Avatar 12:01am Hoboken Jack:

For a second I thought it was Tusk. Good evening Ira, skeleton, all.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:02am Rory:

Skeleton crew, Scott! Wow, you people are amazing!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:02am Rory:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:02am coelacanth∅:

  12:03am Rick G:

Pow pow pow! Oh wait, different show
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:04am Cooh John:

Salutations, Ira and listeners.
Swag For Life Member 12:05am Ira:

Hi everybody. Thanks for tuning in.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:06am Rory:

Yup, I love a song with strong bass!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:06am Nate K.:

I heart solo David Johansen.
Swag For Life Member 12:07am Ira:

Hope you're listening with headphones. Excellent drum fill panning!
  12:07am sufferwords:

saw David Jo do this at the Whiskey as a teenager- Syl was with him- this corndog was mindblown
Avatar 12:08am Jedley:

I'll mention the weather so you don't have to--glad you made it through the tropicalia!
Swag For Life Member 12:09am Ira:

I was too stupid to ever see the Dolls, so the first time I saw David & Syl together was when the first solo album came out. Loved it!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:11am Rory:

Glad, no sandy. I was holding my breath for a week, seriously!
Swag For Life Member 12:12am Ira:

I hope not, Rory!
  12:13am sufferwords:

@Ira yeah same tour
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:13am coelacanth∅:

got t rex down to the detail!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:14am Gaylord Fields:

Back to normal.
Swag For Life Member 12:16am Ira:

Gaylord, you're the last guy in the world I'd expect would misspell "mono"!
  12:17am spodiodi:

hi Ira! glad to be listening. hi everyone
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:19am Rory:

Gaylord: Normal :D
  12:20am spodiodi:

Abby someone
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:22am Gaylord Fields:

I stand corrected, Ira: Back to Nomo.
Swag For Life Member 12:23am Ira:

Fershlugginer spell check.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:29am Gaylord Fields:

Ira, I was just reminding you about how Hideo resurrected his career when he returned to the Dodgers. What's more relevant to this show than that (I ask rhetorially)?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:30am Gaylord Fields:

*rhetorically
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:30am chaos_in_la_la:

We're just sitting here in LA commenting about how obsessed the world is with LA. That Stan Kenton track had us laughing!

Thanks @Ira
Swag For Life Member 12:31am Ira:

Gaylord, reminds me of that Half Japanese song "Nomo Fernandomania."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:33am Rory:

Can’t spell saxophone without axe or sex....
  12:44am yippie:

saxophon
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:45am coelacanth∅:

who do i know this song from?
Swag For Life Member 12:46am Ira:

Flying Burrito Brothers?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:47am Ken From Hyde Park:

Greetings, Ira and those with noble aspirations.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:47am Gaylord Fields:

Ha! Well done, Ira! I doff my cap to you (too bad the bird underneath it got its talons tangled in my ’fro).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:48am coelacanth∅:

Yes!
... i obviously don't know my flying burrito brothers very well. (+ you were just talking about that weren't you? i was focusing on something other)
Swag For Life Member 12:51am Ira:

At the late lamented Gold Dust Lounge in SF, we requested a Gram Parsons song one night, and they nailed "Sin City." Can't remember if that's the same night they killed on "No Good to Cry." I miss that place!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:56am Rory:

Summer is overrated
Avatar 12:59am Jedley:

Pretty music > cool music

Proven again
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:00am mariano:

Hell yeah Rory. The fall's where it's at. There's even a legendary band named after it.
Swag For Life Member 1:01am Ira:

Mariano, that's true, but one of the Police is named Summer.
  1:02am flashbazbo:

Screens off 2 hours before bedtime people. Sleep hygiene.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:02am Rory:

There is someone named Summer Sanders
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:04am Rory:

Mariano: I can’t do anything without making sarcastic parody anymore!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:04am Granny Spicy Tuna (e/em):

and a howdy to Ira and WFMU folx!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:10am mariano:

True, Ira. Keep making that sarcastic parody, Rory, would no doubt be an improvement on the one we're living. 'Night flashbazbo.
  1:11am spodiodi:

ha ha ha stick em!
  1:13am yippie:

some people need to get sticked
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:14am mariano:

29-year-old just got busted for getting a $1.6 million small-business loan (to help make payroll) and splurging on a Lamborghini and strip clubs. He doesn't even own any businesses. I'm so unfamiliar with the ways of the world, I had no idea you could get that kind of money. I give up.
Swag For Life Member 1:15am Ira:

But you know how to spell Lamborghini (assuming that's the correct spelling). That is an achievement. Even if you spelled it wrong, that's an achievement.
Avatar 1:16am slugluv1313:

@ mariano -- yup, heard about that the other day
and yes, the brat is in Florida
  1:16am spodiodi:

getting rich by unethical means? what the?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:17am Rory:

Flow-rida
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:19am Rory:

Seriously Florida in summer? Gators and snakes!
Avatar 1:19am slugluv1313:

& people bitch about others allegedly committing fraud to get food stamps or other public assistance grrrrrrr
Avatar 1:20am Hoboken Jack:

