Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 12:15pm Phillippe Bastille:

Hey John! I hope you are staying warm today. Cold here. I should be out taking a walk but instead I'm sitting in the office eating potato chips and French onion dip...
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 12:17pm Julie:

That sounds pretty good, Phillippe.
  12:19pm John from Florham park:

Sorry to miss last week, Julie. I was indisposed. Caught it on the archives.
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 12:24pm Julie:

Hey it's nice that you listen whenever!
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 12:24pm Phillippe Bastille:

Love this Liela Moss, great production
  12:25pm John from Florham park:

@Phillippe found that song on Spotify
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 12:31pm Phillippe Bastille:

@John I haven't used Spotify in years. Seriously, if I can't find something live to listen to on FMU or the streams I'm finding stuff on the archives. I've been really expanding my listening to beyond the melodic music and getting into the stuff Bryce, Jesse Kaminski, and others of that ilk play. Lotsa archives there to explore.
  12:34pm John from Florham park:

@Phillippe so many archives so little time
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:34pm CHUCK ROAST:

@ Phillipe...I'm with you there. The possibilities are endless.
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 12:34pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Hi, JfFP. Happy Thursday!
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 12:39pm listener james from westwood:

In addition to Julie's show, Bryce and Jesse have great archives for editing and proofing. Also Donna, Jeff M., Bethany, Liz, and Fabio.
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 12:39pm Phillippe Bastille:

Funny story: I was in the kitchen the other day cooking and listening to a Neighbors Noise archive when my son brought his new girlfriend over -- I had only met her once. She started looking around the room for the source of the sounds, kind of perplexed. They had a nice little giggle on the way out of the kitchen as my son explained how weird his dad is.
Avatar 12:40pm Hubig Pie:

Juile, I have three macaws and they love to dance
  12:40pm John from Florham park:

@Phillippe ha ha
  12:41pm Mr Nobody:

Aww your birdies don't get to listen live? Do you at least play them the archive later? lol
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 12:42pm Julie:

Hurray for Macaws!
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 12:44pm Phillippe Bastille:

Julie, can you run an aux line from your computer/tablet/phone to your stereo? They make adapters if the stereo doesn't have a dedicated aux jack that uses the smaller cables
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 12:47pm Julie:

Oh I know I can do it, it's just a lot of hassle when I'm leaving the house.
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 12:47pm Julie:

what color macaws? I'd like a mini macaw one day
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 12:51pm Phillippe Bastille:

Ah. I have an old phone that I have on my wireless network that I stream from. Can't make calls but can run the FMU app. And we all know, nobody needs anything more than the FMU app...
Avatar 12:52pm Hubig Pie:

1 Greening
1 Blue and Gold
1 Scarlet
Now if I could only come across an extra $5000, maybe a Hyacinth too.
Avatar 12:54pm Hubig Pie:

Greenwng. And a real teddy bear
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 12:54pm Julie:

My father has a greenwing, and I think the other is blue and gold but I don't remember. We had three now we have two because they picked on the one. The green wing is SO BIG
Avatar 12:56pm Hubig Pie:

I stole my screen name from my green wing

Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 1:52pm Phillippe Bastille:

You and SheilaB be the movin'-est people ever...
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 1:56pm Julie:

is that a good thing? I hope so.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:58pm CHUCK ROAST:

Speaking of the Grammys, how about Tyler, the creator's performance. I was oddly moved by it.
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 1:58pm Phillippe Bastille:

Neutral I guess. Good because moving relatively frequently keeps you agile and not ruled by your posessions, but damn, it can be stressful
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 1:59pm Julie:

oh THAT kind of moving. I thought it was something to do with the music. Yep, hopefully when I finally finish this move it will be the last one for a while.
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 2:00pm Julie:

@chuck my friend who was there said it was even more amazing live.
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 2:00pm listener james from westwood:

Lou hitting too close to the mark on the liver lyric.
Avatar 2:00pm βrian:

The woman I bought my house from had lived there for 48 years.
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 2:01pm Julie:

Wow.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:01pm northguineahills:

I was surprised that Tyler the Creator was even nominated, I saw him accept his award as my sis-in-law put on the tv (don't follow the grammys). I remember seeing Tyler w/ maybe 70 some people at that Vans place in Greenpoint years ago....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:02pm doctorjazz:

Hi. Lou Reed is another of those artists who'll get me on the boards.
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 2:02pm Julie:

I'm more puzzled by DJ Khalid who just seems to shout his name
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 2:02pm Julie:

heya Dr Jazz!
Avatar 2:04pm βrian:

There's killing time and then there's just toying around with it, like a bored cat.
  2:04pm Mr Nobody:

Oh man. I never get tired of Pink Floyd. I still remember the first time I heard them. Like you, The Wall was the first album I was introduced to. I still fondly think back to spending time with my aunt an uncle as a kid. They had a room full of shelves and boxes with hundreds of records. There is no doubt that my eclectic taste in music and appreciation for genres no one my age appreciated was directly from spending time with them listening to albums with them.
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 2:06pm Julie:

wow, that is really nice. The most interesting thing my folks had was Peter Paul & Mary. At least my sisters had some Three Dog Night and Steppenwolf.
  2:07pm Mr Nobody:

I think this is one of several reasons why I enjoy tuning in here. My aunt Julie is where I really feel my love of music began. How appropriate I tune in to listen to another Julie to further my tastes and appreciation of music.
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 2:09pm Julie:

hurray for cool aunts!
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 2:09pm WR:

Oh no! Dorothy has nodded out in the field of poppies! Where some snow she can snort to get her up?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:09pm Rich in Washington:

My earliest preteen memories of music involved going to relative's houses - parties, etc., and just listening to their records on headphones. So much more interesting than the records we had at our house.
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 2:10pm listener james from westwood:

Mom was too late to easily run out to the West Coast and hear bands like Airplane and the Doors live, but I know she wished she had. She had Surrealistic Pillow and Santana's Abraxas vinyls alongside the cast recordings for classic Broadway shows.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:10pm doctorjazz:

My parents had The Barry Sisters and Tony Orlando and Dawn Knock Three Times.
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 2:10pm Julie:

hiya WR!
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 2:12pm listener james from westwood:

She definitely would've dug this show. She also loved film soundtracks; she'd have dug Morricone Island, too!
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 2:12pm Julie:

yeah my folks had a lot of Streisand, Trini Lopez and things like the soundtrack to Exodus. They were born in the 30s. Not so hip.
Avatar 2:14pm Hubig Pie:

Me mum and dad had Harry Belefonte, Al Hirt and The Limelighters on reel to reel tape. Yay Nick Drake and Tumbleweed Connection gets my vote for best EJ disc
  2:14pm spodiodi:

it's fun trying to remember
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 2:14pm Julie:

Interesting! I have trouble connecting with that one, it's got so much C&W inspired stuff. (kinda like me and Muswell Hillbillies). I'm trying to give it some more attention.
Avatar 2:15pm βrian:

Herb Alpert. And a Time-Life compilation on the history of classical music.
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 2:16pm Julie:

oh yes of course! They had whipped cream and other delights. I would dance around the living room to that stuff.
Avatar 2:17pm Hubig Pie:

Tumbleweed Connection also has the entire soundtrack to Dog Day Afternoon
  2:17pm Mr Nobody:

I'm not sure if my aunt was ever able to tune in to your show. I believe I played her some while visiting not too far back. She did think it was pretty neat you had this show. Definitely music she enjoyed.
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 2:19pm Julie:

is there more than Amoreena? It's been a while since I've seen that.
Avatar 2:21pm Hubig Pie:

I googled Opal and now I know why that sounded like Mazzy Star and yes Amoreena was the only music in DDA
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 2:22pm Julie:

i almost played Mazzy Star too and I was like, eh, that seems redundant.
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 2:23pm Julie:

that song escaped my notice for a long time until it was used so nicely in Rocketman
  2:23pm Funky16Corners:

Hi Julie!
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 2:23pm Julie:

heya Funky16
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 2:27pm listener james from westwood:

Yes, that and Arthur Treachers were national Fish & Chip franchises.
  2:31pm Mr Nobody:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:32pm CHUCK ROAST:

Long John Silver's....part of Yum foods.
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 2:32pm WR:

Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 2:35pm Julie:

oh yes arthur treachers. We also had a lot of steak from a place called Bonanza.
  2:37pm Funky16Corners:

I have fond memories of a low-rent steakhouse chain called Mr. Steak.
Avatar 2:37pm βrian:

And I think a place called Ponderosa was a spin-off.
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 2:37pm Julie:

and what part of the world was that in?
Avatar 2:38pm βrian:

"I'll have what Hoss is having."

I love how Al rolled the R in “Puerto Ricans”
Avatar 2:38pm Hubig Pie:

It was always "All you can eat" at The Sizzler

Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 2:39pm listener james from westwood:

Holy Mackerel! Such a good album!
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 2:40pm Julie:

I just love Paul so much
  2:42pm Funky16Corners:

Me too, and this is an often overlooked chapter in his story.
Avatar 2:42pm βrian:

And here I thought I was listening to Robyn Hitchcock.
  2:45pm Funky16Corners:

This HMTB is great, new to me
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 2:48pm Julie:

I am going to try to end with a song today, Funky, I will try not to go over!

Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 2:49pm Julie:

thanks for listening everyone! stick around for Testify in a few, and I'll see ya next week!
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 2:51pm Phillippe Bastille:

In the Baltimore area we had a bunch of football players who opened up their own fast food franchises. Most were gone after a few years (Gino's, Ameche's), but one guy made enough that he bought his own football team (Jerry Richardson/Carolina Panthers)
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 2:51pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Thanks, Julie. I guess Anna Copa Cabanna's show for Australia was last night. I hope that went well.
Avatar 2:51pm βrian:

Love buying stuff on BC. Love rounding up to make the artist a bit more $. Anytime I see something for like $8 or $13, I'm like, let's make that an even amount.

Many thanks, Julie! Safe travels!
