In November we (Platenclub Utrecht) are going to release an acetate-EP that was recorded in 1966 in the GTB studio in The Hague by The Flingelbunts on our own record label PLUT as 13th release. There was an article years ago (Vanity Fair, or ?) in which they convened a round table of the greatest living songwriters of the 1930s-1950s. The only thing they agreed on: that Kern’s All the Things You Are was maybe the best songwriting job of their generation.

The best guitarist currently preforming I know of is Mary Halvorson (it's just a coincidence the happens to be a woman). I'm sure you've at least heard of her.  It's amazing that such a seemingly mild mannered person plays with such a powerful and sometimes aggressive style. She's not a heavy metal musician but she puts virtually all heavy metal males to shame.

afternoon sophisticated Boomers, Sheila B, I hope you don't mind me suggesting a featured artist. her name is Tina Cole. she'll be turning 76 this August 4th. she was best known for playing the part of Katie Miller Douglas on my three sons. she also was one of the four king cousins. I came across a B&W video of her from 1965 singing "where is love". she's an unusual candidate I know, but I figure you might consider her because she is.
