first traversal of Ordo Virtutum to my then fave stereo store. We played it once, then cleaned it on the Keith Monk machine. Night and day.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:28pm
Franco Twinkie:

Dean, I too would go to Capitol. It helped if I was already in Hollywood for a show. I was to lazy to drive from Pasadena otherwise.
  11:30pm
Dean:

Man, we drove from the eastern end of LA County. Loved that meet. I remember bumping into Armando Gallo there. He was the unofficial photographer of Genesis.
Avatar 11:34pm
Kris Holmes:

Sleep, I most definitely clean other stuff that isn't scratches off my records
Avatar 11:35pm
Kris Holmes:

*Fleep......darn auto-correct
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:35pm
Franco Twinkie:

A favorite memory was trying to get into a box of promising looking 45's that was been hogged by some dopey looking kid with unwashed hair in suede saddle shoes. A few years later he was fronting his own band. It was Jeffrey Lee Pierce.
  11:40pm
Dean:

Yup, that was the Capitol Records parking lot swap meet!
Avatar 11:40pm
fleep:

Kris, thanks for the effort, some of these sides have partied mighty hard
Avatar 11:41pm
Kris Holmes:

indeed, we can only go to battle with the records we have, not the records we wish we had :-(
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:46pm
Franco Twinkie:

I only have one record on Goldband - The Starvation Waltz by Hobo Bertrand.
Avatar 11:47pm
Kris Holmes:

there exists a LOT of records on Goldband
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:54pm
Franco Twinkie:

It was short and sweet for me tonight, Kris. Thank you just the same!
Avatar 11:54pm
Kris Holmes:

thanks for being here
Avatar 12:00am
fleep:

And we're doing it! Thanks, Kris.
