The development of the sense referring to floors of a building is "obscure," but might derive from a row of painted windows or statures called "historia" in Latin, because it told a story or history (?).

	11:48am fred: I almost died going to a Branca show: I tried to get on a train but my sleeve got caught and I couldn't get in or out. I finally got it out and bounced on the train and a railing as people were screaming. I survived, got on the next train and saw the show, which was amazing (Symphony #8)

I finally got it out and bounced on the train and a railing as people were screaming. I survived, got on the next train and saw the show, which was amazing (Symphony #8)
