Mr Nobody:

Hey Julie. Hey everybody.
  12:00pm
P-90:

Is this where they’re going to have “Three hours of crying and Nick Drake”? Am I in the right place?
Avatar 12:00pm

Out of the frying pan and into the darkness, I guess.

Crying pan, I meant, naturally.

I had actually left Nick out when I put the show together last night but I put him in this morning!

Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 12:06pm

Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 12:06pm

Julie, glad to hear it. Hope everyone's doing as well as can be today.
  12:06pm
P-90:

I’m guessing future shows will include “Three hours of crying and Nick Cave”, and maybe even “Three hours of crying and Nick Lowe”? Also guessing there won’t be “Three hours of crying and Nikki Sixx”, because that would be stretching it a bit too far.
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 12:06pm
Julie:

hi James!
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 12:07pm
Julie:

yeah I don't think Nick Lowe would work. Nick Mason? How many Nicks are there?
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 12:08pm
Granny Spicy Tuna (e/em):

I'm not sure you could do three hours of crying and Nick Gilder, but a couple of those thrown in could be wild

Ooh, the little-heard Prince version!
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 12:25pm

I use a VPN and usually route all my web traffic through Canada (so that I seem nicer online!). Goggle often seems to think that we Canadians are native German speakers. So that's fun.

@Phillippe: And cows' rear ends are the new CDC filtration standard! This idea's got legs!

@Handy how are you able to use a VPN and get to the comment board? I've used NordVPN and FMU would not accept my log-in
  12:31pm
?:

Prince version was delish
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 12:33pm
Handy Haversack:

Huh -- never had any trouble, @Phillippe. Some stores reject the connection from the VPN [who needs you, Best Buy!] -- and when I try to get product specs on Amazon (I would never order from it), I am shown only those products available in Canada. But never an issue with FMU.

I use Private Internet Access.

Heart is a big thing for us, too. I cannot give Ann Wilson a run for her money. But I sing "Magic Man" every karaoke.
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 12:37pm
listener james from westwood:

Now Heart, that's the good kind of fire.
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 12:38pm

@handy me too! I love that one. And of course I did Barracuda at the Hoof n Mouth one year
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 12:38pm

@brian he actually came in that day to do it personally, Ken made him. But I remember getting calls and playing tape hiss and other things.
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 12:39pm

@Julie: Ooo! "Barracuda"!
  12:39pm
P-90:

Julie’s “Barracuda” was very enthusiastic! Totally committed.

Those original Heart albums had everything. Songwriting, singing, playing, arrangements, production, all top-notch AND original.
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 12:42pm

Thanks Handy. I have the lifetime license to Nord, so I'm kind of stuck with it
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 12:42pm

Yes so good!
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 12:43pm
Julie:

I was hoping Ann was on Cameo so I could send my sis a msg but no such luck
Avatar 12:44pm
βrian:

So, is it the comments board that blocks NordVPN? Perhaps those IP ranges are on block lists.
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 12:45pm
listener james from westwood:

Depeche!
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 12:45pm
Handy Haversack:

@P-90: VH1's Behind the Music on Heart is actually really good -- touches the heart, if you know what I mean.

It is on the major socially irresponsible video platform, as is a SMOKING rendition of "Magic Man" live on a German TV show. Worth finding a way to watch!
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 12:46pm
Handy Haversack:

@Phillippe: worth asking SMKen to whitelist you?
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 12:47pm
Julie:

oh man I could go into a k-hole of heart videos so easy
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 12:49pm
Phillippe Bastille:

@ βrian appears to be. I could comment as a guest but not on my log-in. It's been a while, and I only use the VPN when I work remotely, so it's not a huge issue. Was mostly curious about how Handy got around it. Might be a country thing. Nord routes traffic through many different countries, different each time.
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 12:50pm
Julie:

will using one of those let me watch UK tv that is blocked here?
Avatar 12:52pm
βrian:

I suspect it's based on the IP range used by a given VPN provider. You might send a query to the FMU web person to see if your address is on a block list.

I'm usually on a work VPN and haven't had a problem.
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 12:53pm
Phillippe Bastille:

Not sure Julie. Just logged into Nord and it kicked me off of the stream -- had to restart. Still on it, so let's see if this post shows up
Avatar 12:54pm
βrian:

@Julie: not if the broadcasters have explicitly blocked that provider's range. I just depends.
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 12:54pm
Handy Haversack:

@Julie: Could do, yeah. PIA lets you pick from a range of servers to use, in various countries. So, for example, an expat friend can access his U.S. bank accounts and things like his Steam account from his computer in Europe without jumping through even MORE hoops. Or, you know, watch the clip of me on Jimmy Kimmel on ABC's site -- BANNED in Europe!
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 12:54pm
Phillippe Bastille:

Well, there ya go
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:54pm

Changed name to White Heart, then to Hocus Pocus shortly before Ann Wilson's joining in 1970, then finally to Heart in 1972. Nancy Wilson joined after sitting in and auditioning in 1974."

WR:

GST, interesting that you should write that about raisins. I put raisins in many many dishes. Decades past I can still remember how shocked I was that my then 5 year old daughter was vehement that she would not eat oatmeal with raisins. Totally not a fussy eater. Kimchi to wakame seaweed, vegetables all across the spectrum. Raisins in oatmeal a line she would not cross.

P-90:

“Bebe” was the first “Heart 2.0” album with the boys out and the Wilsons firmly in control.
It’s a bit off to say Nancy “took over lead”, they never really divided the parts that way; Nancy continued to play parts she had written as she always had. If anyone, Leese was closest to “lead guitarist” at that point, covering all the trickiest stuff the brothers had done. (If anyone cares about Heart micro-trivia)
  1:27pm
P-90:

But: 100% correct about the perms.
Avatar 1:27pm
