Listener comments!

Avatar 11:50am Sean in Bristol UK:

Good afternoon Irene, hello one and all. Love the photo, a glimpse of what the Gary Numan concert could possibly look like in ten days time.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:55am Irene Trudel:

Glad to have you here, Sean (and all listeners)!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:56am Irene Trudel:

Yes Sean! this could be the new normal for concerts coming up. It was weird but it worked.
Avatar 11:59am Stork:

Hey Irene! Looking forward to this show!!
Avatar 12:00pm Stork:

@Sean: IN CARS!!! Love it!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:01pm Jim the Poet:

Good afternoon!
Avatar 12:01pm Sean in Bristol UK:

@Stork, Filton airfield, Bristol a week this Friday, can't wait!
Avatar 12:02pm Brian in UK:

Hello Irene, Joe just played an hour of Judy Dyble. Too many of these darn tributes needed lately for my liking.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:02pm Phillippe Bastille:

Howdy
Avatar 12:03pm βrian:

Ah, summer! The kitchen is overflowing with fresh basil, peaches, and blueberries.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:03pm Irene Trudel:

Hi Stork and Jim! Indeed, concerts in cars. Flash your high beams to applaud, honk horns for a standing ovation.
Avatar 12:04pm Really Lisa:

Hi Irene and all.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:04pm Irene Trudel:

Welcome Brian, Phillippe and βrian! Agreed, there are too many of our generation leaving us. I will have a little tribute to Judy as well.
Avatar 12:05pm Sean in Bristol UK:

Oh-er, Irene, awesome majestic track to start proceedings.
  12:05pm Malcolm:

Hi Irene and everyone
Avatar 12:06pm βrian:

On hearing the start of Irene's show, my cat tipped over and fell into feline reverie.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:06pm alanr:

Always nice to be back at the aural oasis from the madness and stupidities.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:07pm Irene Trudel:

Hey Malcolm and alanr! βrian, that's too cute. Hoping to make some of you Humans tip over into reverie as well.
  12:10pm Peter K.:

The very thought of Irene being on the air tips me over into reverie every Monday.
Avatar 12:10pm Sean in Bristol UK:

Irene, a bit of a bummer but this track isn't available to download via the trinity of hell, ie, Apple Music. this has got my radar humming, worth seeking out the cd, July?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:14pm Irene Trudel:

You're too kind, Peter! Sean, that Neil Nappe album is quite old-- from the mid-1980's. All electronic and quite nice. Nova is my favorite track.
Avatar 12:16pm Sean in Bristol UK:

Yes, just look on Amazon, not easy to get hold of but that's my new project, to get hold of a copy
Avatar 12:17pm βrian:

Back when electronica depended on a knob-and-tube infrastructure.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:17pm doctorjazz:

Hi Irene and Streamers! Busy, not likely to be able to post much, quick hi for now.

Avatar 12:19pm Sean in Bristol UK:

Thank you @ ?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:22pm Stanley:

Hi Irene and Trudellers
  12:26pm Dean:

My copy of this Synergy record was on translucent vinyl.
Avatar 12:27pm Sean in Bristol UK:

I have to come up with the same cliches but what a set of epic and majestic proportions, I present a potato from the New World, my Queen!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:29pm Stanley:

Have you got any tobacco, instead, Sean.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:31pm Irene Trudel:

Hi doctorjazz, dean and Stanley! Lurking is welcome. Dean, my copy of Cords by Synergy is also on clear vinyl. It's hell to cue up!
Avatar 12:34pm Sean in Bristol UK:

Oh Man, Thank you Irene!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:35pm Irene Trudel:

Your upcoming show inspired me to play Gary Numan, Sean!
  12:37pm Malcolm:

This is great. Think I may have underappreciated Gary Numan
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:38pm Irene Trudel:

He has a lot of depth, Malcolm.
  12:38pm Enrique from M3xic0:

Hi all! excellent content. I'm new and I get lost in the playlists. where do i see the current listing? Thank you!
( ˘ ³˘)
Avatar 12:39pm Sean in Bristol UK:

I am curled up in a faecal position right now! Just kidding, mind considerably blown! Have I spelt faecal right?
  12:41pm Malcolm:

Hi Enrique!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:43pm steveo:

Hello Irene, great to hear you!
  12:43pm Enrique from M3xic0:

I already found what I was looking for. sorry.

