Favoriting Hinky Dinky Time with Uncle Michael: Playlist from September 4, 2020 Favoriting

Uncle Michael's avatar View Uncle Michael's profile Favoriting

Turning over the toy box and jamming together the gloriously mismatched musical Lincoln Logs, Legos and Tinker Toys from Tin Pan Alley pluggers, pickled egg tavern weepers, lockstep soul ensembles, skinny-tie power poppers, Eurotrash ravers, moontanned art school rockers, drunken soccer anthems and anything else that seems like a good idea at the time. There are no guilty pleasures.

That jamming with Edward record came out because Cooder was saying the Stones had songs where he should have been given song writing credit. Hi Michael, really enjoying the show and that Buckley song is a killer every time..I'm also an avid listener to Jeff Conklin's show and am really sad about the new schedule which I was not hip to yet...

I think I screwed up. A final schedule hasn't been made public...and until one has been, anything can change. I expect to be called on the carpet.

No worries. I'm always surprised this station even HAS a schedule.

I've heard DJ's announce that they're leaving the next schedule before the next schedule is announced either on air or on social media so I doubt it's a big deal unless the DJ in question didn't want it known for some reason.

Hey UM, the next fake Beatles record you need to play is The Raspberries "I Reach For The Light". It's a mix of McCartney's "C-Moon" and the "Penny Lane" horn.

Recently read a review of a recording of Mozart symphonies that entertained Kenzo's query. "Beethoven has long been celebrated as the composer who, through genius and sheer force of will, stretched and even broke the conventions of the 18th-century Classical era, thereby paving the way for 19th-century Romanticism. In that historical narrative, the elegance, restraint, and refinement of the Classical era are exemplified by such composers as Haydn and Mozart. But some interpreters have suggested a slightly different path.... [I]n terms of recordings of Mozart’s orchestral repertoire, no disc has ever made the connection between Mozart and Beethoven more strongly for me than a 2007 Harmonia Mundi issue of the 'Prague' and 'Jupiter' Symphonies."

Conductor was René Jacobs.