Ooh wait, I know the words! #callback
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:21am mariano:

Yeah Ira, little shit probably couldn't even spell Lamborghini. Probably couldn't spell lap dance. That does it, I'm gonna apply for every loan in the book then hire everyone here as an employee. Maybe turn it into a pyramid scheme. So get in on this early!
  1:22am spodiodi:

mariano, I quit! (do i get severance pay?)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:23am Rory:

Slugluv1313: capitalism is evil and brutal!
Avatar 1:23am slugluv1313:

@ mariano -- oops! the jerk you are talking about is in Texas!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:24am mariano:

Oh yeah, slugluv. People bitching about "those welfare queen fatcats eating lobster on *my* dime!" meanwhile it's "Gol bless Amurka" when sociopathic mega-corporations get more tax cuts at their expense.

spodi: No, let me lay you off, that way you can get unemployment!
Avatar 1:24am slugluv1313:

i am turning into my Mother -- "with all the starving children in the world??!!"
  1:25am spodiodi:

lay away, my good demon 8^)
  1:25am yippie:

if he wore a mask he could have gotten away with it
  1:25am spodiodi:

meddling kids
  1:26am spodiodi:

this particular jam makes it all better (for a few)
Swag For Life Member 1:28am Ira:

Nice little squiggly bit on the fade-out. I LOVE when there's cool stuff on the fade-out.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:30am coelacanth∅:

i'll work for you mariano. i'll be your comments board post editor.
do i get paid vacations?
Avatar 1:31am slugluv1313:

and how much you wanna bet the jerk in Houston not only got all grab-ass with the dancers, but really skimped them on tips
(yeah, the "upscale" jerks in strip bars flashing a lot of cash are usually the worst with tips -- the "blue collar" type guys actually "got it" that you were working & trying to make a living)
Avatar 1:31am Jedley:

I call SF bureau chief!
Avatar 1:31am slugluv1313:

401K plan, @mariano?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:33am mariano:

I dunno, coela. I have a feeling that as soon as I ever had that kind of money I'd turn into some sweatshop capitalist. slugluv: 401K? What is this Bolshevism?! Wait till my SF bureau chief hears of this.
  1:35am spodiodi:

i have dirt on the principal, if anyone wants to sue, it can be had for a reasonable price
  1:35am spodiodi:

if nothing else, you might be able to get the car
Avatar 1:37am slugluv1313:

yes my washroom IS breeding Bolsheviks buahahahahaha
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:39am mariano:

Lies! I'm too big to fail!

Actually this is starting to remind me of the trial scene in The Madwoman of Chaillot, late 60s movie with Katharine Hepburn, Yul Brynner, Danny Kaye and some others. There's a scene where they hold a trial for all the wealthy and powerful, with Danny Kaye ("the ragpicker" as he's billed) assuming their role. Brilliant scene.
Avatar 1:40am Jedley:

I dunno @mariano it's a historically pro-guillotine moment; maybe poorly timed to make your cigar-chomping plutocrat debut
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:42am mariano:

I've always had a gift for terrible timing.
Avatar 1:43am Paper Moog:

Thanks for playing on the cover of the music city news
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:44am Rory:

My great great grandparents immigrated to the US from nazi germany. Now, I’m ready to leave the US :( and nobody can leave....
Avatar 1:45am Paper Moog:

Are you Mariano Fricano of the 1954 Philadelphia Athletics?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:46am coelacanth∅:

mariano's gifted
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:49am coelacanth∅:

excellent David Ware album this one...but i guess that's a redundant statement.
Swag For Life Member 1:50am Ira:

I was just thinking along similar lines, but Corridors & Parallels is really special.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:51am mariano:

Never heard of Fricano, always nice to learn of another one.
  1:51am BH:

this is music to read primary elections results too

Congrats to Missouri on Medicaid expansion and also congrats on not (presumably) screwing up the absentee voting process in the primary.
Avatar 1:52am slugluv1313:

@ Rory -- right? but where to go?
i have thought of leaving even when i was still in my 20s -- but then would think that b/c things are SO f'd up HERE, i should just stick around & be a thorn in the side of the complacent jerks & try to make things better
Avatar 1:54am Paper Moog:

Did I hear right that Major League Baseball as a measure to ensure social distancing is banning organ players but having David S Ware as the official crowd noise?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:54am coelacanth∅:

Ira i agree. if not "better" or "worse" it's certainly different than his other quartet albums
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:54am coelacanth∅:

(more different than the others than they are to each-other)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:55am coelacanth∅:

yes i'm ready for Barbara Mason
  1:57am BH:

also despite various persuasive arguments to the contrary, I put on a face covering and sunglasses and voted in person today. The polling place was giving out pens instead of stickers
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:00am mariano:

Lol Paper Moog. That's a game I'd like to attend.
Avatar 2:01am Jedley:

@BH thanx for the reminder, checking them now. And thanx for being counted.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:02am Rory:

Slugluv1313: I gave up on the country several years ago. Seriously, not sure what to say anymore. Ummmm, WFMU still rules and not much else....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:03am coelacanth∅:

yes that would make me go to a baseball game... except i'm not so sure we'd be able to hear Mr. Ware on this plane.
Avatar 2:05am northguineahills:

Been in an extended stay hotel since Saturday. Got woken up by a bunch of kids (6-8yos) at 1:30am running around the hall).
Avatar 2:06am northguineahills:

Of all of the years I lived in NYC (16), I never lived ina building w/ children, only bands having practice at 2am....
  2:14am spodiodi:

ngh, thanks for making me grateful i don't have kids waking me up at 2am. how long will you be there? hopefully they leave soon
Avatar 2:15am Paper Moog:

Somebody should do a cover or parody “On The Cover of The CMJ” not so much to humblebrag but to remind people there was once a CMJ...
Avatar 2:15am northguineahills:

I'm here until at least Wednesday. Since it's Orlando, and the parks are open (can't out Florida Florida), they'll be here for probably a few more days).
Avatar 2:19am Paper Moog:

I should fire my producer but it turns out his name is Marion Fricano of the 1954 Athletics and the only thing people remember him for — 66 years later or 666 — is that he beaned a guy.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:19am mariano:

Was gonna ask "What were kids that young doing up at 1:30?" then I remembered: Florida.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:20am coelacanth∅:

i'm off
Thank you Ira! and Thank you skeleton crew!
take care everyone

  2:23am spodiodi:

night coel
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:23am Hugo (NL):

goodmorning!
Swag For Life Member 2:24am Ira:

Hugo, did you oversleep?!
Avatar 2:25am northguineahills:

(next Wednesday, so, I'm here for a while).

The kids were probably just getting back from the parks. Some parks don't close until midnight, and the Disney ones are about 40 minutes away, except, getting out fo the parking lot afterwards is like trying to get in the Holland tunnel during rush hour.
Avatar 2:25am northguineahills:

night coel!
Avatar 2:25am Paper Moog:

This is actually a historic recording of Doc Ellis the day he pitched a no-hitter between innings doing his version of “Salt Peanuts”
  2:28am spodiodi:

ah next weds. was going to ask. man, good luck
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:28am Rory:

Doc Ellis pitched a no hitter on lsd
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:29am Rory:

My great uncle nicked named Yogi Barra.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:32am mariano:

Whassup Hugo.

Rory/Paper Moog: there's a cool animated clip of the famous Doc Ellis no-hitter: www.youtube.com...
Avatar 2:33am Paper Moog:

I got Gino Cimoli’s autograph one day circa 1988 in North Beach at a mafia bar and Francis Ford Coppola was at the same table when I butted in and he said “leave the Berra but take the Cimoli”
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:34am Hugo (NL):

@Ira Hi! hehe, au contraire, I woke up at 6 AM. It's 8.30 right now over here.

@mariano hi there!love the Doc Ellis clip. I think there was an aniversary of the event a couple of weeks ago?
Swag For Life Member 2:38am Ira:

OK, Hugo, good morning then. Although I'm just a little bit hurt that you were awake for so long before you tuned in. Glad you're here now. (And I'm going to pretend you were listening all along, you just didn't comment.)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:40am Rory:

It makes me wonder if the mafia. Had baseball players in my family, plus my family
was friends with Marty Jannetty a mafia crime mob connected to FDR! Listen to Dave Emory more! He gets pretty close and I also have connections to the mafia crime mob!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:41am Rory:

Oh shit!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:43am Hugo (NL):

:-) I was listening to Sheena's stream during breakf...oh wait. Did I just make it worse?

Excellent ambient set, love the new Golden Retriever album!
So, there. I fixed it.
Avatar 2:44am Jedley:

Gotta keep 'em wanting more, @Hugo! ;)
Avatar 2:45am Jedley:

These late-nite sets have been truly cosmic.
Avatar 2:47am northguineahills:

dayum, that GR/Chuck Johnson!
  2:47am Matt in Carrboro:

Chuck Johnson’s a friend of mine, thanks for playing him Ira!
Swag For Life Member 2:48am Ira:

The pleasure was all mine, Matt! What an amazing record.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:51am mariano:

Rory: could you please repeat that but speak directly into my lapel pin? No particular reason...
Avatar 2:54am northguineahills:

Meg Baird!

merci, Ira!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:54am mariano:

Thank you Ira and crew, 'night folks.
Swag For Life Member 2:55am Ira:

Goodnight everybody (except Hugo). Thanks so much for listening, and for all the chitchat.
Swag For Life Member 2:57am Ira:

It's late, so I want to be clear . . . "(except Hugo)" because it's the morning in the Netherlands. That was 100% a joke about being hurt for not tuning in sooner. Glad to have you here, anytime.
  2:57am Matt in Carrboro:

Love Meg as well, never heard this one. Had to look up what it was from. Good luck in Boston this weekend. Hope there’s some video so us North Carolinians can see some of it eventually.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:57am mariano:

Wow, this Meg Baird is incredible.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:58am Hugo (NL):