Return of the drive in theater.
Avatar 12:45pm βrian:

Drive your laptop to the drive-in theater.
  12:45pm Enrique from M3xic0:

Hi, Malcolm! (っ◕‿◕)っ
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:52pm WR:

Only a few youthful memories of drive in movies with family. West Side Story, a Vincent Price Edgar Allen Poe double bill, one of which was The Pit & the Pendulum, and Shane.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:53pm Irene Trudel:

Welcome steveo, Enrique and WR! Nice to have you as a newbie hopefully returning regular. FYI, the current song usually can be seen just below the picture. The rest of the playlist is below.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:55pm Linda Lee:

hi Irene! thanks so much for the good sounds on this summer day!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:04pm Irene Trudel:

Thanks Linda!
Avatar 1:07pm Really Lisa:

Thanks for the first hour, Irene.
Meetings will take up my ears now :(
Peace, all.
Avatar 1:07pm gongoleer:

Hello world. Finally checking in. Cool sounds to chill with for hot humid day in VT. Thanks Irene.
  1:10pm Malcolm:

Hi Gongoleer!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:11pm Irene Trudel:

So sorry, Lisa. May they not be too dull. The archive waits for you after the show. Hey gongoleer! Yes, chill with us.
Avatar 1:13pm Sean in Bristol UK:

This track, oh my goodness!!
Avatar 1:15pm gongoleer:

Probably same heat in NYC & elsewhere, right? @Malcolm, hi. Don't recognize you. R U new listener?
  1:16pm Malcolm:

Relatively new!
  1:16pm Malcolm:

Medium term listener maybe
  1:19pm bigplanetnoise:

Howdy, Irene! Happy Monday stuff!
Avatar 1:19pm Stork:

Good luck with your surgery, Irene. Hope you can come back punching soon thereafter!
Avatar 1:21pm gongoleer:

@Irene: What was cost for drive in concert? Cheshire Fairgrounds in Keene, NH is having one soon & cost os $60-$159/car. Guess the lesser will be wayyyyyy back of the field. back in the 80's, when I worked as entertainment photojournalist I photographed and met James Brown, Chuck Berry, Carl Perkins & Roy Orbison all on the same bill. An amazing show but tickets for the public weren't anywhere near as pricey as today's.
Avatar 1:21pm Brian in UK:

Irene, can sympathise with Carpal Tunnel surgery, had it in both hands, goodbye tingly hands. Be a brave soldier!!!
  1:26pm Malcolm:

Good luck with the surgery Irene
Avatar 1:28pm gongoleer:

@Irene. Good luck with surgery. You'll be in my thoughts and a healing prayer. I may need something similar on my left hand thumb. Something called trigger finger. It's inhibited my playing hand drums.
Avatar 1:29pm gongoleer:

@ Malcolm. Where are you located?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:29pm Irene Trudel:

Thanks Brian, Malcolm and gongoleer. I had the left hand done in March and it really wasn't so bad. I was back in action about a week later. And, as you say, "goodbye tingly fingers!" It's made such a difference.
Avatar 1:32pm gongoleer:

That's encouraging. Mine comes and goes. So far no tingling, just finger joint locking up.
Avatar 1:33pm Brian in UK:

Patient: After surgery will I be able to play the piano?
Doctor: That should be no problem.
Patient: That's great as I could not play it before.
Ta Da. I know it has whiskers on it.
  1:34pm Malcolm:

I'm in Stockport, a town just south of Manchester (England). Its grey and industrial but has certain charms
Avatar 1:35pm gongoleer:

@ Brian UK. Cute. I'll have to remember that one.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:35pm Irene Trudel:

gongoleer, the Gaffigan show was fairly expensive, but it was a per car fee. Doesn't exactly work for single people.
Avatar 1:39pm gongoleer:

@Malcolm: Think I know where it is. Have relatives in Leicester, friends in London, & lived in Wales for 6 mos. years ago. Long story, not for here. I'm in small town of 12K in So. Vermont, not industrial, but quite seasonally touristy. It too has charms enough for me to be living here past 30 years. Thanks.
Avatar 1:42pm gongoleer:

@Irene. I figured it was. No I wouldn;t think of going alone in car. At Lowe end of $60/car, load it with 4 or 5 people and cost is $12-$15.00. Reasonable.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:43pm Granny Spicy Tuna (e/em):

Greetings, Irene and WFMU folx!
Avatar 1:45pm gongoleer:

Hey Granny. Spicey Tuna sounds delicious. Have to try it. What seasoning? Hahaha!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:45pm Irene Trudel:

Hi Granny!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:46pm Granny Spicy Tuna (e/em):

gongoleer: ha ha! well, wasabi is a good kick!
  1:46pm Malcolm:

Hi Granny Spicy Tuna!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:47pm Granny Spicy Tuna (e/em):

hey there, Malcolm, good too see you here today
Avatar 1:49pm Brian in UK:

