  7:02pm P-90:

The show that makes my neck hurt just listening.
Hi Dan and Fryers.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:04pm Handy Haversack:

I just finished reading _Split Tooth_ by Tanya Tagaq, whom I know you have played a good bit, Dan. It was a good read! Took longer than it should have as my reading schedule got disrupted by the loss of my commute. You know.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:04pm coelacanth∅:

greetings Dan and all
  7:06pm Earth Walker:

So cool I think we all need to do deep throated Buddhist chants !

Avatar 7:15pm Sonderangebot:

Hi all, first time I tune in to this show and so far so very good.
Avatar 7:15pm northguineahills:

Arvo Part also did a good arrangement of De Profundis (my favorite Baltic Holy minimalist).
  7:18pm Earth Walker:

Right on Handy !

Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:21pm mariano:

Ahhh so my English girlfriend was calling me "the Seven Winds" all along.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:23pm Handy Haversack:

Zing! No way a zombie could be that clever, @mariano -- you made it!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:23pm mariano:

A zombie, moi? Now how could your delicious brain come up with such a silly idea?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:24pm Richard S:

Nice article on community radio at the NY Times! They chat with WWOZ and a couple other teeny stations, in addition to WFMU
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:25pm Handy Haversack:

I'll just ... pick up this baseball bat ... no reason ...

(It's Cajun brainguine!)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:25pm mariano:

Lol!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:26pm mariano:

Cajun brainguine is definitely going on my Halloween menu.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:26pm Handy Haversack:

Ha! It will be the jape of the season!
  7:27pm Mark b:

this is so good. ooioo vibe
Avatar 7:32pm northguineahills:

Universal Sounds (a sublabel of Soul Jazz), put out an album of Georgian liturgical an a capella choir about 10 years ago, FYI.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:32pm ifny:

WWOZ in NOLA is wonderful, very kind, dedicated, knowledgeable programmers at the station down there. Glad to hear they got some exposure! I like listening to the 'traditional' jazz on weekday mornings. As a side note, when the dust settles and you're visiting New Orleans in the future, wwoz.org posts info about Sunday second lines so you can join the fun!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:33pm ifny:

Oh and thank you for playing Yma Sumac! I hang my head in sadness remembering the lesson she taught me about the fragility of 78s.
  7:34pm slawooy:

Huunhuurtu meltdown
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:36pm Dave in Vermont:

Yes! Meredith Monk!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:36pm Devin B.:

Wasn't Eastman was uncredited as a vocalist on the album?
Avatar 7:38pm terribilia:

this is insanely beautiful
Avatar 7:38pm Dan Bodah:

@Devin, Eastman is credited only as an organist on this track. I wonder if that's correct?
Avatar 7:38pm northguineahills:

Julius Eastman, a much underrecorded/performed composer. He came to my attention via DJ Spooky 1999 (another artist whose music I like, but detest as a human [see Miles Davis]).
Avatar 7:39pm Dan Bodah:

Eastman definitely sang on Dolmen Music.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:40pm olivia:

oh wow! didn't know eastman was involved in this recording
Avatar 7:40pm northguineahills:

(the detest statement was direct at Dj Spooky, he was a a dick to my friends when they toured together in Europe)
  7:40pm bluebombers:

DB #1. Bonjour Love the Bulgarian vocals. I commend their perseverance & preservation of their music , especially under hundreds of years of Ottoman domination.
Avatar 7:41pm northguineahills:

oh, and.... Meredith Monk!
Avatar 7:42pm northguineahills:

The last 250 years of Ottoman suzerainty, it was pretty much a ping pong match b/tn the local aristocrats and the Janniseries ....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:43pm Devin B.:

Maybe that's what I'm thinking of.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:43pm Devin B.:

There's a new Meredith Monk album out just a couple days ago. Looking forward to listening.
Avatar 7:43pm northguineahills:

  7:48pm malĥerbo (nl):

Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:48pm ifny:

Richard S: warm sand and distant moths
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:49pm mariano:

Amphibious sheep?
Avatar 7:53pm Dan Bodah:

Turtles dream of the insides of cocoons and butterflies dream of the insides of shells.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:54pm Dave in Vermont:

and the hits just keep on coming
it'll be Annea Lockwood if he keeps this up
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:55pm Dave in Vermont:

Avatar 7:55pm northguineahills:

Turtles dream of Tacoma Recs (many bands have been named of the image Fahey's image of his label, see Tortoise [not a turtle])