@Malcolm, our daughter lives in Bredbury.
Avatar 1:53pm Brian in UK:

Birdland is popular in this house, some might say it is more pop than jazz. Our family seems to like it and after dinner it gets the washing up done quickly, well it did before all the birds flew the nest.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:55pm Irene Trudel:

True, Brian. I'm not playing that today, just focusing on these few tracks to celebrate Zawinul's brithday.
  1:57pm Malcolm:

@Brian in UK cool! Not too far away, I'm in edgeley. Are you based in the north west?
Avatar 2:00pm Brian in UK:

Malcolm, I live in Shropshire twixt Ludlow and Much Wenlock. I live on the edge so to speak.
Avatar 2:02pm gongoleer:

@Granny: Might try it. Thanks. @Brian & Malcolm, ur making me nostalgic for UK with those neat town names.
  2:02pm Malcolm:

Nice part of the world
Avatar 2:05pm Brian in UK:

gongoleer, two villages down is Diddlebury.

Malcolm, very good given the current climate.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:07pm Summer and Michael and Sylvia:

Good morning (-ish), Irene!
Avatar 2:10pm northguineahills:

yep, I'm here....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:15pm doctorjazz:

Richard Thompson posted about Judy Dyble's passing this past weekend.
Avatar 2:16pm northguineahills:

I didn't hear about that, dr jazz, damn....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:17pm Irene Trudel:

Hey Summer and Michael and Sylvia and northguineahills. Thanks for mentioning that, doctorjazz. I'll look up Richard's comments after the show.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:20pm doctorjazz:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:22pm doctorjazz:

I talk to the Wind, very pretty (never heard this version).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:23pm doctorjazz:

(Got a bit of a breather after a crazy busy morning, including a flat tire)
Avatar 2:27pm gongoleer:

Hadn't heard of her passing either. Giles Giles & Fripp had heavy influence on my own music making. RIP Judy.
Avatar 2:28pm northguineahills:

Sucks, dr jazz, I had days like that....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:32pm doctorjazz:

NGH, you're way over your quota of days like that. Statistically speaking, life should be clear sailing from here on in! (Unfortunately, it doesn't work that way, but I'm hoping it does!)
Avatar 2:34pm northguineahills:

The concussion symptoms are finally fading away. My car is fixed, and my should finally start by the end of next week, so, things could be worse.
Avatar 2:35pm Brian in UK:

Oh Irene you did what you promised. 'Queens, Queens oh groovy'.
Avatar 2:35pm northguineahills:

It's weird I've never heard of Giles, Giles & Fripp as a group...
Avatar 2:36pm gongoleer:

TO EVERYONE: Gotta bolt early, so will say adios, ariverdeci, adieu, gutted tag, shalom, salaam, a bientot and so on. Have a peaceful week. Thank you Irene and all for your interactive communications. It helps keep insanity in check and maintain sanity. I think we're all hungering for contact and Irene your show offers that. Blessings.
Avatar 2:39pm Brian in UK:

The trick of Playback is to get jazz musicians, so the music is on the ball. No doodling.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:39pm doctorjazz:

Have heard of Giles, Giles and Fripp, but hadn't gotten to hear much of their music, nice to get a taste.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:40pm Irene Trudel:

NGH, sorry to hear but glad you're okay! Brian, I love this Appletree Theatre album! happy to bring it out. gongoleer, have a great day and I'll catch you in two weeks.
Avatar 2:48pm Brian in UK:

Irene, good luck with the op. X
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:49pm Irene Trudel:

Thanks Brian! It'll be fine.
Avatar 2:52pm Sean in Bristol UK:

Irene, blessings and all things positive to you, your return to us can't come sooner,
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:53pm doctorjazz:

Good luck, Irene! Thanks for the fine show! Later, all!
Avatar 2:55pm northguineahills:

@Irene: At least this time it wasn't due to my own stupidity. I'm a zombie when I wake-predawn, leaning over to turn on my laptop, I hit my head on a shelf. The clean up was fun... I appreciate the concern
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:56pm Phillippe Bastille:

Thanks Irene! Good luck with the surgery!
Avatar 2:57pm northguineahills:

(I'm not at my own pad, either, so, I wasn't used to the set up)>

Oh smith! Buena suerte w/ the surgery, Irene, I missed that. (thanks Phillippe).
Avatar 2:58pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Thanks, Irene! Up next right here on the Drummer stream: "It's All Forgotten Now" and "Don't Fear the Rumsfeld", dreamy sound collage for the next two hours!
